Software / Abookreader 0.9.0a
« on: December 27, 2006, 09:10:26 pm »
I downloaded the .ipk for this upgraded version of aBookReader from bam's site; also downloaded the abookreader.setting file to try to change the gui from Japanese to English, but I can't figure out how to overwrite this file on top of the old home/QtPalmtop/bin/abookreader.setting file. I tried to edit it in Zeditor and failed for lack of permissions. How can this be done? aBookreader works just fine, but I still can't read the settings.

I feel like a total noob. Help?

Software / Playing Order In Music Player
« on: November 19, 2006, 03:26:44 am »
As noted in my sig, I'm using CACkO 1.23 on my C860. Does anybody know of an application which will preserve the order of play of an album's of MP3 files? Example, I rip the Mediaeval Baebes' album Mirabilis to MP3s, they show up in my Xandros Linux machine's AmaroK installation as "01 - Star of the Sea", "02 - Trovommi Amor", etc.; but when I transfer the files to a CF card and play them in Music Player, they come up in alphabetical order by title  ... "All for Love of One.mp3", "Away.mp3", and so forth. I'd like them to play in album order. Suggestions?

Software / Sharp Camera Card
« on: May 01, 2006, 05:43:50 pm »
Hi, guys,
I'm pretty happy with the C860 running Cacko 1.23. I've only got one problem now, it's with the CE-AG06 camera.
It takes reasonable pictures with the software version included in the Cacko feed; the problem arises if I try to go to fullscreen with the viewfinder window. The Z immediately locks up and won't even suspend! I have to do a pull-the-battery reboot to get it going again. The software version is qpe-camera-ja, for reference, probably qpe-camera-ja_1.5.08_arm.ipk .

Security and Networking / Wifi Connection Problem
« on: February 27, 2006, 08:18:07 pm »
I'm trying to connect to my WAP ... or anybody's ... with my C-860 running CACkO 1.23 1029311005 "Nastya", following the directions in Maslovsky's FAQ for the 1.22 ROM. I'm using an Ambicom W1100C-CF card. I've edited the stettings per those instructions. So: My /home/etc/pcmcia/hostap_cs.conf file looks like this:

Code: [Select]
device"hostap_cs"
 Â class "hostap" module "hostap", "hostap_cs", "hostap_crypt_wep"

card "Ambicon WL1100C 802.11b CF--card"
 Â version "AmbiCom", "W1100C 802.11b CF--Card", "2.2"
#   manfid 0xd601, 0x0002
 Â bind "Hostap_cs"

# Optional configuration parameters for hostap_cs.o
# module "hostap_cs" opts "channel=3 iw_mode=3 essid=test ignore_cis_vcc=0"
# module "hostap_cs" opts "dev_template+eth%d"
 Â                                                                       /..

cardctl ident yields:

Code: [Select]
Socket 0:
 product info:"AmbiCom", "WL1100C 802.11b CF--Card", "2.2"
 manfid: 0xd601, 0x0002
 function: 6 (network)
Socket 1:
 no product info available

And I'm still not connecting.

Can anybody help here?

Sharp ROMs / Sync Software For Cacko 1.23
« on: February 19, 2006, 01:40:59 am »
Okay, so I've decided that I'm just not going to be able to sync to my Xandros box ... so I decided to go back to my Windows XP box and sync to that. I downloaded the drivers for the C860 from the ZUG downloads page and installed them to Windows by hooking up the 860 via the USB cable. It wouldn't sync to the version of Qtopia desktop I had for the Sharp ROM 3.13 for the 5500, so I uninstalled that and reinstalled the original Qtopia desktop from the 5500 install disk. That doesn't work either. Now what? (Foxdie's site with the combined Qtopia and drivers is down, and so's the mirror.)

Cxx0 General discussions / Wireless On C860
« on: February 17, 2006, 11:38:44 am »
Attempting to connect to my WAP, I time out before the connection is established.

I see in Maslovsky's FAQ for the 1.22 ROM that I should edit the etc/pcmcia/hostap_cs.conf file to only show my card (an AmbiCom WL1100C-CF).

Quote
Q: How to I get my wireless card to be recognised?
A: Check entry for your card in /etc/pcmcia/hostap_cs.conf file. Get details of your card with cardctl ident command. You can remove entries for all other cards so they don't get in your way. Also remember that you need to restart pcmcia after editing config file (/etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia restart)

Question is, should I comment out the others or remove them from the list entirely?

Cxx0 General discussions / Looking To Buy A Used/refurbed Z
« on: February 04, 2006, 09:09:31 pm »
My attempts to obtain a C1000 at a price I can afford have fallen through ... so now I'm looking at a C760 or C860. Which of these is more usable in the real world with Cacko 1.23? I'll be using it for PIM, wireless surfing, ebook reading, comix reading, carrying family pictures, and watching movie clips. I can just afford a C860 from PriceJapan.

Also on those lines, how big a card would I need to flash Cacko 1.23 onto my "new" machine? I've got  32MB CF and a 64 MB SD.

For Sale / Wanted / For Sale: Sl-5500
« on: January 22, 2006, 01:23:59 am »
The machine is not in pristine condition, it's showing a little wear around the corners; but it still works wonderfully well for a 5500. The plastic screen-cover broke; the CF card slot protector fell out and on to the subway tracks. I bought it last year, refurbed, on eBay.

However, I will include the extra battery I bought from Lauter, and the neoprene case from ThePouch.com, along with the USB cradle, the original windows install disk, and the battery extenders / rechargers I picked up from eBay. I'm keeping the wifi card, the CF card and the SD card I've been using.
It's runnning Sharp 3.13 right now but I can flash it to anything you want before I ship it.

All yours for $150 US shipped anywhere in North America. Money order, certified cheque or Paypal. Shipping on payment, by Canada Post insured parcel post.

Anybody interested?

Edit - I'm in Canada.
