Sorry if I missed this problem somewhere else... I looked everywhere but couldn't find anything involving my problem below:

I have the slightly older version of KDE Pim installed (Version 1.9.13).  I am planning on upgrading to the latest, but first I would have to figure out how to do with while preserving my data (appointments, e-mail, etc).

There is no problem updating. Just deinstall the old version and install the new version.
Your data is not deleted when deinstalling.

But, in the meantime, there is an alarm that has been going off on my Zaurus every few minutes for the last day and I want to find out how to permenantly turn off that alarm!

I get the following window:

Code: [Select]
KO/Pi Alarm!  [X] [OK]
---------------
The following event triggered alarm:
Suspended:

Missed Alarm:

Suspend duration (minutes): [ ]

[Suspent] [Stop sound] [Ok]

I've tried pressing all of the buttons, but the alarm keeps coming back.  I even disabled the alarm on the calendar.

We have a run-away alarm here... short of uninstalling the KOPI app, how can I get this alarm to go away?... permenantly?

Has this already been previously addressed?  (if not, then I'm surprised... although I do have it installed on my MSDOS SD, so maybe that's the problem, since the KDE Pim sometimes has troubl ewriting to the MSDOS filesystem)

If this should be fixed by the latest version, how can I upgrade to teh latest version without losing my data?

Thanks in advance!!  (The KDE Pim is AWESOME!!)

I have never heard of this problem.

It is a suspended alarm, which is triggered from the alarm applet itself.

You should press OK and not  suspend to stop the alarm permanently.

I just found out, that there is something odd with the alarm.

I can stop the alarm, but I get always duplicated or more alarm.

I will have a look at this.

Hi zautrix

first of all thanx a lot for the great work. the kopi suite is gorgeous !

one little thing though: in the new releases in the week-view there is above the todo list a line "click to add a new todo"  which I rather like to use for the todo list itself. I am mostly using the keyboard to input new todos (ctrl+t). As I didn't find a tick in configuration, maybe it's possible to add this ?

Another question: Do you plan to add PWM/PI to windows ? I really like it on the zaurus and would like to sync to XP

brisko

SL-C760, sandisk wlan, CF 128 MB, SD 256, cacko 121b
You can switch the "click to add a new todo" on/off via the contaxt menu or pressing "Q".

We plan to add PWM/PI to windows, but we have problems compiling the used crypto lib on windows. It contains a lot of linux specific code.

bugs & RFE pimpi.
  • Kopi bug: lots of Global options subtabs have fit problems.
  • Kopi bug: weekview button always shows todo's and date picker when switching from todo view, but not from other agenda view
  • Kopi bug: left hand column long tap shows wrong context menu in todo view. This one is old and seems pretty hard to reproduce. It seems to get worse when you have a lot of todo items and the vertical scrollbar appears.
  • Kopi bug: column long tap shows wrong context menu at leftmost side of todo view.
  • Kopi bug: new todo window's OK and Cancel button don't fit and get shoved under
    taskbar.
  • Kopi bug: help text doesn't line-wrap
  • the key + colors help window has the wrong window title, and the items qre not really ordered properly.
  • Kopi bug: "UNEXSPECTED" (unexpected) in KDE-Pim/Pi Howto
  • auto saving help window's text cannot be selected. also it's a popup while all other windows are text info. the info is also outdated/wrong (autosaving delay is now user-configurable)
  • Kopi bug: "toggle allday" menu item needs to be moved to "View" menu.
  • Kopi bug: Cancel button doesn't close search window.
  • Kopi bug: Ctrl+S doesn't create sub-todo in todo view.
Zaurix and Ulf, do you have any comments before I put those bugs in the tracking system?

Does pwmanager support Chinese character?

The Chinese character I import to pwmanager can not display correctly.
And when I new a entry and input some Chinese character and click OK, it seems that they are disappeared.
The version I used is 1.9.15

BTW, except the Chinese character issue, the pwmanager is very very good and I love it at the first glance!

