Astro Slide - Android / Stuck on Android symbol
« on: April 13, 2023, 04:10:16 am »
Hi - when I woke up this morning my Astro just has "Android" written on the screen with a kind of regular strobing on the word.

It has now been like that for at least 3 hours.

Is it updating something?  3 hours seems a long time to do an update.

Astro Slide - Android / Planet Agenda app - sync with M365 and/or Icloud
« on: January 10, 2023, 03:18:50 am »
Hi - is it possible to get the planet Agenda app to work with M365 (family subscription) and/or Icloud?

I mean fully work in both directions and not having to plug into a computer to sync?

If so how do I set that up?  I tried to set it up in the accounts in setup as described in the agenda documentation but it wouldn't let me set the account up.

Cosmo Communicator - CoDi / CODI update
« on: December 11, 2019, 06:50:25 am »
So if this doesn't work I should just keep trying over and over again?

For me, just the resource section took more like 35 minutes and not 20 minutes, and even then it failed (3 times so far).

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Mouse for Cosmo

Hi,

In one of the videos on Youtube, it shows a mouse connected to the Cosmo.

Would any USBC mouse work for this?

Cosmo Communicator - General Discussion / Two lights on fingerprint sensor
« on: December 07, 2019, 10:56:25 am »
Hi,

What do the two lights on the fingerprint sensor mean?  At the moment one is green and one is red, but I couldn’t see anything in the QuickStart guide on what these lights actually mean.

In fact, as a general question, where can I find documentation to answer questions like the above?

Thanks

Gemini PDA - Android / MS Office Apps Won't run?

So I have my SD card mapped as shared memory. Word, Excel, etc. stopped working months ago. The splash screen is displayed, then they close without any error message.

After seeing this latest post, I tried them again and they are working now!

Seems there is no consistency in the problems we are seeing here with MS Office....

I also have my SD card as shared memory - I am not yet sure if this is one cause of the issue or just a symptom.

What I've found is that after reinstalling a few times, I can now run Word and Excel, but, each time the device is rebooted it says that my session has ended in Onenote and I have to log in again, using a roundabout procedure which I discovered by trial and error.

FYI I am office 365 customer so I have a Onedrive account etc.

I also noticed that if I install the Onedrive app, it does not display the most recent versions of all my files - I can see all my files, but many of them show as updated last in April 2018, even though I know I've updated them since, and if I log in to onedrive on a browser they are correctly shown as updated.  Weirdly, this issue is exactly the same in the IOS Onedrive app as well.  In any case I think that's a separate problem not related to the above.

I have installed Word and Excel on my Gemini but they won't run - when I try to run either app, I just see the logo pop up for 10 seconds or so, then it crashes back to the home screen.

Had the same here after I reflashed the device. Both programs would show up for a second and then close.

Today there were upgrades for both to download and once they had it took me through the sign up process for their wretched (but free if you don't accidentally tick the wrong box) cloud thing, once that's done the programs work OK.

I suppose they need an account to work, I think the original install (which did work on mine before I flashed the hell out of it) had a dummy account which was enough to get the programs to work.

OK so I’m not alone it seems.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled office apps again.  They did seem to work at first, but they are behaving oddly still.

If I close down the app, and then reopen it, it says my session has ended.  Then if I try to log in, it says I can’t log in twice.  If I click on the “open” tab, I can see OneDrive appearing twice instead of once and I can then login to the second entry, and then go back to my account screen and log in again.  At that point, everything works fine until the app is completely closed down, and then it gets in the same loop.

I’ve also tried a “reset office” option that I found in settings but this didn’t seem to work either.

Also, even when I uninstall all office related apps, there is stuff left over because when I reinstall one, it knows my user ID.

That said, I guess Skype is a Microsoft application so maybe I need to uninstall that as well.

I had recently done a flash of the stock Android and just now installed MS Word. I did not have any problems with the app starting.

