For Sale / Wanted / Wanted: Zaurus Sl-c3200 Or Sl-c3100

I was actually able to find a SL-C3100 in near mint condition. But what I could use now is a spare ac adapter and maybe a car charger. Anyone out there interested to sell or trade?
I believe you can use the PSP's ac adaptor. You can use the Open Pandora ones - actually I'm using my Zaurus adaptor to charge my Pandora, so it should work the other way (can't check since both are many thousands of miles away from where I am right now).

Nokia Tablet / N900 Anyone?

I was looking at this and would have got it but I started reading that it doesn't have usb host. They slashed hundreds of possibilities with the removal of that one feature.
When I look back to what I used the usb-host on Z for, it was mainly usb-ethernet, bluetooth, access to storage. Since the N900 has builtin wifi, BT and plenty of storage, it wasn't that sorely missed.

OpenBSD / Mail Problems

when I try to send mail via [ksh] shell on my OpenBSD 4.0 server there is no problem and mail is delivered, but when I try to send email via php with function mail() it return false and the mail is not sended.
When sending using php does the mail ever make it into the mail queue? Look at your mail logs to see whether mail is injected or not.

I'm set my php.ini to use exacty the same sendmail I'm using when I send email via shell.
How did you compile php? If at the time of compilation php doesn't find an appropriate sendmail it will compiled without mail support - however I'm not sure whether the mail() function is still available (but fails silently) or not.

It seems like they've toned down the keyboard a bit. Doesn't look as ugly as their earlier mockups. If only they could make a version with a Z like keyboard and remove the gaming controls then it really will be the Z replacement.

Hey lets have a 10 million dollar give-away, and get everyone on board.
Not everyone. There's that debacle over how the latest SDK was available only to the "top 50" developers (as judged by google).

Linux Applications / Firefox Ported To Qt

Whilst the goal is good, the reason supposedly given by Nokia is not. Apple only "controls" WebKit in that they are the biggest/main/sole/whatever contributor. If Apple takes WebKit in a direction not favourable to Nokia they (ie Nokia) can always fork it. Does Nokia have any influence over how Firefox is developed? I should hope not, at least not more influence than any regular user. - unless of course they exert this influence in the form of contributed code.

What about aptitude for the package manager? Presumably it should be less resource-intensive than synaptic.

On the HP48 topic: Link? My concerns here are that it may not fit on the screen well, it may be more complicated than necessary, and that it may be overly large (in KB/MB, not pixels).
I think I got my copy from here:
https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=17031

The package size is about 100K  and you need a ROM image which uses 512K. As you can see from the above link it has been patched for a 640x480 screen so it fits just right.

Filesystem/editors:
- Nano
- Leafpad
- Geany(or Beaver) <--- maybe not in the image
Are you suggesting to add Geany? C'mon there are already 2 editors listed (one CLI, one GUI). We don't want bloat (as in duplicate programs) even on a "full" image.

I would rather have ROX-Filer, I find it faster, you can have single-click navigation
...
You can have single-click navigation in PCManFM too but you need to patch the source.
[rant]
This is something I find strange and irritating, how is single-click useable, especially on a touchscreen device? Sometimes I want to select an item without activating it, how does one do that without resorting to "right-click and cancel any context-sensitive menu"?

As for GPartED, I find it too big and slow, it is not very often used, therefore i am in favor of fdisk and mkfs even if it's not user friendly.
Agree. Anyway isn't GPartED just a GUI for fdisk/mkfs.* - ie you still need fdisk/mkfs.* regardless? Or replace fdisk with cfdisk if the namby pambys wants a gui.

I was thinking about Lxpanel combined with openbox. Lxpanel has lots of plugins(battery, volume, netstatus, cpumonitor, ...)
Wha's wrong with good old IceWM, it's fast, light (fairly) and has lots of "plugins" builtin.

and scans .desktop so the menu is updated when new apps are installed
that's nice, but if it keeps on spinning up the microdrive every minute or so it could be a serious drain on battery life.

- Galculator(or gpe-calculator which is faster to load)
Heh, my vote would be for the HP48 emulator, it loads much faster than Galculator and is somewhat more powerful

Help Mozilla set their world record!
I would rather Mozilla concentrate on making Firefox better (secure/standards compatibility) instead of them spending time coming up with these gimmicks. It seems that they have lost sight of their mission and Firefox seems to have as many vulnerabilities as IE.

The SD card slot is occupied when running Linux (there's no way to install to the internal flash yet).
Does it do SDHC?

What are the chances of them releasing it internationally? (ie with GSM)
