what do you mean learn?  you want to launch the games off the terminal huh..okay!  Then you do this in Terminal-khctl disable. Then launch game.  after you are done playing, open terminal and khctl enable.

if you type khctl in terminal, it give you options.  this is the same for all softwares.  If you type snes9x, you get options.  Now what you do with your options is up to you so don't ask for advice

I will guarantee your controls will not work.  now that is another issue.

Well, maybe I didnt phrase my question correctly...  I am almost certain that I followed your instructions.  Upon running roms, it does run in full screen but I guess I was wondering if there was a way to strech the screen to fit without black areas at the borders.  Chrono trigger runs great as is so I am not sure if it would still run as smooth if it was stretched to fit the screen.  The only other issue I have is once in a while the emulator will crash on loading a rom and go to the "cacko loading please wait" startup screen and hang there untill I reset.  Thanks in advance for any info and for putting togeather this package...

I dont think so.  I installed the Default Cacko 1.23 rom from the homepage.  Tried pdaxrom and got scared and ran away.  I am learning but its a slow process for me...

expect an update.  It is related to khctl and some commands i added to the zemu zports ex i slaped together.

I been irritated by this myself.  I hate rebooting the thing just to play a game or two.

I figured it out.  It is root privilege.  hold the icon down and then click on run with root.   Please let me know if it gives you any problems.

For anybody else who is expiriencing the zemu ex crashing, it is because it has some commands within the sh files which disable the khctl and the only way is to run as root.  so hold the zemu icon down, it opens up an extra window and  tick "run with root privlege"

I also did an update on the zip file which includes an updated icon (forgot to add a Z to emu and now says Zemu) and added the instruction on the zip file about the crash problem.

the other problems are joystick support but I hope someone has it figured out.  I just have not had time to do this but this thread has some links reffering to a few sites.

I thought maybe this might help my dgen crashes but no.  It's OK I can live without dgen.

In terms of joystick  the  Neo Geo one works straight away without any changes.

To make SNES with joystick I installed snes9x-sdljoy.SDL-3 from one of the websites linked to in the list (sorry can't remember which one)

Then I edited your SNES script (/opt/QtPalmtop/bin/zemfeex_smc.sh) to run snes9x-sdljoy instead of snes9x
I used the following paramters -j -xs 320 -ys 240 "$2"

It runs OK but not quite as well as with your parameters cresho.

I found these paramters elsewhere on oesf - sorry whoever came up with them I can't remember your name  but thanks anyway!

I also have zpce-sdljoy which I can run from the command line but I can't seem to find your script for this one?  Maybe I'm stupid but I looked everywhere I could think and I can't find it - if you tell me where it is I will try editing it to see if I can get ZPCE going with a stick as well.

For everyones info once you install meanies IPK joyenabler-1.3 (thanks meanie you're a champ) all USB sticks I have been able to find work first time just fine.

Including PS2 joysticks through a USB converter - just amazing considering I needed to install a special driver to get them to work on XP!!

I also have a logitech precision gamepad - simple but it works well (quite a bit smaller than the PS2 one especially without the bulky PS2 cable and USB converter)  size is important to me as I travel a lot for work - I am a big guy and I can still easily use this setup on a plane, get's some funny looks from a lot of people (seeing as I'm 36 and wearing a suit) but hey!

Aaaaanyway - if you can tell me how I can get a script going for running PCE roms I'll give that a shot - haven't tried gameboy or NES yet, probably won't bother for a while but I'd like to get PCE going.

Thanks!

Stephen

It doesn't seem to be picking up my .sh file.

I named it exactly like the one you sent me zemufeex_pce.sh

I tried it and it just seemed to run the old one and ignore the .sh file.

how can I be sure?  Well I edited the file so instead of zpce "$2" it said "Bollocks" and the roms still ran!!

do I have to do anything to make zemu frontend ex pick up the .sh file?

I am running version 0.2ex - is this the latest?

the version i made does the same thing, it will not pick up the zpce.sh and that is why i left it out of the bunch.  you must likely need to run it off the command line to use the joystick.  I'll look further into this at a later time since i have a few projects needing to be released.

http://www.piro.hopto.org/~piro/pukiwiki/p...%DF%A5%E5%5D%5D

just a link to where sometimes i do a little reading or gather some updated files or anything related in improving the emulators.
one question though, do you get better performance off the keyboard than the joystick or vice versa or none?

With SNES the version with joystick support is a little slower but it's a marginal difference (so far anyway).  But that may be because it's a different version of the SNES emulator rather than the joystick or not...

With Neo Geo it does seem a little quicker when you do a lot of rapid movements (moving left and right when playing magic drop for example)

thanks for your help and good luck with your other projects!

OK now I run from the command line but without your help it was running rotated to the left 90 degrees.

After using your .sh file it runs rotated to the right 90 degrees!!!!

Can you help me understand what values determine the rotation of both the screen and controls please?

OK small update - I created a version of QKonsole that runs in magnified mode - this fixes the screen issues.

however my controls are still wrong - left is right and right is left.
down is up and up is down.

Really weird as the joystick works fine in all the games being launched by zemu front end.

The SDL_QT_INVERT_ROTATION thing doesn't seem to make any difference!

Thanks for any help.

libsdl_1.2.5-slzaurus20050731_arm.ipk
libSDL_1.2.6-zports-5_arm.ipk
libSDL-image_1.2.5cvs-1_arm.ipk
libSDL-mixer_1.2.6-zports-0_arm.ipk
libSDL-net_1.2.5cvs-1_arm.ipk

What is strange is that if I run any of the emus from the zemu front end they work fine and the controls are fine.

When I run from a terminal (in magnified mode) using a script the screen comes up OK but both the joystick and the keyboard are reversed!

I really want to get ZPCE running with the joystick because everybody I know recons it had the best shooters - and I LOVE shooters.

Can you recommend the best PCE ones?
