Zaurus - pdaXrom / Wireless Question?
« on: May 14, 2004, 08:38:40 pm »
When I run kismet it crashes after a while. The time varys from 2 seconds to 3 minites, but it always happens. How do I stop this? The chanal seems to freez (In other words it stops scanning and locks onto one chanal). Methinks it may have to do with some other componet trying to enable one of the lan profiles, but I can\'t be sure.

Thank you for your time,

I fixed it on my Zaurus, by taking out the curent battery and putting in a spare, then reflashing.

I was using Abiword on my SL-C760 with the X11 ROM.
I pushed the \"print\" button
A dialog box was displaid (it was the print dialog box)
my Zaurus shut off
my Zaurus won\'t turn back on
I can\'t flash my Zaurus (I tried removing the battery, pluging into AC, inserting the battery, holding \'Ok\' on the back, then holding the \'on\' button on the back. Nothing happens. The yellow battery light still turns on when I plug it in.
What happend?
How do I fix it?
Help!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Powerful wireless Kerenl for the X11 ROM?
« on: December 10, 2003, 08:32:29 pm »
Is there a Powerful wireless Kerenl for the X11 ROM? Is the Kernel source available? So that I can try to add support myself? I would relly like to have the ability to

ifconfig wlan0 hw ether 00:11:22:33:44:55

Right now, I can\'t do that. I need a better wireless Kernel.

Also, how does cacko.biz make moeny? I don\'t see any place to were I can \"buy\" anything.... would it be possible for me to pay for a custom Kernel?

« on: December 10, 2003, 02:52:03 am »
How did you manage to get that working? I put my card in, type ifconfig, and all I see is lo. Did you do anything special to mount the card or something?
Thank you for your time,
Arrummzen

EDIT: OK I got that working. Why do I see eth0 with no wireless extensions not wlan0 with wireless extensions? Whats differnt about are systems?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Installing ipks
« on: December 09, 2003, 02:11:59 am »
Yep, I was right, the solution is as follows

1: go to
http://ipkgfind.handhelds.org/details.phtm...ficial=&format=
As you can tell there is a new version. Great, but how are we going to install it without ipkg working. Step two solves that...
2: Download the BINARYS You will see something like this on the page -
Files:
./usr/bin/ipkg
./usr/bin/update-alternatives

Download ipkg, and update-alternatives and copy them to /usr/bin.
3: It works now, enjoy.

NOTE: I don\'t know if this will fix the GUI install (I didn\'t check) but now you can install via the command line... thats good enough for me....

So, if you are say in Konqueror, and you push the home button you go back to the desktop?

If the SL-C760 and SL-C860 are so simmiler, why doesn\'t my home button but his does?

Im guessing its a problem with the ipkg system. Does anyone with a non-JP model have the same problem?

./configure ; make ; make install

works for programs that install that way.

By the way, you said you have an SL-C860, yes? Does your \"home\" button work?
