For Sale / Wanted / For Sale: Partially Damaged C860
« on: February 15, 2006, 06:34:19 am »
I don't want to have to sell this, I love my Z, but real life has to come first :/

I'm selling my C860. It's in working order, presently has pdaXrom installed, the only thing wrong with it is I somehow managed to fry the CF card slot, there's a black burn mark around one of the pins on the connector. Unit also has minor scuffs from regular use.

This may be fixable by someone with microsoldering experience, sadly I don't. It is fully  working bar this one point and comes with a UK mains PSU, non-original stylus (lost it so took one from an older pda) and a serial cable.

I'll be changing jobs soon and I plan to invest in at least a C1000 but for now I have bills to pay.

I'm looking for around £150 or nearest offer (including shipping within the UK), I may also ship worldwide but this will cost extra. Methods of payment are direct bank transfer, paypal (5% extra to cover their costs please) or if you can get to Birmingham then cash-in-hand would be acceptible.

General Discussion / Sdio On C860 Update?
« on: January 26, 2006, 05:03:25 am »
The reason why I'm creating this thread seperately from the pinned topic about C860 SDIO as this is more of a personal problem.

A couple of months ago I tried an old CF WiFi card in my C860 that for some reason permanently damaged the CF slot. I was gutted at this and as such started to use my Z less and less.

It's only when I've moved home and unpacked all my gear I've thought "I need to use my Z more.."

Recently, with newer model Z's coming out the talks on whether the C860 is SDIO-compatible has become stale. SDIO is now my only way to get any form of "comfortable" Internet access on my Z.

I was taking a look at this eBay Auction and wondered would this or any other SDIO WiFi card work with the C860? I'm not bothered which ROM, although naturally I'd prefer it to run under pdaXrom.

Anyone able to help? Although I'm not rich, I'm willing to donate what little I can afford to help "promote" more SDIO development for the Cxx0's.

Hi all, this is just a simple one. Support for Sharp Cellphones is few and far between (I know this because I work for Vodafone UK, Sharp refer customers to us for support for these Cellphones!) and I believe it would be nice to have a Sharp Cellphone Support Forum right here on the OE Forums.

The benefits for this would be:

* Increased traffic to the site (and as such more people finding out what a Zaurus is)
* Support for devices that run Symbian (and may also be converted to Linux)
* An influx of developers and smart people to help with both Zaurus and non-Zaurus topics

The cons would be:

* Another possible forum reshuffle to move all non-Zaurus products into their own "Group"
* An influx of twinks / n00bs who just won't use the goddam search button

Just telling it like it is...

If you know what a Nokia 6310i is then you know they're good. I'm selling mine on eBay for £99.99 at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=6356773437

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Rc8, Bluetooth And Nokia 6310i
« on: January 01, 2005, 08:34:48 am »
Well I'll be honest, bluetooth support has always been flaky in pdaXrom, I've always had to edit hcid.conf and change the bluetooth pin helper to a shell script which echo's PIN:0000 to get it to pair with a phone.

Now since RC8 and possibly since the update IPKG's I am unable to pair a Nokia 6310i that I have paired multiple times in the past with other ROMs, so I know it's not a fault with the phone or the bluetooth card.

I have a BlueMonkey BlueCF card and all the bluetooth ipk's installed from the feed, still can't get it to work though.

The current setup I have right now is a shell script in /etc/bluetooth/ called givepin, in that shell script is only the line "echo PIN:0000" and hcid.conf points to that script file to provide the pairing pin, in the past this has worked fine up until RC8 (and yes the permissions are all set up correctly).

Anyone able to assist? I've exhausted everything I can think of.

Ps. I absolutely hate the pppconfig applet as it overwrites rfcomm.conf with whatever it feels like, please can we get that applet to prompt before overwrite? Not only that but the damn thing locks up whenever I try to add a bluetooth profile.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Quake segfault fix
« on: October 28, 2004, 02:54:59 pm »
Managed to figure out what was making Quake segfault after installing the btscanner ipk.. unfortunately I could resolve it. I did however find a workaround..

Open /usr/bin/runquake.sh in a text editor, and append " -nomouse -nolan" to the end of the line with /usr/share/quake/quake in it.

HTH

PS. gunzipping the pak0.pak.gz file in /usr/share/quake/id1/ quickens loading times tenfold at the expense of only using 10 more MB of flash.

Site Suggestions, Requests, and Updates / My Retirement...
« on: September 20, 2004, 03:59:07 am »
Well "it" has happened to me too. I have had to sell my C760 so that I can pay my bills. It hurts a lot because I've really bonded with it, whenever I leave my house I take my Z with me like I would my wallet and my house keys.

I went to the bank to see if they would give me a temporary loan so I didn't have to sell my C760 but they refused. Life's a bitch huh?

I don't see much point in being as active in the Zaurus community when I don't have one. I will stick around and visit from time to time though.

What can I say? It has been nice working with Michael (Offroadgeek) and the rest of the ZUG team, as well as all the friends I made within the Zaurus community. I wish you all the best in life because you're all top people.

I will return if one day I get lucky and can afford to buy another Zaurus. Take care all.

For Sale / Wanted / C860 Sale in the UK
« on: July 31, 2004, 03:27:17 pm »
My friend is selling his Zaurus C860 on eBay as he needs the cash. He's taken very good care of it and it's near-new. I think he's had it less than 2 months.

He's located in Leeds in the UK, the starting bid for the auction is £100 but you can buy it outright for £500, you can find the auction here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=5712824417

I don't think he'll ship to the USA, he MAY ship to the EU though (I could be wrong, please contact him via the eBay auction to check before bidding).

It has various accessories such as BlueMonkey CF bluetooth card, battery extender, leather case, various memory cards (SD & CF) etc.

Okay, unless people are already aware, there's a problem with the ZUG HowTo's section. When you click on it your browser shows random characters.

We are aware of this and offroadgeek has already been informed, hopefully he'll fix it soon.

For Sale / Wanted / Wanted: 5600 or C700...
« on: June 14, 2004, 05:20:17 pm »
Okay I\'m trying to find a cheap second hand 5600 or C700 for my friend. He\'s relatively new to Zaurii and Linux but he took one look at my C760 and was smitten, so if anyone out there has one of the models listed above going cheap please tell me. Preference goes to those in Europe, and a sale can not be guaranteed (the price has to be right I guess).

Thanks.

General Discussion / Zaurus as a... watch??
« on: June 07, 2004, 02:07:50 am »
Well this is probably going to attract the trolls, but I have an idea I want to try, I\'m going to turn my Z into a wrist-top computer.

At the weekend I invested in 2 velcro watch straps and I plan to glue them to the large battery cover of my 760, as well as take pictures. IF things go wrong or I\'m not satisfied I\'ll just buy myself a new battery cover from shirtpocket.

Hmm I wonder if this\'ll be the start of a new trend?
