I have to extend my thanks to Cresho for all of the help that he provided on this forum (and subsequently all of the files on the cacko feed). I got all three (snes9x, znester and zgnuboy) working with his instructions and files. Zgnuboy was having the same diresctional problem as znester, but copying Cresho's znester.rc file into the zgnuboy folder as zgnuboy.rc made it work like a charm. It's  awesome to be reminiscing with classic games.

Thanks Cresho!

I realize this post has been out there a while, but Great work on this Cresho! I do have a question though...

I installed all the ipks, did the changes in the zamufeex_smc.sh file and downloaded and copied the znester.rc file. All the direction keys work perfectly however, the question I have is how do you disable the OK button for NES in the znester.rc file? Did I miss something in this thread?

Again, great work on this!

Hi. I found this site from a google search. It is great to see stuff is still being actively developed for the Z ... it seems most development stopped in 2003.

My issue is I have an SL-5500 with the stock Sharp ROM 2.38.

The only ingredient of PDA bliss that I am missing is a working SNES emulator. It is okay if it's a little slow or lacks sound, so long as I can play Chrono Trigger in the doctor's office or while waiting at the bank drive thru.

All attempts I have made at installing and running an snes9x-SDL for Qtopia haven't worked. Sometimes I was able to see game graphics but not give any kind of input, sometimes I get an SDL parachute, sometimes I get an illegal instruction error. A handful of times I've had to hard-reset my Z. It all depends on which of the many versions I attempt to use.

What would be *really* good is if someone like Cresho, who seems to have an amazing ability to make sense out of the teeming masses of confusion, has put together a simple package that'd work on the SL-5500. Does anyone know if it's ever been done successfully before? If so ... links to the correct combination of libSDL and program that I can use to get it to work? (Preferably in English!)

I have google searched much but never found any victories.

This file seems to be the closest to working that I've found:
http://www.suhami.net/zaurus/snes/snes9x_SDL-1_arm.ipk
from http://www.suhami.net/zaurus/index.cgi?Emulator/snes9x

I checked into opie-sh ... which wasn't of much use since I'm not trying to get it working on my IPAQ. This page was somewhat useful, though:
http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/snes9x

For me personaly, I don't need a front-end. I'm very terminal-friendly. If there's the possibility of getting it oriented so that I can use the onboard keyboard and portrait mode (I know that's probably asking a lot ... I do have a targus universal IRDA keyboard, if that helps) ...

On a side note ... *glee* Mario on my Zaurus does work! I might have to rethink whether or not I'm interested in using a NES emulator.  Thanks for the link, Cresho.

I managed to get a few games running.  The problem is configuring the sh files to work properly for the sl5500 screen.  I have the stuff to get them going.  It's just a matter of time for me.  I have finals tomorrow and got curious about getting it going.

turbografx
snes
nes

they start up.  Just wont work unless i get the sh configured for proper screen rotation and also the keypad.

no.  They are specific to the sl5500.  I managed to get sound and all running.  the sh file will need to be configured to access the pad correctly.  for the moment, i force shutdown  the zaurus since the keyboard is not recognized.  the sound was not popping, was running around 60% of original speed since this is how it feels.  I know we can probably run full speed at 50% framedrop and lowering sound quality to 22khz.  Ill post something between friday and monday since im trying to get the mame working on the sl1000.
