Ok, What Am I Doing Wrong?!

I just can't get this damn Zaurus to work properly, no matter how many flashes, reflashes, or re-reflashes I do.

1) It's unstable as all hell. My XP machine's been running for 200 days without a reboot. I haven't gone more than 24 hours without having to smack my zaurus with a flash

2) The CF keeps dropping randomly, causing any and all programs ON the CF to stop working. Usually, though, it just stops recognizing the CF after waking up

3) The Zaurus seems to work just fine IF and only if you do NOT let it suspend. As soon as it shuts itself down, there is slim to no chance of anything working properly on resume.


Honestly, I didn't think I was asking that much of it; Just the PIM apps, an e-book reader, and a couple of games to pass them long bus trips.


I'm running 3.5.2, which I will say is a lot more stable than the 3.2 I was running before. But it still isn't boiling my kettle

I haven't touched any of the bootup scripts, nor set any funky options. Networking to my PC works perfectly, I can resolve DNS and download remote IPKs.


I think, what I I'd LIKE to do is go back to the Sharp Rom. But supposedly, that isn't a whole lot better  


Any and all advice is welcome. I'm about ready to try reflashing the Zaurus with a large axe

Remove opie-wirelessapplet if it is installed and see if that helps.

Speaking of which... what's going on with opie-wirelessapplet?  I ran an older version of it under 3.2, even with constant refresh, and it NEVER hung my Z.  These newer versions aren't working at all.  Anyone heard an update on this applet?

Heh... Solved ALL my problems by ditching OpenZaurus and going to the 3.1x Sharp Rom. Haven't had even the slightest hiccough since... STUFF ACTUALLY WORKS!

Now, that may be because I'm a total idiot, and the SharpROM is idiot proof... But still... Happy to see that my 5500 isn't broken or something.

i didn't like the sharp rom, and neither did my 5500.  It loves OZ3.5.2 however, isn't it strange how peoples experiences with identical software and hardware differ.
