We look forward to it - btw. don't give up at first - you might need to do several reboots and settings. As i wrote the best way i found for testing was to run Dillo in maximized window in "pda" mode. Hope it works :-)

I've gotten it fairly close to perfect.  However, when I switch to portrait mode, I get shadows.  Does this mean I have to keep adjusting?

Yes - bascially if you get the Portrait mode running - then normal mode should be okay too..

Chuckle, been away for a while and came back to see this thread. Glad to see that perhaps the 'flickering problem' has a solution ;-)

Hi @all,

What means 'flickering' in your postings?
I use tkcROM and noticed that with dark background there are light stripes going from the right site to the left site of the display, as is the case for osziloskop.
When I switch to max. background light then the flickering is gone or not to see.

Is it that what you mean?

thx for any help!

regards
Dirk

I think it can best be described as "shivering"  and it tends to be visible
on vertical lines such as those on the left side of an aterm/xterm, etc.

Mostly, it occurs on the left side of the display.

It appears to be some sort of timer/timing issue with the driver and
I think it's been investigated and mostly addressed/resolved --
but it takes manual intervention to rememdy.

If your settings are wrong it can also seem like a ... doubling up of lines. IE, instead of seeing a line across a screen, you may see a line and a ghost line near it. I got that when I reset my settings.

However, the shimmering is the most common problem, and I've seen in in pdaXrom and in GPE, both X environments.

Can these settings changed be used to remove that ghost lines/image that appear above things? if so which would help it more com or phase?

About a year ago I also mentioned the problem I had with ghost lines (Sharp rom). I tried to remove them with com/phase manupilation.. it didn't help me then. While reading this topic today I decided to give it another go and yes     .. for the first time I had my Z I got rid of the ugly ghost lines by adjusting the phase from 0 to 7. So adjust phase in case of ghost problems and com in case of screenflickering I would say.

Hrm, none of the things above seem to work for me  It keeps flickering just like before, I cant't see any changes... Today I got my first Zaurus, a C750 and installed U-Boot+pdaXrom on it but noticed the screen was flickering and tried to fix that with the tips above.. Unfortunately that didn't help at all    Is there any another way to fix it?

Hrm.. But I've got a question to the devs.. This doesn't seem to occur while it's in portrait mode (or rotated), wouldn't it perhaps be better to just set the new screen size instead of resizing it with its own system functions when the X server starts? [span style=\'font-size:8pt;line-height:100%\']Sorry if that question is stupid, I'm just curious[/span]

I haven't ever gotten rid of the ghosting on my C3100. I've tried changing the phase, but it remains. Is there anything else I can try?
