C860 Keyboard Action Not Fully Translated
« on: December 05, 2004, 08:33:09 am »
Hi,

I just got a C-860 from dynamism and I've noticed that the keyboard isn't fully translated!  If I press a few keys, like "a", "e", etc., I get Japanese figures.  Same thing happens with the pull-up keyboard in all applications.   Is this a "normal" problem with the Dynamism conversion?  Will switiching to say, Cacko, solve the problem or should I send it back?  Thanks.

Flashing a new ROM will solve the problem (it's not a hardware issue).

might be possible you use an "inappropriate" font. try changing used font. the actual appearance is not equal for all fonts! somehow you're right they're not consistently translated. in emergencies (shell) try invoking via the graphical input (pen field). /d

You have mostprobably turned on the Japanese Input mode.

Have a look on the taskbar on the right side. if you see a "A" then you are in normal english input mode, however if you see "あ" - a kind of cirlce witg a cros on the top (Japanese A) - then you are in Japanese input mode.

If so then hit the Japanewse key closest to the space bar to change back to English mode

Ahhhh...that last one did it.  Thanks guys.  I'll still install Cacko, but until I work up the courage, that did the trick.

No courage necessary. Cacko is just a long list of bug-fixes and improvements over the  Sharp ROM. You can install it very, very easily.
