This device is very cool. It is not for people having trouble with there bank account every beginning of the month . Would love to see and test one. It should definitively be compared with an OQO instead of a Zaurus, even if it has the same battery life as a SL-700. ;-)

It's the best UPC available out there I guess. It is small enough for most common use. Just not enough for your pocket... put we are not there yet, are we?

Hardware Mods / Ultimate Zaurus: Sl-c13000 :-)

For me, the best Linux PDA/Smartphone would be a mix between the incoming QTEK 9600 and the already released SL-C3200 hardware. A new dream machine.

I'm a new guy here and wanted to know if you guys think I should get the SL-C3200 when it comes out or stick with the more known SL-C3100 or SL-C1000. I'm thinking of making this may laptop replacement for college. I will also bring my PC to college which I'd keep in my dorm room. You think this is a great strategy?

The SL-C860 was to the SL-C760 what the SL-C3200 is to the SL-C3100. In a few months, we will certainly see a bigger move from Sharp.

Btw, those Sharp device are great to play with. It's better to select the last one if money is not an issue for you.

VGA screens + buttons on the side to control media player & sound recording (with protection to avoid mistakes like on Psion S5mx case) + jog dlal for easy brothing and sound volume control.

And why not... an open specification to be able to port Linux easily (phone part...).

I bought a QTEK 9000 in october 2005... I stopped to use my SL-C760 the same day.

The QTEK 9000 and 9100 are really impressive. The missing feature : CF slot + HD + Linux. The added feature : (...) read it by yourself : http://www.qtek.eu.com

This device is sold by a few other companies with different names. Perhaps names matter to you (it doesn't matter to me).

I miss Linux. That's it. A port is in progress. GPE and OPIE already run on it.

This device has the hardware specification that most Zaurus users dreamed of. All is there!

The harddrive is missing ? CF port too ? My SD 1Go is enough for me and I didn't want to bring a stone.
Previous MS embedded OS was really crapy. This one is quite cool. Not perfect but this time they have begun to think about everyday users needs. I can't leave without it (I'm addicted ?)

Run Linux on it ? Why not ? GPE, OPIE, Qtopia, pdaXrom ? I would miss to much thing at present. Between "closed open source" and "official closed source" software, well I vote for a working device. If it was Qtopia Phone, it would have been the same isn't it? Well perhaps not. I can install software and build mine with real RAD, even run/debug them in an emulator...

The only very stable rom I ever found for my Zaurus SL-C760 is the Sharp one. The Zaurus are still good device but I wanted an easy and powerful smartphone and now I've got one. I know what I lose, I know what I earn.

Have fun with your own choice. Just be happy

This is like Design Communism - all vendors have the same spawned design in hardware.
How about bringing in some creativity and making them lok apart - like the Zaurus is ?

I couldn't resist. I have bought a 9000 yesterday . I'm communist ?

The best device I have ever seen and used so far. For the first time, I like an MS device. Very amazing !!!

Someone want to buy my Zaurus SL-C760 ? I leave in Paris (France). 350 euros.

The Qtek 9000 and 9100 are very amazing ( http://www.qtek.fr ). I tested a 9100 because I've got a friend with one. He was playing with his device instead of working ;-).

The 9100 is so small... Amazing !!! I will perhaps bye one. I need a good smartphone. The 9000 is even better but I haven't been able to " play " with one.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom For This?
« on: November 16, 2005, 07:12:38 am »
This device is really interesting but you must notice this : the company Pontis has been sold.

No way to contact them by email. You won't have support nor spec nor (...) from them I guess.

The size is impressive. The feature too. A little PDA but with real multimedia capacity. Standard battery life. Less battery than the archos.

But I guess that Pontis is just a reseller.

If I can expect the basic functions to work well (I mean, if I don't have to take out the battery twice a day to cure a freeze and if I don't loose my calendar files) I'll try at once.

Thierry

You are not alone Thierry, you are not alone to experience this kind of freeze. I have them since the beginning (first RC) and nobody complain. Why ? You should be ready for the answer : "this is open source. Want something else ? Build it ! Fix it ! Share it if you want to.".

To never trust ! Never ever !

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Rc10 Out For Testing..
« on: June 13, 2005, 04:14:40 am »
Hi everyone,

It's my turn to download and test pdaXrom Rc10 (at last ). Just a question: why RC10 is not on www.pdaxrom.org as all others RC? Tell us the truth!

What is unrealistic is not the features that you list but the hope that Sharp will provide them.  That hope is gone now so there is no point on my holding off any longer on buying a new Zaurus.

Basically, I mind more about not having a Zaurus than Sharp does.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=83337\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I agree with you.

I'm angry with Sharp HP Motorola Nokia Texas Intrument Sony and all other harware manufacturers. It's like if they didn't want to do anything on the software side and now they begin to be lazy on hardware too.

YOU WON'T HAVE MY MONEY !!!!!!!

(Appologize for the previous post rebski. Wasn"t against you.)
