Sharp ROMs / playing wma files with Kino2 (mplayer)
« on: October 15, 2004, 12:53:19 pm »
Hi,

I have Cacko 1.21B,  with Kino2 installed. I tried to play some wma files that I have.
Kino did not do it as the file browser does not show wma files.

So, I use mplayer instead ... mplayer regconises the file, and loaded ffmpeg library to decode it ... but the output is extremely jerky, so much to a point it is not listenable ...

I have Zaurus C860.

Anyone has any ideas ?

Albert

I don't know if this helps, you need to specify the DNS on your bluetooth DUN applet ...

BTW, which ROM are you using to get chinese interface ?
And where can I get it ?

Thanks

Security and Networking / Bluetooth DUN not working ... please help
« on: October 10, 2004, 06:38:30 pm »
Hi,

I have been searching the forums all night, and cannot find an answer.

I followed the instruction to set up my Bluetooth CF with my T630 as described in

http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php...ename=Bluetooth

and

shirtpocket site

Everything is ok until I start DUN in Networks, it seems that Zaurus is trying to initiate the T630, but the BT CF just does not light up at all + there is no indication at all from the phone that things are happening.

I then tried

dund -c 00:0E:XX:XX:7F:XX
It seems to work, lights on BT CF and T630 blinks ...

sdptool browse
it works.

hciconfig
It works ...

Are there any commandline that test the DUN interface ?
How can I test /dev/rfcomm0 is working ?

Need help desperately ...

Thanks.

Sharp ROMs / Cacko ROM 1.21 kernel zImage
« on: September 29, 2004, 07:01:19 pm »
Hi,

I just found out that in order for my Cacko ROM 1.21B to support codepage 950, I need to recompile the kernel for it to support it ...

I was wondering where can I get the source code for the C860 Cacko 1.21 kernel source code, patches applied, and more importantly what setting has been made in menuconfig ...

Once I compile the zImage, how can I just update the kernel with minimum impact on my current Cacko system.

Some help would be nice.

Sharp ROMs / What would you like to see in Cacko 1.22 ROM?
« on: September 29, 2004, 06:51:53 pm »
maslovsky,

I wouldl ike to see NLS support on the new Cakco ROM. I use the Zaurus to talk to many different windows platform which uses different codepage, if NLS modules (ipks) could be made available for the kernel would be good.

PS: Can you point me to how I can get recompile the kernel for the Cacko ROM 1.21B with just an additional NLS support ??? And how to just reflash the zImage, without changing other things in the current Cacko 1.21B. I love the current ROM, and I am afraid to loose it when I muck about the the kernel.

General Discussion / Sync problem in WinXP
« on: September 07, 2004, 03:58:34 am »
I seemed to have got it to work, I have 2 situations:

1. At work: PC have internet access through proxy, but cannot directly connect to outside world. So, C860 connected to my PC has a different subnet. Ii can get it to use a proxy relay to browse the internet, and transfer files to and from PC, but it has no ability to see other computers on my work network without having my IT manager set up a routing table specific for my subnet.

2. At home: PC have direct access to internet via router. C860 connected to PC with NIC bridged mode, so is able to access all home network resources.

General Discussion / c860 music player not seeing unicode files
« on: September 06, 2004, 10:12:11 am »
Hi,

I was fiddling around with NFS with my C860. IT sort of works, but not to my liking.
I set up my NFS server on a windows machine using cygwin from the guide
http://www.csparks.com/CygwinNFS.xml

Once set up, I can use my cacko 1.21b C860 to mount filesystem. Using a console, I can cd into the directory, and see all files (even unicode files). However, this is the problem:

1. Music player on C860 file browser will just ignore any NFS mounted files or directories that have unicode charaters.

2. I tried using mplayer to play those files, and failed.

Can anyone tell me what I did wrong ?

Thanks.

Security and Networking / Proxy using TCP/IP over usb

Yes, it is going to limit my mobility, that is because I want to use the zaurusa to download files at work, and IT does not allow the Zaurus to be part of the network, and would not set up a route to my subnet.

Therefore, using proxy is my best bet.

I managed to get wget to talk to the proxy.

I think  what I need is the qcop command.

At home, I bridge Zaurus NDIS to my home network, and even without a proxy, opera works.

I figured out what was wrong. I need to enable DHCPS in /etc/hotplug/usbdnet.conf

IP=192.168.0.5
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
DHCPS=yes
#DHCPS=no
DHCPC=no
GATEWAY=192.168.0.1

I hope that helps ... if someone needed this info. Imay put that in a wiki.

Security and Networking / Proxy using TCP/IP over usb
« on: August 24, 2004, 08:12:18 am »
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to  configure usb tcp-ip to use proxy for browsing the web ?

I have a C860 with Cacko 1.21B, and cannot  configure it to use proxy when using USB TCP/IP.

I can do using wireless LAN, and in fact anything else.

Please help.

Thanks.

lardman,

1. I can ping everything on the network, just cannot sync with outlook.
When I start sync from the desktop, Ican see the Zaurus tries to sync, but then there are several identical pop-ups that says "Communication error" ...

So, something is wrong.  But I cannot find a solution on the forum.

As for WINS, I really don't want to add those DHCP assgined address to the hosts file, as they can change.

I hope someone can help me out on this.

Thanks.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help. I searched through this foruem, and got half the answers I wanted.

-I have a switch/router box 192.168.0.1
-I have several computers behind it, some uses DHCP from router, and others are fixed (as they provide some services)
-My zaurus is physically connected to a WinXP machine (192.168.0.4) in bridge mode.
Zaurus IP address is set to 192.168.0.5
-I manually added a default gw to the zaurus,
route add -net default gw 192.168.0.1 netmask 0.0.0.0 metric 1 usbd0
-On the zaurus, I am able to ping external sites like google.com ... etc, and I am able to browse internet using opera when usb connected.

Here are my questions:

1. I cannot sync the zaurus to my WinXP anymore., can anyone tell me what is wrong ?

2. How do I ping internal MS workgroup computers by name ?

Many thanks.

Best

Sharp ROMs / Cacko and VNC server
« on: August 18, 2004, 05:38:29 am »
Hi,

I have a C860, and I am using sdgsystem's VNC server for the SL-6000.
Once you have installed, rebooted and calibrated the screen. It works.

Note:Do not start VNCServer from QTDesktop. It doesn't work for me.

ssh into your zaurus as root, and start it from there.
#
#fbvncserver &

It works nicely.
