Are you running pdaXrom and for what?

I was just taking a break from "work" and was wondering two things:

1. How many people run pdaXrom - based on our visitor counter/downloads etc. it quite a few people. (73056 IPK downloads :-)

2. What do you use if for (PIM ;-), Networking/WiFi hacking, miniPC) - post what you use it for and what your run on it. Post screenshots/Links to screenshots if you think your pdaXrom looks extra cool.

- reading
- playing a bit with script languages
- I would like to use it as a pim, but I am too lazy and phone numbre end onto small papers.....

I mainly use pdaXrom on my Zaurus to make a perfect 'laptop replacement'.  I do my coding in C and PHP on there, keep track of assignments/labs/etc for my classes at university, and for learning more about the low-level functioning of linux systems in general.

I plan on building a couple of packages for doing computer algebra, in order to be able to play with some of the concepts introduced in my classes while in lecture (eg: doing complicated integrals for various physics problems, etc, quickly).

No I am not and yes I would like to. I want to know without mining old posts that are for old releases of pdaXrom if I would be able to sync with Outlook Exchange with a single click to calendar and contacts as happens with Intellisync.

Other than that feature, I'd love to use PDAXRom as an everyday system. I love the mini-laptop aspect of the Zaurus, but still need basic PDA functions and I'm familiar enough with various linuxes to administer it.

I use it for reading ebooks and for wifi web surfing in bed.  

I also plan to use it for some database stuff with Portabase.

1) Use as a pc replacement. Write letters, spreadsheet, mail, browser etc.

2) pda - use for address book, diary, notes, e-book reader etc.

I've got pdaXrom RC5 on my C860. It's the best ROM I've seen and I anticipate using pdaXrom for the lifetime of my device.

I'm still struggling to get my Ratoc CFU1 USB host and Aircable working, and I've not found all of the software I need/want yet, so I'm really not using it all that much. So far, my primary usage is wireless web and internet and VNC to servers and workstations for administration at work. I'd like to get wardriving (kismet/wellenreiter) and bluesnarfing (btscanner/?) working. It would be extremely cool to get the Z working as a cellphone or at least a SIP phone - I know there's software compiled for the latter, but I've not tried to get it set up yet. I hope in the long run to use my Zaurus as a laptop replacement, primarily focused on remote administration, coding, and hacking.

I use it is basically as a laptop replacement.  Mostly i use it for word documents, spreadsheets, and surfing the net.  I also run kismet just to figure out access point names rather than as a security tool.  Snes9x is really all i need as far as games go.

I use a wlan card (socket) and a pretec wired lan card.

I do however use my other Z as a Pim and I'd like to bee able to sync it with Outlook.  I'd honestly like to just have the normal qtopia apps sync up.  This way i could just flip the Z into portrate mode and work it like a normal pda.

I run pdaXrom on my c860 primarially as a geeking tool to test/write scripts, read documentation, check webfiles/server status when I am out and about, emergency access when on call, and, now that apache is compiled, check configurations.  Well, most of those are my intentions since I am still configuring and testing and haven't completely settled on pdaXrom, but most likely since it is the environment that most resembles my working setup.  Basically its my mini laptop that I use when commuting or have 10 minutes to spare and nothing else to do.   (yes, I am a single linux geek with time/money to spend on new toys)

I use pdaxrom,  for:
Minimo/dillo- web browse internet, locally hosted files i wrote about work related policies through

Apache - share, info with other people that have wifi at work so that they can see my info on work related policies

Commandline- what pda out there supports this other than a linux based one??  I practice shell commands and learn more scripting

KOPI-keeps me on time and keeps me from calling 411 or work related operator, great organizer.

all of the configurable utilities including overclocking.

abiword is nice and makes it easy to edit larger documents already written on a desktop.

I'd use the keyboard pic board more but the applet seems to be tempermental.  

xmms is great for ogg/mp3

mplayer works fine, anybody making/using a skin?  it's a great way to show off pdaxrom and push zaurus.  Most folks look at a commandline and say what?..

Games-  well, i'd have bought a gameboy if  i really wanted to.

Gimp, I guess it works and then it doesn't.   I'll stick to graphics manipulation on the desktop or adobe.

VIM better than vi

xpdf no problems so far, use it all the time

Gaim, great for hotspots and open wireless locations...

kismet-  nice

nmap- haven't had the pleasure yet

phone software,  i'd buy a gprs card with a well written phone program in 2 seconds flat.  If any of you super phone phreaks are reading this pls.  pls.  write me.

I'm sure it's foreign to most hardcore computer geeks but I enjoy running with my Z, while listening to tunes.  can't stop,whip out the stylus, select new song.
