5x00 General discussions / Suspend Not Working In Oz

I'm running Hentges 3.5.4.1 rom, with lots of cool stuff added after the fact ... but when i hold cancel to suspend my Z, it freezes and I have to flip the battery switch.  Not cool.  Anyone else have this problem, know how to further troubleshoot it, or even fix it?

Another Hentges issue I'm having ... Aqpkg segfault when I attempt to run it.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Hentges & Socket Modem No Gateway?

I pulled my SL5500 out a couple days ago after a year or so of non use and installed hentges 3.5.4.1 rom on it.

so far i'm having a lot of luck getting things running ... although some not as well as others, opera 7.55 is giving me grief however, i pulled my old socket cf modem out to try and get internet on it and when i went to the network settings, it tells me

/etc/resolv.conf is missing or can't be read.  Ask your system administrator to create it.
I continue with the setup and get the modem dialing but no IP is assigned to me after the connection has been made.  

any ideas?

5x00 General discussions / Yet Another "what's Best" Question

So I took about a two year break from my Zaurus because I had thought it no longer read CF cards ... apparently I was wrong...

Anyway, coming back I see that the current version of OZ is like 3.5.x (last I used was 3.3.5) and Sharp has likely long since stopped making Roms for the SL-5500.  So, I am wondering at this point, what rom would be best for me to use.

I run Ubuntu as my main OS on my main machine, so I want something I can more or less easily synch there.  I would like, if possible, to be able to eject and mount CF/SD cards while using my zaurus as well (I hear that OZ 3.4 and beyond like much better to have root installed on SD than internal...)  Those are pretty much my only criteria.

Other than that, I'm probably going to have to rip the thing apart and install another Backup battery in the thing ... thats always a fun task...

5x00 General discussions / Wellenreiter On The Sharp Rom

So I have followed the instructions given in a previous posting to attempt to get Wellenreiter up and running on the Sharp Rom.

Wellenreiter does run however, it does not recognize my Wifi card (Linksys WCF12)  Does anyone out there know how I can get it to?

Sharp ROMs / Zroadmap

Ok -- I know there are already a lot of posts on Zroadmap -- but in my search for intstallation instructions I have not really found any definitive descriptions of how to install it and get it running.

the first step of course will be to obtain the ipkg
that I have done and that I have installed

then i picked up usdir.rdm (in a tgz file)
next i picked up maps of my home state California (also in tgz format)
the two above files came from the roadmap home page.

At this point I am totally lost -- what directory do i place the files in and do i need to decompress them?

Sharp ROMs / Calander Issues

Hey all;  its been a while since I lurked these forums....

I have a problem ... I revently reverted back to the Sharp ROM (3.13) on my SL-5500, well doing that wiped my calender so I restored the backup file i made of 3.13 a few months ago and synced the SL-5500 to Outlook (which also contains the schedule from my phone).


Ok -- the sync did not work.  most of the info in my calender was not imported (except holidays and two repeat events) these repeat events times were changed by like 5 hours each.  Ok no problem -- deleted everything (used the option in the Sharp Calender to delete info) but when i try posting new info into it, the times get screwed up yet again, it will not use the times i give it no matter what they are!

Anyone else experience this?  explainations/solutions are welcome!

Well I think the time has come to migrate from the Sharp ROM to an OpenZaurus Rom.  My question is, is there any way to export data from qtopia desktop or outlook to where i can import it into my PIMs on OPIE?

Could someone post a copy of their Opera.desktop file?  I screwed up and I'd like html to open with Opera instead of konqueror.  Oh and ipks no longer open in package manager when i download them with opera on thw zaurus nor does the save as feature work.

Windows Issues / Flash Card Reader

I have this flash card reader -- and it has passed on I think.  It is internal and plugged into my USB 2.0 port on the motherboard (Giga Byte K7 Triton).  None of its LED's turn on even before Windows boots and they used to provided I had a card in the drive.  This happened to me before about 6 months ago, the same type of thing -- the USB 2 port does work and I don't know for sure that the drive is dead (ie I haven't tested it on other computers).  But does anyone have any speculation as to why this may be happening?

Software / Opera 7 Install

I'd like to install opera 7.3 for my sl-5500 on my sd card, i tried it, ipkg said it was for main memory only -- is there any way to override that for future reference?  By doing this, opera 6 is no longer found on my device   In desperation I'm installing it to main memory but now I 'click' on it and nothing happens.  When I try to run it from the konsole it said "Bus error" nice eh?  

I'm stuck on my Z without a browser now, any ideas?

((a note, ipkg did have an error when I installed opera 7.3, it said that all files had not been extracted succesfully))

Software / ipkg woes

HELP!

I\'m trying to install a newer version of Qtopia-Cardmon onto my Sharp ROM and it tells me i need to uninstall the old one.  so i try to do that from the konsole and it says \"Qt/Embedded data directory is not owned by user 0.\"  I can\'t install the new one \'til i get rid of that, any ideas?

Sharp ROMs / Whoops \'Getkey\'

Trying to figure out identification information for the app launcher keys (and cancel, home, and ok) I screwed around in the konsole with a getkey command.  Now, I didn\'t know there even was a getkey command -- in Ti BASIC on my calc I used that to identify key numbers when programming the calc.  So i was just kinda typing in stuff on my zaurus ....  ANYWAY .....  

Now, in the konsole (or after i\'ve run the konsole) i cant use any of these keys because the program grabs them ......  is there anyway to undo this getkey fuction??

Sharp ROMs / How do I set up a file association?

I\'m trying to get swf files associated with QFlashplayer and .nes files associated with ZFceu -- does anyone know how I would go about doing this?  I\'ve been attempting to modify my mime.types file but to no avail...  Now it says instead of application/octect-stream not found it\'ll say application/Zfceu not found (or what not)  any ideas?
