Pettins seems to have listed quite a few higher dollar items as well... Like quickbooks..

or this $225 copy of virtual pc fron the google cache of SEPT 27. <<< ??
http://216.239.63.104/search?q=cache:19-4r...22jpettins%22&h
This migt be a good sign.
or even a quickbooks pro from november 10th.
It isn't all just cds from mid-november. That blows part of the theory anyway....he DIDN"T start as a vendor of 2-bit gewgaws.... even though we haven't found any feedback on anything but cds.....
I guess I have to eat my words re waiting on amazon's corporate policies.....

I am showing amazon bashing currents.
the reason is simple.

I bought from their page with their logos all over it. They really can't direct me to a vendor and then say caveat emptor. They brokered. they will refund, I am sure.  I just thought they had a better class of vendor-- I had an expectation that they were more careful of fraud that they currently appear.

I agree that I should have done lots of reading and found out That shopping at amazon is more like shopping at a gas station in the south bronx, regardless of the corporate logo in the sign, than it is like shopping at a well patrolled quality controlled suburban mall.  My perception was askew.

Lot's of reading?  The A-Z guarantee is very clearly and concisely spelled out on the link that is shown with every single merchant listing.

I realize it's human nature to lash out at the visible middleman when the real culprit has disappeared.  But Amazon has always done well by me.  And I have had to use the A-Z guarantee before.  They fulfilled their obligation precisely inline with their policies and kept me as a satisfied customer.

If I'd been unhappy with anything short of an instant refund, policy be damned, I'd have given up on a vendor that has since treated me very well.

But it's your right to steam.  I might well be doing the same in your shoes.  And there is always the possibility they will expidite things if they get enough queries to show up more on their rader.  Best of luck.

I almost jumped on this "deal".  Had one in my cart.  Decided against it purely because of funds.  But I never worried about losing money as I knew Amazon was a safe bet.

ugh
the virtual pc was dec 2nd. not as good at all.

Borak, you are right I am taking this kinda personally.
still, I didn't shop for away to send my money on vacation, Much as I do appreciate the a-z I would like more than "wegotta gurantee waddya whinin about..shaddup" in reply to a fair number of reports of problems with a single vendor to the point of the appearance of possible fraud. Based on this I will tend to avoid amazon 3rd party sellers.  Money back is nice, but I like a chance to get what I pay for too.

From:  "Geana Iulian" <amaz_s16@yahoo.com>
Hy,
I have 4 units to sell.
The Zaurus 600 is brand new in unopened box with 3 years international warranty
As payment I will use Square Trade . Me too I was scammed two weeks ago trough Amazon Payment. If you are agree please reply me with your complete adress.
Thank's!

My original mail:

    Hi
I just saw your listing. Is it unopened and in a sealed box? Also what are your return policies.
Some friends of mine are also interested so it'd be good to know how many of these you are selling. Also, if we buy, how fast can you ship?
We just got scammed by a seller in Amazon so we do have to be careful. Hope you understand.
I'll wait to hear from you.
    Thanks
What on earth is Square Trade? Looks like another scam? These are not available any more on Amazon.

I don't believe he was even an Amazon seller of ANYTHING as early as Nov 10.  I think the dates you are looking at are the dates that exact item showed up on Amazon from any seller.  I can't see it now in his profile but I'm pretty sure it said "member since Nov 15" or something very close to that.  He definately wasn't selling in November.  The cashed pages you are looking at were captured on Dec 2 so all we can really say is that he was selling expensive items as early as Dec 2 which of course we already know.

Here we have a situation where many people are complaining to Amazon about the validity of one vendor who sold them the same item over a very short period of time.  One would like to think that Amazon should quickly realize the nature of the problem and act accordingly.

The comments in this thread are born of frustration in that it appears as if the perpetrator of the scam is not being brought to justice and that Amazon doesn't seem to care if the perpetrator gets away with his crime.  For those who have had their money stolen, the crime is of a personal nature, and they want to see some action taken on Amazon's part to make this thief account for his misdeeds.

Now it is understood that Amazon might be working on the case, and it is understood that the victims will eventually be receiving a refund from Amazon.  It is also understood that large corporations such as Amazon are impersonal, filled with bureaucracy, and slow to act.  Still we hope that we can somehow affect the course of events through both our individual & collective efforts.

What is this forum if not to share our experiences and solutions?

Well said, johnw...my sentiments exactly.  As with adf, I don't have a beef with the A-Z, but am really upset that Amazon's setup is so shoddy as to let this happen.  They've been around awhile, so there should be no excuses.  They should have a contingency for when a mass fraud like this occurs.

an email I sent one of his "customers":
Did you recently purchase something from jpettins@yahoo.com?
(I', basing this on his feedback)  Several of us ordered expensive pda's from him and have not heard since, nor received mail confirmation nor delivery. We are concerned. do you by any chance have any info? a return address on the item you purchased by chance? Anything would be helpful, and certainly you are not obliged to do anything at all.
Thanks,
ANdrew

Hi,
Yes, I did.
He's a fraud.
I'll have to look to see if I can find a return
address.
I had ordered a movie & instead of the movie he sent
me a cheap cartoon.
I filed a complaint with Amazon, but they don't seem
to be doing anything about it.
I guess they don't care, so long as they got their
cut.
I e-mailed the seller & heard nothing.
I'll e-mail you again if I find the return address.
I'd suggest you contact Amazon & let they know the
guy's a fraud.
