Zaurus - pdaXrom / New Pdaxrom Release R197
« on: June 08, 2007, 02:52:43 pm »
I'm still getting the apm error (on my c760):

sharpsl-pm sharpsl-pm: Error: AC check failed.
sharpsl-pm sharpsl-pm: Charging Error!

.. which prevents the battery from charging, and makes the zaurus unable to resume from sleep.

Running apm reports the AC online, with battery status critical (5%).

Any ideas?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Resuming Problem
« on: February 07, 2007, 06:33:13 pm »
Hey guys.  It's been a while.

I just installed 1.1.0r121 on my c760 and everything seemed to go smoothly, but now whenever I suspend, that's the end of it - it never resumes.  Power button, Home, .. nothing has any effect.

I also noticed that it can't seem to read the battery status.  If I type apm at a shell, it reports battery critical @ 5%.  I'm getting an error - sharpsl-pm sharpsl-pm: Error: AC check failed during boot.  I dunno if the two problems are related, but maybe it thinks the battery is too low to resume.

Any ideas?

BTW - I really like the blinking memory access light.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Needsl-c7x0/860 Owner With Sd Mmc Cards Bigger 1g

Hey Sash,

I'd really like to try this driver to see if it fixes my suspend/resume problem with I/O errors on the SD card.  Can you post it somewhere or PM me?  I have a c760 and a 2gb that I can test with it as well.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Linux 2.6

Hi, a few month ago I tried to run pdaxrom using the kernel. I replaced in the updater files from pdaxrom the files related to the kernel with the ones from OZ, but at boot time I got a error about a missing terminal.

Well I'm not too worried about these problems.. I'm more worried about there being a bunch of pdaXrom-specific stuff in the kernel that needs to be ported to 2.6.

Getting the boot sequence right is just a matter of trial and error.

You mean you used the OpenEmbedded (OE) buildsystem powered by bitbake to build OpenZaurus (OZ)?

Exactly.  I built the gpe-image of OZ 3.5.4.  While the system was more robust (more packages, Linux 2.6.14-rc1, seemed to track more closely to debian) all of the graphical stuff was years behind pdaXrom.  Everything just works better on pdaXrom.  Faster X server, special keys work, etc.  Which makes sense because pdaXrom really only targets Zaurus, and mostly the clamshells.

So I gave up and went back to pdaXrom, and the only thing I *really* miss is 2.6.  I still have the recurring problem of I/O errors every 3rd or 4th resume.  My patch helps a little, but the sharp driver is *very* broken.

Hey sashz,

I played with OZ/bitbake a few weeks ago and while the userspace stuff has a long ways to go, Linux 2.6 seemed a lot snappier and included a GPL version of the SDMMC driver (solving the I/O error on resume once and for all).

Is it a huge deal to get pdaXrom running on top of it instead of 2.4?  Admittedly I haven't tried yet but I recall there being at least a video patch or something in there for the X server, and doubtless others.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Rc11
« on: September 20, 2005, 04:10:17 pm »
We can never have enough of these so..

I just installed rc11 and man... pdaXrom rules so much it's hard to express.  Everything seems to "just work" the way it's supposed to.  And given what you guys had to start with (practically undocumented product with miserable source from Sharp), it's unbelievable.

Just donated and I plan to keep it up!  Laze, Sashz, and everyone else who contributed code or money.. thank you so much.

Hi guys,

Is anyone still working on pdaxrom?  Is there an RC10 in the near future?

Linux 2.6 is looking pretty good on the 7x0 series these days... It's much more stable and smoother than 2.4; is there a near future prospect?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Zaurus Ui Freezes If Suspended Too Long

I have an SL-C750 and if it is left suspended for more than one day, the touchscreen and keyboard go dead on wakeup.  ...  The ON/OFF button on the back of the zaurus still works, but suspend/resume does not get the touchscreen/keyboard working.

Wow.. I thought I was the only one.  *Exactly* the same behavior here on my C760.  Odd.

Also, in case my patch was corrupted by the description field on bug ID 245, here's a binary.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Hardware problems with pdaXrom..
« on: January 05, 2005, 01:47:38 am »
I think the socketcom firmware in the spectrum24 driver is old.. my locally compiled driver works ok (under my own kernel), but the one with 1.1.0-rc8 seems to overdrive the antenna or something.  Oddly, cupping my hand over the antenna seems to improve the signal quality.   Quite strange.

Anyway, I attached my spectrum_fw.h generated from the latest firmware on Socket's web site.  Can you check if it differs, and if so, recompile the driver against rc8's kernel?  Alternatively, could you post your kernel source?

Thanks!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Kathrin RC8 Is Out..
« on: January 04, 2005, 04:07:53 pm »
Wow... this is my first experience with pdaXrom.  I've been following it for the last 6 months, but have been holding my breath running a custom Debian/OZ hybrid.

YOU GUYS ROCK!

This is the most impressive thing I've ever seen on babygord (C760 )

Thanks for this *solid* release!
