Lotsa pics. The HTC universal in black...

http://www.eprice.com.tw/news/?news_id=2913

I am starting to like this more and more. OK, it looks plasticky, but in a good way, in a rubbery plasticky way.

And I like the specs. Connectivity galore, videoconferencing, qwerty keyboard... I'm seriously going to follow this one.

General Discussion / Specification Of "new" Linux Handhelds
« on: April 07, 2005, 09:46:36 am »
Just a comment:

Referencing the 9300 as a bar phone is not correct. the 9300 most definitely is a clamshell. Also, the plug is indeed mini-A on the sl-c3000.

I can only applaud this effort to bring the linux protable devices to the attention of manufaturers. My hope is that with the advent of fully supported devices in other parts of the world than Japan, the developer community will warm to the idea of mobile Linux.

Regards,
Jan

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Zaurus Sl-c3000 Review

One minor nitpick, though: The C3000 is not the first Z with a directional keypad. The vertical units (5000, 5500, and 5600) all have this keypad. The one on the C3000 does look nicer.

You're correct, that slipped my mind.

Just wanted to give you all an update. I haven't really had a lot of time to fool around with my Zaurus, but I do use it every day. Ko/pi is an excellent PIM... As a sidenote, the lack of PIM applications was the reason I sold my sl-c750.

The mp3 player also gets daily use. Although I have an iPOD filled up with music, I don't listen to most of it. The most recent CDs I have put on the Zaurus and they get a daily listen. When I commute on the bus I read an e-book in opie reader or a pdf in Qpdf2 and listen to music from the zaurus through my iPOD earphones (which are a nice match fashion-wise...). Less gadgets=more convenience. Although on holidays I probably would still taken my iPOD with me, just to have everything at hand.

Cheers!

Damn fine review,

If I wasn’t already determined to have one, I am now.

The announcement for the 3100 is due this month, once the distinctions between it and the 3000 are clear then my order gets placed.

If I were you I would do the same. Wifi included would be a major boost. If it is not included I wouldn't wait for the next episode. That could take another 6 months, and including wifi through CF really isn't all that bad.

Maybe you should also add that at the end of step 1 you have to tap the screen. (In japanese it says something about tapping the screen to see if it works.) Then you are asked to calibrate the screen. Just hit the crosshairs. Then you can do the rest of the actions.

Hmm, all I can say is that I don't have the same problem. Maybe some Linux guru can tell you what log file to open to see what is going on with your network?

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Process For Building Pdaxrom From Scratch
« on: February 27, 2005, 09:35:28 am »
I am very excited about having pdaxrom on the sl-c3000. If you can pull it off, I would be happy to assist in testing your solution. I hope you get lots of help from the pdaxrom developers. Debian package compatibility sounds very interesting too. Success to you!

Very nice howto mammothrept. Not only useful for unbricking, but it also contains nice app suggestions.

For a more secure way of running opera, look here:

C1000/3x00 General discussions / New Zaurus Owner
« on: February 21, 2005, 08:34:20 am »
It has arrived. I received my sl-c3000 today. First impression is very favorable:

Screen beautiful as ever (I compare to my now sold sl-c750).
Keyboard much nicer than previous version (typing is a lot more fluid).
Heavier and bigger than 750, don't know if it will be a problem yet, I'll report on that in the full review.
Harddisk is nice, no more swapping CF card between wireless and storage.
Sandisk SD card works out of the box.
Asus wl-110 works out of the box with 128bits wep.

I ordered it through www.pulster.de. The chap was very nice and helpful, quick in its reply's and the zaurus+shipping to Belgium was 763,90EUR. Certainly recommended. He doesn't stock many accessory's though.

More results and pictures will be posted on the review on my website (see my signature). I have a very busy schedule until march 2nd so don't expect it before this date... You can always ask questions though.
