CoreDump, any chance of having lirc, lirc-modules and irk ipkgs installed by default for next release of Hentges rom?

Whilst we're at it, I'm trying to debug why a PCMCIA card won't be recognised by my collie (CF->PCMCIA adapter).
Can you point me to/include some utilities to help debugging in the next release.  I think there should be a tool called "dump_cis" and "pack_cis" as well as others, but I'm a linux newbie so would appreciate some help.

Thanks.

I'll see what I can do. Note that I do not own one of these fance IR keyboards, so there's no way to test.

Code: [Select]
+mhentges@oe-akita-head:..mbedded/packages/hentges >grep -Hirn lirc .
+mhentges@oe-akita-head:..mbedded/packages/hentges >

Or in other words: no lirc package is installed in the default ROM.

Hi CoreDump, thanks for considering it.  Appreciate your help with it.

On the brightside, at least now I know it was not just me or my Z that is confused about lirc packages being installed.

hmmm ... wonder how those guys got their irk to work without lirc being installed!

Is it practical to move home onto the SD ext image?
I see what you want... and I believe it's possible. You will have to take a look at the script and try to modify it accordingly.

Let us know how it works out.

BTW, this worked fine. Just had to alter a few scripts. I haven't published a "cookbook" yet because I am back to just testing Hentges on the internal FLASH (no SD involved) because I am trying to get my Socket WLAN to work (with something besides Wellenreiter).  And also trying to just test stability before I commit to it.

MSCDEX in a separate thread said he fixed the problem I was having with the Socket  wireless card by re-installing the orinoco and orinoco_cs modules from the feed. I tried that and it went downhill. I get an exception dump on adding the card. (Machine doesn't crash - but the card is not "recognized"). I think that is because Hentges image already has a "newer" version. I don't believe MSCDEX was running Hentges.

I believe the Hentges image would have had the latest version available at the build date.

Sorry, but I can't help with this because I don't have a Socket wireless card.

nice new hentges rom at all. but there are some problemes on my Z 5500(hetges 3.5.3 T3):

- z hangs at opie startup if asus-wlan-device is plugged in, perhaps i messed the system 0:)

- opie-today doesn't show the todolist or the plugin... i have reinstalled it, linked with ipkg-link... but the problem still exists... is this a hentges-rom-related problem??

thx for some infos

greets tobi

tobi,

I was having the same issue with the opie-today-todolist plugin. I used ipkg-link to link it and it started working. Maybe the same will help you out.

Code: [Select]
ipkg-link add opie-today-todolistplugin
Good luck,

Jeremy

I'm missing some kernel modules like pegasus.o
Is it possible for me to get all kernel modules with running kernel 2.4.20 (hentges rom) for akita , latest T3 ..
I tried using the "big" kernel "with all modules" from someone in this forum, but having some problem updating the kernel because it was for C3000.
I can't even update it... unsupported device error..
My Current Z...

Sorry if this is a silly question, but:  I take it there's no such thing as a 64-0 arrangement for a poodle, since the poodle doesn't have 64MB of RAM.

I'm having some issues with Pocketworkstation (Vncserver/Fbvnc, not X/Qt) that suggest a free RAM issue (all calls to dpkg fail) and I want to clear as much as possible.

Will the Hentges ROM help me start with more free RAM than, say, the stock 5600 ROM?

I recently decided to come back to OZ after a long period of not using my SL-5500 (previously using a modified TKr because OZ was too annoying with the suspend issues) and to try Hentges again...

I downloaded the latest version from hentges.net:
I can install it fine... (well no error messages on install anyway) but when I come to boot Opie, just before Opie starts I get the error:

Code: [Select]
31: Cannot create /home/root/systeminfo/
linkver: Input/Output Error
You seem to already have a /home/root/Applications directory assuming it is the Opie applications directory

Then Opie loads and some applications don't work.   (if run from terminal, some say libraries could not be found..e.g GAIM, MPlayer)

If you try and load TinyKATE, it says "Could not locate application Tinykate".  Other apps such as VNC Viewer and Wellenteiter load fine..

I have tried reflashing a few times, and also downloading the files again, but I keep getting this same problem, so I figure I'm going wrong somewhere?

Any suggestions?

Grimmy,

While I have not directly encountered this error message on the Zaurus, I have been knocking around Linux for several years. Generally, in my experience, an Input/Output error is usually indicative of some sort of drive/media error. On a desktop/laptop machine, I have usually seen it in conjunction with the OS trying to read bad sectors on the hard drive.

Is it possible that your media (I'm assuming here that /home/root is on removable media, SD or CF card) could have problems? Do you have another card that you can try?

Regards,

I forgot to mention i'd tried 2 different SD Cards.  (The root is indeed on SD)

I'll try installing to a CF and not moving root to SD.