And It seems there are problems within OM/PI for handling Chinese characters:

I compose a new mail and input some English and Chinese characters, and send out,
it seems all OK, and the mail received in other place also display them well.
But when open the mail in sent item mailbox(in OM/PI), the Chinese characters all gone,
only English characters left.

Any advice?

EDIT:
The version I used is 1.9.15, and the machine i owned is SL-6000L(It can input and display
Chinese characters in other program such as text editor)

Quick Q:

OpieMail/Pi - really fast, but it shows some emails as just blank. It seems to be the fancy HTML emails.

Is there a quick fix for this?

Hmm, I guess OpieMail just has prolems? Or it is just me.

Is there any way to change the location where the Calendar file is located? I found where to direct the address book file, but not the calendar.

I guess I could use a symlink . . .

BTW, I'm really liking this app!

I thought Opie-Mail supports all common e-mail content format types.  Can you tell us more about these "fancy HTML" formats?  Is it the typical HTML format used by most e-mail programs or is there something different about them?  I'd imagine that Opie doesn't have the HTML scripting support that full blown e-mails have and therefor may not "render at runtime" as well on script-rich HTML e-mails like other e-mail programs.

Does that sound correct?

I also have my own questions below:
  • Where is the "data" aspect of om/pi (e-mail) and the opie addressbook stored?  (Which directory and files?... I need to know this so that I can backup/restore the data as needed)
  • Will the Opie apps get "confused" if I switch the installation locations?  For example: first I installed it in my internal memory, but now I want to install it on my SD card.
  • Will it work to have some of the Opie apps in Internal memory and some on an SD card?  Will they still be able to find each other as needed?
  • If I install Opie Mail and Opie Addressbook on my SD card, will the other apps (installed internally) still work during those times when the SD is removed?
I want Opie Mail on my (MS-DOS formatted) SD card so that I can store more e-mail (not enough room in internal memory).  I also want the e-mail program and the addressbook on the SD card so that I can put the SD card in my laptop and backup the Opie data every now and then.

I'm planning on having my Opie mail become my only e-mail program.

Does anyone see any problems/issues with this approach?

Thanks in advance.

Heeeey, found a new bug.

If you have the Z in portrait mode with Kopi fastloaded, and you change the orientation while rebooting, kopi shows up at the start in the wrong orientation. A double oreientation toggle fixes it (so it's a minor thing really).

There are still bugs with non latin1 chars in OM/Pi.

I will try to fix them, but I do not know when it will be fixed.

Yes, I know that problem of the blank mails.

I will look at this and try to fix it.

There is something really odd ... no idea how long it will take to find and fix the problems.

It has to do with wrong character encoding/decoding.

Question about the KO/pi Alarm applet.

How/when does it "read" the file and set up alarms? Is there any log?

I "sync" my Z by copying over my mycalendar.ics file from my desktop to my Z. (I know this isn't "sync," but it gets the job done for me and is less work than using the "sync" process.)

However, it seems like sometimes the alarms work and sometimes they don't. I tried rebooting completly after a copy, but it is still inconsistent.

Is there something I need to do to get the alarm applet to "see" the ics file? Is there something about the desktop file that is different that causes the alarm applet to be confused?

Thanks for any pointers!

This is the first time I tried installing the OM/PI - the email component of KDE-PIM on my Zaurus.

I doenloaded the 1.9.15 version the latest one for all the apps and firstly un-installed the older ones and re-installed the new versions.
But while all other apps work fine - the OM/PI gives me this problem

1) on my C750 it works fine - i.e it starts up (thats all I tested)
2) on my 6000L, it just does not start up when I click on the icon.

This is even when installed on my internela memory (or even on SD).

The error message I get when I install OM/PI is ...
"this depends on other packages, please install them"

But I have already installed the kdemicrolibs as well ...

Edit : In starting  ompi  from the terminal, I get this message
"error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.0.9.7: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory"
