sorry to be a pain, its been many years since I've used unix and I'm having a little trouble 'finding' could you tell me the command to find that file as well as run it.

fyi when connecting the 5600 to the pc, the pc recognises it as a 5600, then goes on to complain about the usb drivers not being correct for the hardware.

on the 5600 if I press the sync button it returns an error 'PC-Link Error occured, please confirm connection'. However, if I go through the add new hardware process on the PC, which eventually fails, I briefly get the sync fail but it goes on to pop up the 'updating info' dialogue and then closes that. qtopia 1.5, kernel 2.4.18

dont know if that helps understand the issue any better.  I really appreciate the help and again, apologies for not knowing how to find the file you suggested.

same here. I've had the 5600 for close to a year now. When I first got it I had no problem with the install but havent used sync in a long time.  The only thing different is xp is now sp2. I notice the new hardware wizard has an extra screen at the start.

Anyways, I'm in the same boat, plug in the 5600, new hardware wizard starts but finally complains that the driver is not for the hardware found.  Used both sharpusa.com downloads and the ndisusb driver from ZUGsoftware

I dont resample but to answer bluedevil on why *I* bought the TKC software, I save internet radio streams to mp3 and copy them to CF daily.  So, I have these 120M mp3 files usually running over 2 hours depending on the stream bit rate. tkcPlayer was the only software I could find at the time that had a slider bar to allow me to skip to any point in the track easily.  I am not a huge fan of tkc, their software looks great and has great usability but I find its generally very sucky.  However that slider bar alone was enough for the asking price.

I\'m sure the Chinese CEC have their eyes on the American market, I\'ve just come back from Beijing and I could not get over how expensive electronics were there, more expensive than the US for Memory cards, Digital cameras etc etc.
I would look to Sharp to blame for the high prices, the recent drops in price for the 5600 are clear indication that inventory is being offloaded in advance of a new product range push.  The shift to a Chinese manufacturer producing a PDA with English all over it is good indication that Sharp has a mature and well developed product on their hands and is about to take on the US & UK markets with a bit more conviction. However prices will be overly expensive to milk new adopters and avoid pissing off retailers holding old stock.

as an aside for PC users looking for shoutcast stations.  I use winamp 2.91 (downloadable off various sites other than winamp who would prefer you to use later bloated versions).  It catches about 500 stations, right click on the winamp skin to get the station details.  I use the demo zRadio and just edit the xml file myself.
I\'m sure there are other ways of finding out station IPs but winamp 2.91 is a nice to have.

Also, another aside but related.  I save streams using a PC app called streambox vcr (again, search the web for this one cos Realmedia got the software banned!) then I copy the .mp3 streams to my Z and play radio on the the go.  As far as I\'m aware this is legal and 100% free mp3 downloads.

Software / tkcCalendar: invalid name response when creating templete

I am unable to save templates in the tkcCalander, I get an error dialogue informing me the name is invalid unless I enter no name, which isnt much use.

Anyone able to reproduce this?
any workaround?
Anyone got a working version of tkcC, if so what is your system?

Latest sharp rom on z5600, premptive kernel, latest version of tkcCalander.

Software / tkcTODO - todo create is too wide on 5600

for some reason my tkcTodo is displaying in 320x320, so no matter what way I\'ve got hte screen orientated I lose buttons or something.

Anyone seen this, resolved it?

z5600, latest sharp rom with premtive kernel, latest version of tcktodo

I think you might be right.  I\'m going to watch it a little closer over the next few days and if I can confirm its a hardware issue I\'ll return it to amazon.  I\'ll post a question to sharp support about this, might be a known fault.

sorry, should have been more explicit. my bad  :roll: it just seems like there\'s something very obvious I\'ve not set or something that I should have done.

5600 Sharp rom with the 250 premptive mod, I have the qtopia -sysinfo hack so it doesnt give me the exact rom version anymore, its the 2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-emb... kernel downloaded from here. The one that removed the 250 bug fix. I\'m completely new to Linux, are the kernel and rom completely independant? if so I have the latest sharp rom of sharps site.

I\'ve done a little bit more investigation.  I cant seem to replicate the issue by suspending the z for a few minutes.  I always comes back up with the correct time.  Is it normal to see the set system time dialogue after a reboot?

It\'s just that every time I come to work the first thing I have to do is correct the time which is always out by several hours.  Maybe the z goes in to some deeper power saving mode after a longer period of time and then the clock freezes?
