Software / BlueZ/zaurus.com contents needed!
« on: December 08, 2003, 07:36:34 pm »
Heya all, as Zaurus.com is down (I\'ve noticed it in a post about spencer) I can\'t get the following file which I need..

I need the file bluez-zaurus_2.3-2.4.18b_arm.ipk from http://community.zaurus.com/projects/bluez so I can install my Bluetooth card drivers again after I flashed to Cacko\'s X11 ROM.

The original download link was http://community.zaurus.com/download.php/4...2.4.18b_arm.ipk

If someone has it stored on their HD they can email it to me and I\'ll host it on my site if more than one person needs it, and upload it to the ZUG files area.

Cxx0 Hardware / bluetooth adapter for C760
« on: December 08, 2003, 03:48:45 pm »
Well I certainly know it\'s possible to access a mobile\'s sms database & phone book via bluetooth, I guess if you can find the application for it then yeah it should be more than possible.

This is what the ZSI (Zaurus Software Index) has to say on the matter: http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/search.php?q=sms

Cxx0 Hardware / bluetooth adapter for C760

My recommendation would be what I use, an Armadillo Bluetooth CompactFlash card (model name BLUeCF, model number LSE039, website http://www.armadillo-accessories.com )

I picked one up on ebay for just under £20 / $32 US on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...egory=3730&rd=1

The drivers can be found easily for it (It uses the BlueZ series of drivers which can be found at http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=198 and they are installed pretty easily. A FAQ on bluetooth with the Zaurus\'s can be found at http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php...ename=Bluetooth

Hope this helps

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Sash I have a suggestion..
« on: December 08, 2003, 03:17:38 pm »
I hope Sash is a regular to this forum now, it\'s great to see a ROM developer visit a forum for his ROM..

Here is my idea:

At the moment we have to press CTRL+3 to switch to right mouse button, CTRL+2 for middle and CTRL+1 for left. This was a good idea but is too difficult to do with any speed.

My suggestion is this:

[img]http://foxdie.timduru.org/zaurus/x11_keys.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /]

As an alternative to the current way, I suggest there should be a second way too:

Touching the screen should only set the cursor position, not simulate a mouse click, that would be done by pressing key 3 for a left click, key 4 for a right click and both 3+4 for middle click. I have seen an option when installing linux distro\'s like mandrake for a 2 button mouse to be able to simulate the middle button by pressing both left and right together. It should be easy to do this.

Any suggestions / comments?

Software / OpenGL for Z - need developerz
« on: December 08, 2003, 06:52:20 am »
OpenGL on a zaurus? Damn I need a kleenex!

I think this is a good project, it\'s secretly been my desire to port Half-Life (YES) to the Zaurus C7x0 series (I don\'t think the CPU on the 5x00 is powerful enough, is that snobby enough for you zenyatta?). I know it\'ll be slow but so long as it\'s fast enough to display the game at about 10 FPS and capable of multiplay I\'m happy  (and of course it\'ll need a huge SD card, load times are going to be a right bitch)

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Installing ipks
« on: December 07, 2003, 07:02:41 pm »
Save the ipk into the home folder of the main user (I\'m not sure if OZ uses the \"zaurus\" or \"root\" username.

Then type in   ipkg install filename.ipk

Is this just one ipk problem or for all ipk installs you\'re trying to do?

I think the best way to install ipk\'s is to do it via the terminal as you can see any errors that occur.

Ah, hence the reason why my Account got zapped as well...rember to always have backups, and preferably one more.

I think he realises that better than ever, mistakes are made and learnt from. I say we just forget it happened and rebuild what we lost

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OZ 3.3.5 on 860 - problem - shuts itself off
« on: December 07, 2003, 06:14:02 pm »
Nope, sounds like you\'re doing it right. Must be the fact it\'s the C860 although technically the C860 is the same as the C760 (the machines are identical bar a different chassis colour and the dictionary set that comes with the C860).

Sorry I can\'t shed any more light on it, I\'m not an OZ user anyway. Hopefully there\'ll be someone else come along to help you

Are you shutting it down fully instead of just putting it into standby? With the Sash ROM I\'ve tried \"shutdown\"\'ing my C760 and the only way to get it to turn back on again is to take the battery out, replace it and press the power on button.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / REC - MPLAYER
« on: December 07, 2003, 05:42:35 pm »
As far as I can remember, someone was saying how when he tried to start MPLAYER in the Sash X11 ROM it would give the error that libvorbisidec.so was missing and either segfault or just close itself.

He further went on to reply that he fixed this by removing that version of MPLAYER and installing an older version for the 5x00 series OZ rom from the OZ feed.

However, in light of this I went to fix it myself and found the missing files and am now hosting them on my website, you should be able to just extract them into the /home/root/usr/lib/ folder and it\'ll work from there on. The file is here: http://foxdie.timduru.org/zaurus/libvorbisidec.tar.gz

Please bear in mind that this is my FIRST time making a tarball / gzipped file so if there\'s problems please tell me.

Site Suggestions, Requests, and Updates / Data recovery suggestion.
« on: December 07, 2003, 05:34:20 pm »
As offroadgeek has pointed out, the database is lost and is irrecoverable. I say lets not dwindle on this and try to put back the data that was there as best we can from memory.

I suggest that for all posts made in the past 4 days that people can remember they put back into the original post and put in the letters \"REC\" in the subject line to indicate it\'s a recall of the post that was once there.

For example in the X11 ROM forum there was a post about MPLAYER. I will recreate this post with the subject: REC - MPLAYER and try to fill in as much as I can remember from the posts in that thread.

Are you with me?

I think the current board software is the best around, you can do a lot more with it than most of the others. As for the downloads section I\'d say YES because it draws more people here. I think if you\'re looking to make this one fo the most successful Z sites than we need a comprehensive database of what we can do and what we can download for our Zaurii.

My suggestion would be to contact killefiz and integrate his website directly into the ZUG site, not just a small link of the most recent software on the main page.

I wouldn\'t worry about the DB loss, I think it\'s murphy\'s law that puts it as \"anything that can go wrong WILL go wrong at the WORST possible moment\". All I can suggest is keep making daily backups and fix the login problem

Oh dear, it appears to me that there\'s been more posts in the last 4 days than there has been in the last fortnight on the ZUG. Easy come easy go I suppose.
