Zaurus - pdaXrom / Developers: Problems with programs for Kathrin RC2
« on: August 22, 2004, 07:21:53 am »
There have been a couple of posts regarding "broken" programs for the Kathrin RC2.

These problems are due to use of the first Cacko X11 ROM developer software - please get the latest version from pdaXrom and try compiling again - this should solve the problems.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / What do you prefer...
« on: June 07, 2004, 06:44:18 am »
We are currently working on the next release of the pdaXrom and we are having some dicussions regarding default GUI/panel/window manager etc.

We are currently leaning towards ROX and maybe fbpanel or mb-panel. We could also stay with matchbox as it seems to be the best PDA gui.

So we thought we would ask you guys about your oppion. What do you think makes the best/fastest flexible combination of \"panels, windows managers\" etc. to make the default GUI? Please write you details and explain why you like it and if it feels fast and good etc. Amd no i don\'t wan\'t to create a poll - and please don\'t start a poll on wheter i should start a poll or not :-)

Bonus question:
We are currently talking about replacing all the \"built-in\" prefs/settings programs with python+pygtk - how do you feel about that?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Minimo and Thunderbird released
« on: May 08, 2004, 09:02:46 am »
Today Minimo 0.1 and Mozilla Thunderbird 0.6 was compiled and released for the Sharp Zaurus series running the pdaXrom (mirror site) - these two new releases makes the Zaurus series one of the most powerfull pda\'s around. The Minimo browser is really fast and Thunderbird gives you a full-fledged e-mail (pop3 and IMAP) client right there in your hand (not palm), although Thunderbird is a bit slow on starting up. All you need is a net connection (wireless or fixed) and pdaXrom.

And speaking of neat little tools for your Zaurus and its wireless card, Kismet has
also been released - it makes a nice addition to your Zaurus when your are out on the road or just \"walking\" around in the neighborhood looking for security holes so you can report them ;-)
A quick FAQ on how to setup and use Kismet on your Zaurus can be found here or here.

The programs(ipk feed) and screenshots are located here (mirror).
