« on: March 08, 2011, 02:20:51 am »
N5 is very solid, battery life is awesome and the features are great.  Bought mine a few months back and love the hell out of it.  I got the 3g version, so mobile where ever more or less.

Yeah passed on the recent sharp devices, nothing so advanced as the Zaurus had been [comparative to the devices of its time].  I went with a Viliv N5.  Still have my Z.  In the process of getting linux going well on the N5

Sharp PC-Z1 NetWalker / Zaurus Is Dead .... Long Living Zaurus Aka Pc-z1
« on: February 12, 2010, 04:14:34 pm »
Picked up a N900 for $425 US, mint.  Love the device, keyboard blows compared to the Zaurus or the Universal I was using but one makes compromises.  The 3G always connected option for a linux terminal is awesome.  I love the UI and for the most part I feel I am already familiar with the OS, as its a derivative of debian.  Screen size isn't a huge issue in a phone/ mid for me, if I want horsepower and a 4.5" screen the Sony UX280 I have is more than capable.  Just grab it out of the bad I take to work, but for breaks and quick jaunts onto the net etc ... the N900's been a winner for me.

I left the Z due to its lack of true connectivity without wifi hotspots and in the end lack luster playback of various media when compared to my universal.  I left the Universal because of the slow G speed I am locked too in the US.

Just my 2 cents.

Be careful about any updates, there are a suprising amount of things that trigger the flaw in the present libstdc++6 package.  More or less anything big, gnome related or xfce4 related seems to trigger the update.  If its standalone or just console it seems to go fine.  Nano for example apt-get's just fine.

Ubuntu / Is Multibooting Zubuntu + Cacko Possible On C1000?
« on: August 30, 2009, 09:54:31 pm »
For the lack luster stats the MID from Sharp has and the size, just drop Fedora C11 on an Acer Onenote and off you go   But then neither is really pocketable like a true Z.

Btw Wally world sells the Onenotes for just over $250.00 US.

Yepa, its all good seeings as its meant for the 3x00 series. Waiting for more user feedback   I like it thus far ... though it seems to be slower than the zUbuntu Jaunty Updated release.

Same as pToki's post, tweak a bit zaurus leds:
echo mmc0 > /sys/class/leds/spitz\:green\:hddactivity/trigger
echo ide-disk > /sys/class/leds/spitz\:amber\:charge/trigger

if you like put it in /etc/init.d/zaurusd right after echo "starting zaurusd"
this gives you blinking leds while accessing cards.
