Wait until you see the Sharp 802 and 902 cellular 3G phones (902 available in the UK on Vodafone), it's like a zaurus but in a cellphone, the screen rotates and flips back on itself with a 2.1 megapixel camera built in

I'm getting one next month, it's the nads

When will all the updates be available in the main rom download for re-flashing?

I'm stuck without my WiFi card working, without WiFi I have no way of getting my Bluetooth card from working

On another note, is there any software out there that will let me scan for Bluetooth devices other than a DUN search for phones. It would be nice if I could connect to say another pda with Bluetooth, laptop, Bluetooth headset for wireless headphones.

My laptop can do it and it would be amazing if my pda could too

Sorry fox, 99% of Bluetooth CF cards don't support any type of audio profile. This appears to be a hardware limitation of the cards.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Connect To The Net With Gprs Through Bt

Hi vinfong, I know you've already solved your problem but I feel I have to add some more information here (I work for a major cellphone network)

Sony Ericssons do have a bug with their AT modem commands where verbose is off by default, they also use a different init string than most.

Whereas most AT modems will be able to connect to GPRS with the init string at+cgdcont="1","IP","internet" and the dial up number *99# (in particular Nokias use this method), Sony Ericssons use a different format.

This is what people should do to make sure they're using the right profile for dialling up on a Sony Ericsson.

Go into Menu > Connectivity menu, now on some phones at this point it varies, some people have "Data Comms", some people have "Internet". You may need to poke around a bit, what you need to do is look for "Data Accounts" or "WAP Profiles" or something like that.

Then you need to find the profile in particular that you want to connect up with, for the Vodafone network (I work for them) you need to find the profile with the word "Internet" in it if you're a contract (pay monthly) customer or "Vodafone PrePay" profile if you top up your phone's credit in advance. Find the right profile and view the info on it, it'll give you an ID number, for 99% of Vodafone Sony Ericssons the "Internet" profile will be ID number 3.

Then you use the init string atz or the one listed above, and the dialup number *99**ID# where ID is replaced with the profile ID. That should get you set up.

If you need the multimedia (picture messaging) settings, CSD or GPRS (both wap) settings for your handset you can obtain them from the following links depending on manufacturer sent as a sms (text) message to your phone:

Drop it down to 22050Hz Sample rate, that appears to be the apex of quality / stutter.

11025 doesn't stutter at all but sounds crap

Is this the cable you're looking for?

[img]\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /]

If so I don't mind giving it to you but you'll have to arrange collection because I don't have time to arrange postage. It came with my mobile (Sony Ericsson V800) and I don't use it as I have a card reader / bluetooth enabled laptop.

Send me a PM if you're interested.

Accessories / Cf To Ide Adapter
« on: December 11, 2004, 02:03:50 pm »
of course, there are loads of adapters for connecting CF cards to IDE interfaces, but nothing to connext IDE drives to CF slots.
We've got CF-> PCMCIA adapters, and PCMCIA->IDE adapters...  now that this product exists, wouldn't it be great to be able to plus it into the Z with a minimum of extra adapters?

I don't think one exists.

Try CF > USB adapter and then USB > IDE Adapter

It puzzles me too. Some ROM's can play Quake with a comfortable 20~ Frames Per Second but cannot decode DIVX in realtime, but others are the exact opposite.

You'd think we'd have a ROM that could do everything by now

If you provide more information I will try and help you (I work for Vodafone lol).

What init string are you using?
What dialup number are you using?
What cell operator are you using?
What country are you in?
How are you trying to connect? GPRS or CSD?

Your script should look something similar to the following:

# cat /etc/ppp/peers/VodaGPRS
connect '/usr/sbin/chat -s -v ABORT "NO CARRIER" ABORT "NO DIALTONE" ABORT "BUSY" "" at+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet" OK ATDT*99# CONNECT'
user "web"
connect-delay 6000
remotename VodaGPRS
