Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Outdated Angstom Wiki And Links

Hi,

Its been a looonnnngg time.

I figured I might as well hack my zaurus for the time being.
I'm thinking of making a wireless NAS out of it for light File sharing.

So, I have no idea now how to install Angstorm.
I looks like Angstrom is the most up to date distro...am I wrong?
I had zubuntu, but did a nand flash and now have the Sharp Rom installed.

Do I still need a update.sh, zImage.bin and initrd.bin?
I found a link on Angstroms site to build a custom install, but I have no idea what to do with it.
I also can't get a build to work.  I keep getting fails.  I just wanted X-11 or Opie.  SMB/NFS.  If I keep a minicomputer, maybe a web browser of some sort.

I'm sorry this is noobish, but I haven't touched my zaurus  in ages...I'm a noob again.

Good post. I guess plenty of us are wonder what's happening with kernel dev.

I would make sense to find out if the Debian community could provide zaurus kernel updates. Just like openbsd....

Debian / Last Kernel

hello,

i wish i upgrade to last kernel (at least 2.6.31, better : 2.6.32) ;
may i only apt-get install linux-image-2.6.32-trunk-versatile (or an other, like : linux-image-2.6.32-trunk-ixp4xx... which one ?)
or do i need to flash kernel an other way ; could someone tell me where we could easily find everytime the newest kernel ?

Debian / Apt Pinning

Found a nice newbie-friendly article on apt pinning, which enables the user to prioritize the repos in /etc/apt/sources.list instead of installing/upgrading things simply based on the versioning of the packages:

One immediate use I thought of is to assign the highest priority to jpmatrix's custom repo, so that 2or0's mplayer won't get replaced by apt-get dist-upgrade.  

My /etc/apt/preferences is pretty much exactly whats on that link plus a line to keep udev from upgrading.  Any others?  Maybe we should keep a list of potential apt pit falls.

Debian / Pretec 802.11g ?

Hi Guys,

Can some one help me get the Pretec 802.11g card working?

I came across this link that mentions the card is supported:

Where can I download the libertas_helper.fw and libertas.fw files?

Also, when I plug in my card the lights are not on.

iwconfig states no wireless extensions.

Hi how do I setup cack on a partitioned SD card? Zubuntu is running on the 1st partition.

I can't really compare it to Cacko, but it is MUCH snappier than Debian. There's a bit of lag in the heavier apps (Abiword, browsers, etc.), but it's usable. Webkit browsers work quite nicely.

Hope that answers your questions well enough.

I have found zubuntu slower than Debian.
