I also use the MAC filtering as well, but the router doesn't accept MAC fiters with empty names.

Sounds like you need a _new_ router ;-)
OK, I found the answer! You need a terminal window (or I used one anyway).
As root, cd to /etc/pcmcia
Edit the file network.opts (I used vi)
You will see a heading for each of your configured network settings which start with, for example:
qpelan0*,*,*,*)
In that "section" look for the parameter:
DHCP_HOSTNAME=
Just put in your host name there (no spaces) after the equal sign, save the file and connect!
I just tried it, and it works great!
