For Sale / Wanted / Wtt - Htc Universal For 3100 Or 3200 Z
« on: August 16, 2009, 02:29:49 pm »
I have an extra O2 Universal Clamshell PDA Phone, its in great condition but has become unnecessary for me to keep.

Willing to trade it for either a N810 Nokia or SL-3100 [SL-3200] in nice condition too.  The phones unlocked and works
on all gsm networks.  Can post or pm pictures of it.  I am willing to flash it too either factory, a version of WM 6, 6.1 or
for the daring WM 6.5

Comes with power cable, stylus, case, battery {cover too} and sync cable.  Will toss a 2gb sd card in it too.  All versions
of WM after 6.0 do support SDHC cards and the unit has been tested with up too a 16GB SDHC card in it.

PM me if interested with an offer.

Debian / Running Kde 3.5
« on: December 23, 2008, 11:10:55 am »
Been running KDE 3.5 for a week now and I have to say its not that bad.  Loads and
runs faster than Gnome (which bogs on gnome-setting-daemon), about the same as
Xfce surprisingly.  Setting the fonts too 11 makes most windows fit properly.  KDM
took a bit and a trick to get running from reboot reliably but its all good now.  Will post
some screenies soon

Constantly fiddling with gui's for my debian powered Z.  So far fluxbox has been the
fastest but it somehow feels incomplete too me (imo). Anyhows tried gnome full and
found it tedious to load.  Anyhows it works nicely, like qtopia but better.

Hurdles to cross when useing it;

KDM needs help to run properly
Custom compiled onscreend to run with kde (looses its mind from default andromedia)
Setting general font to 11 helps screen size issues.

Debian / Question - Make Bootable Image Of Tiny Linux
« on: December 29, 2007, 09:56:14 pm »
Is it possible to make a bootable image of this for the flash (nand)?  If it could boot from the same kernel as 2ro0's then it would make the perfect companion too the distro.  With tweaking it would make a grand emergency recovery option for those Z's running debian.

Ideally if it could be the rootfs, flashed along with 2ro0's kernel.  Bootable from the mtd like pdaxrom etc ... I ramble

May require kernel tweaking ... its 2.4.20 as it present base.

Just an idea

Debian / Gnome Keybindings
« on: December 23, 2007, 09:18:44 pm »
Found a bothersome keybinding issue in the gnome from eabi, seems its been there all along.  The "F1" key is bound to the help function and launches it on pressing the "F1".

Heres the fix if others are having this issue, the first fix worked for me.  The other is to be tried if the first does not work.

1. Run gconf-edit, you will find it n /apps/gnome-sessions-daemon/keybindings. Try deleting that key and logging out/logging in. You may want to write down what's there in case it does not work. I know this is somewhere in gconf because I have done it before.

2.  Follow these steps, YMMV.
sudo mv /usr/bin/yelp /usr/bin/yelp1
sudo echo "echo 1" > /usr/bin/yelp
sudo chmod 755 /usr/bin/yelp

Debian / Compiling
« on: December 22, 2007, 09:53:35 pm »
Looking to try and start compiling some apps and games for the Z, I would like to crosscompile them from my host laptop as it would be dramatically faster to do.  How do I go about this?  Its been awhile since I have tried to compile things

Debian / Gdm +rotate
« on: December 18, 2007, 09:50:51 pm »
So far the only way I have been able to get gdm to rotate the screen on running is too modify the /etc/gdm/Init/Default

I added just above the exit at the end of the file, xrandr -o right
which seems to have done the job, but is there a cleaner or "better" way to do this?

Debian / Gnome Themes
« on: December 16, 2007, 08:27:17 pm »
For those of you running Gnome from the Armel repo's here's a link too a deb with plently of extra themes for you.

Gnome Themes Extras (Its an any architecture file - so dpkg -i <name> and its all cool.

Also just from experience, do not use the gnome-volume-control applet ... it seems to cause the gnome-settings-daemon to fail on load.  This is not cool, just so you guys know

Have fun.
