Great condition, boxed, any desired rom installed if required. I'd like £120+postage for buy it now, or bid - maybe you'll get a bargain.

Cheers,

Mike.

If I recall correctly, you need to do:

/etc/rc.d/init.d/bcrypt start

For Sale / Wanted / Fs: C760 And/or C3100
« on: February 18, 2007, 08:18:19 am »
Sorry Snappy, the 760 is now sold.

As for the 3100, I don't know ... make me an offer. The ones that have sold recently, here or on ebay, have gone for between 200-250 GBP. Its negotiable, especially if you want any of the bits as well.

If anyone want to talk about this, PM me and I'll send you contact details.

Mike.

Neither of my Zs is getting the use it deserves these days, so its time to call it quits, at least partially. I want to sell one or both, although if one sells and the other doesn't, I won't be too sad.

I have:

a c760 in good nick. There are some scratches beside the words "Personal Mobile Tool" because of the little rubber bits on the lower edge of the screen, but that's all. The screen is in excellent condition, and has much better contrast than the 3200 in my view. In fact, the build quality is better generally.

It comes in its original box and manuals, but no CD or power supply. There is a USB cable for charging, and a serial cable which got be out of a few tight spots in its time. There is a spare lower capacity battery and battery cover.

The c3100 is in perfect nick. No scratches anywhere. Also boxed, and also with no CD. Manuals and UK psu are there, though.

The following bits and bobs are also available, either with or separately:

1 x 4GB Dane-Elec CF card
1 x 4GB Sandisk CF card
1 x 1GB Integral CF card
64MB Sandisk SD card
256MB Lexar SD card
Pretec bluetooth card
Socket low power ethernet card

There's also a IO Data CFXGA VGA out card, but I don't know whether it works, and I can't be arsed trying to find out (I could never get it to work with PDAXrom), so I'll throw that in for free for whoever buys one or both of the Zs.

Payment by cheque or money transfer, and delivery is at cost.

So, let me know if you are interested ...

Cheers,

Mike.

I have a Socket "low power ethernet" card. Works well. The only downside is that it's a very tight fit and it tries to break my thumbnail off when I need to take it out again.

Sharp ROMs / Dokuwiki

Don't know the answer to this, but in common with a few others here I've been using MoinMoin for some time. Its python based, also database free, and so its easy for me to keep the wiki on my Z and the copy on my server in sync.

... just in case you can't get docuwiki working.

My advice:

Make sure you have a good NAND backup of your current setup before you start.

Spend a bit of time reading others' experiences.

Choose the right version ... beta 4 and the new release 121 seem, from what I've read so far, to be for experimenters. I'm still using beta 1 because its absolutely stable for me. Others seem to say the same about beta3 ... I haven't had the inclination to change anything on my Zaurus for quite some time, because at the moment, it just works.

As usual, your mileage may vary.

Good luck!

As it says in the description, its pdaxrom. Looks like an older version, though.

Yep ... I compiled Bestcrypt a while back. See this thread. This is for 2.4.20, which was the kernel used in beta1. Has that changed in beta3? If so I can recompile if you like.

You've got a lot of work ahead of you then. I would suggest starting here:

And communicate the bad points you find back to the developers (which might mean leaving the safe ground of this forum and sending a mail...) so they can work on improving user stuff.

Good point.

Saying fooROM or barzaurus sucks without motivation isn't helping anybody (well, it's helping the developers to dislike you).

Don't think anyone's doing that in this thread. I'm not anyway, and apologies if it came across like that. I think its fair, in this case, to point out that the latest version isn't as stable as the recent previous versions. After all, if beta4 of pdaxrom were to be used by anyone for evaluation purposes, they would get an inaccurate impression of how good pdaxrom is.

So you'll need a SD/CF big enough (C1000/3200 is ~130MB) to hold the backup.

It also needs to be under 1GB in size.

I agree, don't try beta4. Its not beta quality yet.

I am using beta1. It has its quirks, for example suspend/resume can be problematic. I also find that if I reboot without first deleting /etc/mtab, it doesn't see any of the applications installed to my ext3 formatted sd card.

In general use, though, I find it very stable.

My advice would be to take a NAND backup and try all the other distributions. Each has their good and bad points. I don't think any of them covers all the bases. Its a question of finding one that does enough to make you stick with it.

These are not pdaxrom ipks. Why don't you just use the feeds? Mysql 4 is there. Portabase is there thanks to zdevil etc etc.

Search mail.pdaxrom.org for the stuff you need.
