Please post your cardctl ident and cardctl status and all other info you can find about the card (links to drivers etc.) - then we will try and fix them one at a time and try and make sure that pdaXrom supports as many accessories as possible.

We will probally be holding an IRC meeting with all user who are having problems with hardware but this is meant to be a warm up to see how many problems there are and how much time it will take to fix them.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Status Update 2
« on: December 25, 2004, 02:02:49 pm »
Hey everybody - as I write this we are currently preparing files for uploading to the servers. This means that RC8 (yes we jumped a couple of steps) is going to be out within the next 24 hours. We hope you all are satisfied with the result of our hard work after almost 1 year of programming - yes the pdaXrom project started only 1 year ago.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Status Update..
« on: December 03, 2004, 03:53:55 am »
Yes we are expecting the next RC to be available this weekend together with SDK etc.

Among the new features are (which haven't been discussed before):
 - Configuration of the right stylus/mouse button, it can be press and hold (as it is today as standard), a modifier key and stylus click.
 - Better and updated X server with better rotation
 - Hopefully the "big fonts" in PDA mode is fixed too.
 - NTPD support
 - Timezones
 - Support for the CE-RH1 remote control (thanx to http://www.Trisoft.de for donating one for testing)

Futhermore we expect the pdaX86 to be released soon after too - which allows you to run the pdaXrom system on you regular pc - for developers this makes developing appliactions etc. a lot easier.

Developers: Don't worry no need to recompile anything. If you program worked under RC5 it works under RC7 too - but the new SDK adds some new features.
Also keep you pants on recompiling to many different programs - the next release will include an even wider spectrum of "precompiled" programs, like: VLC, Mplayer, Firefox 1.0, Thunderbird 0.9 etc. :-)

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Screen flickering..
« on: November 15, 2004, 09:41:41 am »
Could all the user who are complaing about screen flickering in pdaXrom please try this:

https://www.oesf.org/forums/inde...wtopic=8487&hl=

A bit down in the post..

Be carefull and we don't take any responsibility for broken hardware - allthough it should brake anything..

Edit: Please try different settings until you get the desired result - i had to do 3-4 trys - but now my screen is rock solid and ultra sharp..

Could people please post their values for COM and LCD.

A good way to test for ok results is to rotate screen to "pda mode" and then run dillo and resize to full window. The windows top title should not flicker, have shadows etc.

Quick guide for entering and changing it:
1. Leave gui, bring menu up and exit.
2. Enter reboot at commandline and keep d and m pressed
3. After a while a menu will popup - select with pen and press on "1. Com adj setting."
4. You can use arrows up/down/left/right for chaning values. When you found best settings press on "Update" onscreen.
5. Select "2. LCD Phase Setting" and use same procedure as 4.
6. Now select "Page up" three times and selec "Extra menu" and then "9. Reset".
10. Turn on Zaurus after power off and then try the above "dillo test".

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Next generation pdaXrom.org site
« on: November 02, 2004, 11:26:19 am »
So many people are talking about the new pdaXrom site so i thought i would ask for a little feedback.. (Please post links to the things you refer too)

1. If were going to use a content management system what do you the user prefer? Xoops look okay but also quite "limited"

2. What bugreporting system should we use? Bugzilla looks kinda overkill - that might just be me :-)

3. What system should be used for "open documentation"/Faq? Wiki etc?

Please also post whatever crazy ideas you might have..

27
Zaurus - pdaXrom / Are you running pdaXrom and for what?
« on: November 02, 2004, 11:22:20 am »
I was just taking a break from "work" and was wondering two things:

1. How many people run pdaXrom - based on our visitor counter/downloads etc. it quite a few people. (73056 IPK downloads :-)

2. What do you use if for (PIM ;-), Networking/WiFi hacking, miniPC) - post what you use it for and what your run on it. Post screenshots/Links to screenshots if you think your pdaXrom looks extra cool.

28
Zaurus - pdaXrom / Most important missing/to be fixed in pdaXrom?
« on: October 26, 2004, 05:06:36 pm »
We are almost done with the next and maybe final RC - so we decided to do a "poll" on what you guys would love to see fixed and/or implemented in the upcomming final pdaXrom 1.1.0.

So post your comments and wishes in this thread - and if your wish is already posted by someone else please don't repost.

We can't guarentee we can fix it or add the feature you wish for but we sure will try - except for those asking for Half Life 2 etc. ;-)

Then when we have looked through all the request/ideas we will probally setup a real poll.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom Forum Guidelines/"rules"
« on: October 19, 2004, 11:30:11 am »
Okay we are currently drowning in people who are cross posting and asking questions in completely "wrong" threads which are not related to the subjects etc. So I have put together some small guidelines/”rules” for using the pdaXrom part of ZUG forum. This is not because I want to control everything but I want to make it as easy as possible for everybody to find what they are looking for.

Here goes…

1. Always first check that you question isn’t already answered in the FAQ on http://www.pdaXrom.org

2. Search the forums by using the above search function and see if someone already haven’t posted something about “your topic” – its better to “reopen” and old thread than to have 5 different about the same.

3. If you reading a thread and you all of the sudden have a question that you think some of the people writing in the thread could answer – consider if your question is directly related to the thread/discussion – if not the check point 1 and 2 – if you didn’t find the answers there, then make a new thread. Most people read all the new threads so you question will most likely be answered.

4. Use good “topic titles” and “topic descriptions” – they make it easier for other users to quickly see if there are any threads that they can help with/are interested in.

5. Avoid asking too many unrelated questions in one thread. Better to make two and for each thread follow these guidelines.

6. If you ask a question and get a good answer, related to pdaXrom :-), please feel free to PM me, that way we can add it to the FAQ on http://www.pdaXrom.org – thereby you solution might also help other users.

7. Please use the formatting for code and quote when posting – it makes reading a lot easier.

8. When posting please always state what Zaurus and ROM version your running/having problems with etc. If you have it in your “signature” please keep it updated and also keep in mind that when you change it all old posts are also updated with you new signature so that might “confuse” people when reading old posts.

9. Always try to help out with you experience and problems - you don’t have to post with problems only, feel free to post if you have come up with a genius way to make something work better, run faster etc.

10. Before asking question why something doesn’t work or why something is working “wrong” please check the buglist on http://www.pdaXrom.org – if your problem/bug is “global”, and not just a request for somebody to port your favourite game ;-), then please post a bug report and feel free to post a thread too with a description and maybe a link to the bugreport. That way we avoid double bugreports and at the same time some of the users might come up with a solution.
11. Always check the pinned subjects for most recent information and updates.

12. Remember to donate to ZUG or/and click their banners – they need you support as much as the pdaXrom project.

13. If you have found the way to make stone into pure gold don’t post directly – just PM me with the info :-)´

14. If your posting problems with flashing or running programs write your zaurus type, pdaXrom version, etc. With problems running programs please run from terminal and post output from commandline.
