For Sale / Wanted / Wanted: C1000 Or C3000 Or C860?

Hello

I would like to upgrade my SL5500 to clamshell model. What would you advice me and where I can buy it? I don't mind 2nd hand, my 5500 is also 2nd hand and I was absolutelly satisfied with it.
I didnt buy anything on Internet till today (exept some CD's from amazon) so advice me please about paying methods. I dont have PayPal account but I can create any if needed. I live in Slovakia (now EU) so shipping to Europe is required.

Sharp ROMs / Hybrid Rom documentation

I've played with Cacko Hybrid ROM a while ago and I've found out that I like much  features it has (home on jffs2, qtopia installable to RAM, jffs2, SD), but I didnt like Qtopia look and feel. So basically I took ROM part, added some software in it (patched kernel IRDA for T610 phones, ssh, midnight commander, etc ...) and took Qtopia part from TKCrom 2.0 alpha, made some changes (added cyrillic keyboard from Cacko 1.22, neocalc, time applet, unicode fonts, changed install script to be Qtopia installable also on CF card (i didnt had SD)) and now I'm quite happy SL 5500 user. The rom has features from hybrid but is fully compatible with Sharp 3.10 sync appz (intellisync, qtopia for win), has ipkg old and new, I can use Hancom, Jeode, Opera packages from TKC rom and everything is working quite well. Now I'm trying to add bluetooth support to this ROM and create packages for other Qtopias (1.6.2, 2.1.1) to install and switch between them. If someone is curious I can upload this ROM somewhere for you to try.

Urobil som upravu klavesovych map pre SL-5500 s pouzitim cyrilic keyboard z Cacko rom pre c7xx seriu. Upravene su hardwarova aj softwarova klavesnica.
Jazyky: cesky, slovensky, anglicky
Ak bude nejaky zaujem pripravim ipk a niekde ho hodim

Hello

I have strange problem with USB networking. I am using USB net against Windows 200 Dell Latitude D600 notebook.  When connect Z do cradle and switch it on, everything works for some minutes. Then connection to Z (within 5 minutes) dies without ay reason. I Have to switch Z out and on to have connectivity. Anyone encountered this problem? Need patch kernel or something?

I am using Cacko hybrid rom kernel (with patches for IRDA T610) and TKC rom Qtopia on it installed on SD.

Sharp ROMs / Which Sharp-based Rom Do You Use?

I am using Cacko Hybrid rom for 5500 64-30 with some changes (included mc, sshd etc ...) in rom and as Qtoplia GUI I am using part of TKC rom with also some changes (added neocalc, a few of applets, cyrillic keyboard from 1.22 Cacko rom with slovak and czech keymaps for 5500), installed on 128 SD card.  Qtopia can be installed on SD or CF card. If someone is curious to try my cross rom give reply.

I had problem with Opera 7.55 on my 5500. It didnt display some pages and waited with message "waiting for user-confirmation of cool" I'm back to 6.0 from sharp rom 3.13

General Discussion / New Zaurus This Summer?

I am quite happy user of SL 5500:
My wishlist for new zauri
1) Builtin BT and WiFi (every 2nd PDA now has it)
2) 128 Megz of RAM, 128 Megz of Flash
3) 600 Mhz processor
4) Microphone, Reproduktor - Z to be also digital recorder
5) Underlit keyboard - user selectable
6) Better battery - at least 8 hours of work should be good :-)
7) Hardware buttons in PDA mode
Maybe 800x600 and bigger screen
9) what else???

I am planing to upgrade my 5500 do some clamshel design.
Can any1 tell me what are main differences between C860 and c1000?
Pros, cons etc ..  I've read that c860 has some better params and features than 1000.

Thanks for great post... But still I dont know where the directory /home/zaurus/Applications come from? I searched all /mnt/floppy and /mnt/net but i didnt find where the files which belong to directory /home/zaurus are hiden in initrd.bin.

Hello,
I found solution about mounting cacko rom here https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=11963 - if someone is looking for it, but still I dont know how compatible are binaries between SL-5500 and SL-C7xx? Because I read that I cannot use kino2 on 5500 due to compiled on other processor.
Can anyone clear my mind about compatibility binaries?

Hello. I have 2 questions. Can I run binaries for SL-C7xx models on SL-5500? And second question is how can I mount initrd.bin from cacko 1.22 ROM on linux box to read it and rip off some applications and applets? I have SL-5500 and I would like to use some features from cacko 1.22 rom on my Z. Thnx much for help