Are you rooted?

Jake

No - I have not even installed Linux or anything.

One thing I did notice is that my SD seems to be shown as an extension to the internal memory, and it doesn't show up in File Explorer, but the file explorer only shows the internal phone memory as the total available.  The SD card does show up in settings though.  Not sure if that could have anything to do with it.

I am using the Android version as received.  I did no installations and found both Word and Excel pre-installed on my Gemini.  Tapping the icons opened up each application, and I was able to access my Onedrive files for each application.  There was no need to install the programs, and I found each to be fully functional.

OK well for me they are not working.  As I remember, when I received the Gemini, there were Word and Excel icons, but when I clicked on them I had to then install them.  I think (but not 100% sure) they might have been working when I first got it.

However, when I tried them again yesterday, both word and Excel won't run - I see the loading screen, but then after a few seconds I am dumped back to the home screen.

I've also tried opening an Excel document from onedrive (which runs ok) and I get the same result.

I tried uninstalling both apps and reinstall but this didn't work either.
Both apps seems to have got an update September 14th, it may have got some bugs (or "features"???  ) that prevent it to run (at least on the Gemini)? If you have automatic update turned on, that might be the reason. And as I don't think there is an easy "downgrade" option in the Play store, you may have to search and use a different "store" to get the right apk installed again...?

I don't have either app installed, and have automatic update turned off (unless there has been some update or change in the store that turns it on automatically again, which I do believe has happened at least on one occasion   ). So it is only a guess from my side...

OK thanks - is there a way to request official support from gemini like an email address or suchlike?

Hi,

I have installed Word and Excel on my Gemini but they won't run - when I try to run either app, I just see the logo pop up for 10 seconds or so, then it crashes back to the home screen.

I'm assuming this is supposed to work because there were icons pre-installed on the app bar?

Gemini PDA - Hardware / USB Hub
« on: September 16, 2018, 08:26:07 am »
Hi all,

I just received this week the USB hub for my Gemini but it didn't seem to have any instructions with it.

Which side of the Gemini can I plug it in or will both work?

Also what is the 3rd smaller port on there?

Gemini PDA - Android / How to switch off keboard sound
« on: July 29, 2018, 03:03:23 pm »
How can I switch off the clicking sound that happens every time I press a key without switching off all sound completely?

I've switched off the "touch" option in sound settings, and it appears to switch off the touching of the screen noise, at least most of the time, but the keyboard clicks won't go away.

Gemini PDA - Hardware / Battery Life
« on: July 22, 2018, 05:48:07 am »
Hi all,

Have there been any issues reported with the battery running down much quicker than expected?

When I first got my Gemini the batter appeared to last about 5-7 days of standby use.

Now, for me this is just a test prototype device to play around with and it's currently not my main device, so sometimes it just sits in my office on standby mode for a day or two.

I've noticed in the two weeks, that every time I go to use the device, the battery is empty, even though I'm 99% sure I charged it up only 2 days ago.

Have any other issues like this been reported?  If not, I'll monitor it more closely over the next few days to determine whether I have a duff battery, or perhaps there is a runaway app or something that is causing the issue.

It is just using the standard Android firmware so far as I haven 't even had time to install linux, and I've hardly installed any apps other than the ones that were standard and the Gemini Agenda app.l

cheers

Gemini PDA - Android / Planet's Agenda app released
« on: July 12, 2018, 05:11:14 pm »
I have the same issue - I can't seem to change the day view to 24 hour format.  It's already set to use 24 hour format as far as I can tell and the clock in the status bar is in 24 hour format.

Also - I logged my account into my office 365 but it doesn't appear to support calendar sync with office 365?  (which is strange because calendar apps o other devices like Iphone and so on seem to sync calendar no problem).

I also remember that in the original 5MX agenda you could press the tab key to bring up a mini month calendar and then again to put it to 3 months - would be nice to have that feature back as well.
