Zaurus - pdaXrom / Is There A Beta 3 For Sl-c750?
« on: September 01, 2006, 01:15:04 pm »
er, ok..

what about a "grand unified" beta? or 1.2? where we can once again know that
there is a version NUMBER that all models can dl (and compile / release against).

I have a 760 -- so I'm not sure if beta4 will even work, or if the uloader will
chomp the thing or what.

beta5?

has there been any release of anything since sash has moved to .br?

instead of perpetual beta, rc and then back to beta ... how about we just get
a 1.2 and then start subbing out like 1.2.1 and stuff...  haven't we been in
1.1 beta for about 16 months now?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / 1gb Sd Card & C760 Problem
« on: June 04, 2006, 09:40:04 am »
I've not seen any fix to this.
I have 512MB cards.. and they always end up getting an io error.
the cards seem to be damaged or unusable after that.

I'm pretty much stuck writing SDs on  another device and using them
in the z as read only.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Rom's & Feeds For C860 (boxer/corgi)

I didn't realize that Yelich's feed directory for beta2 was empty. I had already copied the feed from this beta2 feed link, but that link may be gone now. If you are going to be trying beta2, perhaps I could upload my copy of the feed to Yelich's site? I've gone back to beta1 on the C860 for the present, as pgas's compilation of beta3 didn't recognize my Socket bluetooth card and a couple of other minor things. Could have been easily fixable, but I didn't have time to sort it out.

I got feed.tar.gz -- but then I guess I never went back to untar it.
gimme 30 seconds.

Code: [Select]
scottyelich [1374]> ls
feed         kathrin-1.1.0beta2-corgi.zip         zgcc-3.4.5.img
feed.tar.gz  kathrin-1.1.0beta2-corgi.zip.md5sum  zgcc-3.4.5.img.md5sum
scottyelich [1375]> ls feed | wc -l

scottyelich [1376]> du -s -k feed

I think the two parties have different enough goals that anything but occasional collaboration can be expected.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=125525\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Are their goals documented?
If so I would like to read them so that I might find it easier to plug in to a spot down the read and start helping out.

yea... check out the flame wars last year :->

zodttd: sorry but during last months I concentrated rather on making OZ releases then on helping users with complex tasks (like using OE, getting stuff from OE to use it with any other enviroment etc).

Currently my main problem is lack of time for myself - spending >50% of time with computer is something which I want to avoid.

BTW openttd - last version which I build was 0.4.0 which (thx to YoG) now works (files was missing in package). It have some build errors when 0.4.7 tried..

what? only 50%   I've been doing 12-18 hrs a day... for the past 6 months. :-/

I need a vacation.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / When Will Pdaxrom Move Out Of Beta?
« on: April 14, 2006, 12:16:03 pm »
to me... beta.. here...means that things may not work, and that things may change.

of course, those things that do work -- work very very well.

That is, you can compile, develop and run programs... and those will be rock solid.

You want key mappings to suite your needs and have a nice gui interface to set
it up and have all that integrated into the os release? well... maybe not.

For me -- the beta is not a thing that would prevent me from using the zaurus, the
os ... or from upgrading (releases, etc).

There *was* a big change regading libraries (floating point libs?) around beta1
rc5 ... but after that, the changes have not been so intrusive.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Endless Games With Amiga Emulator?

last tme I tried hatari on 700... it was too slow to use.
stonx was faster, but wasn't there.

too bad the steem guys won't open heir source.  steem on a pc is
awesome.

I'm ok with the emulators now -- it's clear I/we have to wait for the
next step up in cpu performance.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom Needs A Better Music Player!
« on: February 17, 2006, 09:17:44 am »
off topic:

Actually, hrw -- I would *love* to see a chart with the roms and the advantages and disavantages of each -- on that's kept up to date.  In that format, I wouldn't mind if
everything was compared to OZ.  These have been attempted in the past, but they
were either poorly done, not complete or not maintained.

back on topic:

For me, I like to have mp3s playing while I do something else -- ie: code ...
I tend to want to use the zaurus when I travel -- and I remember the last
time I flew 8+ hours and attempted to use the zaurus (pdxv?) -- it would
go to sleep every 15-20 minutes (3-4 songs) and that silence would jolt
me awake... so my experience flying was from the 2nd or 3rd hour until
the 7th -- getting woken up every 15 minutes.

Yes, I think this has been fixed now.

So, to me, the *screen* interface isn't as important as the basic stuff like
not going to sleep while listening to music -- making the jog wheel do
volume in a sane way.... making the enter/cancel do something like
next/last (in a sane way) -- and, if possible, disabling the off button :->

libmad also helps -- otherwise, the mp3 playback just takes too much
cpu.

When my zaurus is running and I am not travelling, I tend to access it
via ssh and send remote X clients to a larger pc.  This is when I would
like to arrange playlists -- but when I play on the zaurus, I really only
need load playlist, and play.

Scott
ps:  which is why I went to a script to kill the apm, mplayer the mp3...
not much interface there (unless I wanted to have the keyboard open)

Hello

Every package I download from www.pdaxrom.org/unstable is corrupted (I cannot extract it). Is there any problem with it?
I used zaurus.spy.org/feeds instead but now is closed. Can anyone have copied unstable pdaxrom feed?

thnx

Hmm?  what do you mean closed?

my system has been running pretty solid for 2 years -- this week it became unresponsive twice.  Once was for two days, the second was for about 4 hours... it's been running fine since Saturday.

You can always email me directly at scottyelich@gmail.com  (bypasses spy) to contact me.

Scott
ps: the box is renewed through November.  Unless the hardware dies, or some lame crackers get in and destroy the place -- it's not going anywhere.

damn... nice
I pay $59/mo and have my own host and 2000GB/mo -- I don't
go anywhere near that -- and the site sppears to have pretty decent connection
to the net.

So, can I get a site where you are :-)  what's the name of the place?
