Cacko Rom 1.23 Is Released
« Reply #105 on: December 13, 2005, 06:18:22 pm »
Anton,

I got the Socket rev. 2.5 CF card, and also I got a Siemens Speedstream Ethernet USB dongle. I have a couple of questions:

1.  How do I install the connection thru GPRS? The card is properly recognized, once I choose to add a BT PPP connection, I press search for the device, and an error message that can not find a DUN profile device or something like that appears. Could I get pointed to the detail instructions as to how to pair the card with my phone under Cacko 1.23 for the SLC3100 and how to configure and establish the connection?

2. Also, when I plug the USB ethernet dongle, it starts to blink (the dongle), but I dont know how to establish a connection. I tried the LAN connection, but it keeps asking for the device or the connection. I guess I am missing something. If possible, I would like also to be pointed to detailed (newbie) instructions as to how to set up the dongle Ehternet connection.

Thanks in advance for any help you may give me.

Regards from the Tropics,

Otto

Unfortunately, it is not. Apparently I have one of the "no compat" ones. Could you tell me if any of this cards is supported by 1.23 and if there are versioning issues (such as the Ambicom's BT2000-CF) that you are aware of?. I think the easiest fix is just to buy one that is already supported:

Belkin
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006HYL...ronics&v=glance

Billonton
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006JMMH...ronics&v=glance

Socket Communications
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000ANLCQ...ronics&v=glance

Are there any other issues, strenghts, need for tweaking to set up, etc?

Thank you in advance for your input.

All of these cards are supported OOTB by Cacko ROM. Socket doesn't stick out of CF slot. There are no other noticable differences between the cards. Most modern bluetooth cards are based on CSR chipset and are almost the same...

Soryr, I can't. Pairing with a phone requries enabling some settings specific to the particular phone. Search the forums, you may find something for your ohone.

Did you try USB LAN network settings?

Lets not hijack the thread but Thc is working on porting PdaXrom to the C3000. He is getting close. Check  here

I am not sure about cacko for the C3000. I have attempted to contact iamasmith to no avail. He does not respond. Topic about this subject seem to just get passed by as well. Hopefully soon we will see Cacko 1.23 for C3000. It is a very slick rom and Maslovsky has done a great job.
SL-5500 w/ TKC 2.0 beta 3 rom
SL-6000L + Sled w/ Guylhem or Sharp rom. Have not tried PdaXrom YET
SL-C3000 - w/ Cacko C3Kb1. Like it alot

Question: Does Cacks have the latest Tetsu V18b kernel in it?

Yes, and much more than that. A lot of drivers have been back ported from the latest 2.4.32 kernel.

Your work has made the 3100 and 1000 a very usable PDA/laptop for English speaking people. I hope your work will not be taken for granted.I respect your comitment to a job well done. I tip my hat. Thank you.

Hi -

Is Package Manager install working okay under 1.23?  I just upgraded to 1.23, and when I try to install from a feed all I get is "ipkg says something went wrong. sorry"

I tried from the default feed and also http://web.mol.ru/~zaurus/feed/

So i am downloading the ipkgs via netfront and installing manually (can get to the ipkg/feed fine via netfront), which also gives me the "ipkg says something went wrong. sorry" when i try and install.

Perhaps I am overlooking something obvious, or...?

TIA

Hi all,

I finally managed to get a Wifi card working with WPA. All I had to do the following:

1) configure the conf files according to FAQ
2) update the firmware of the card

The later was successful, although I do not really know what I actually did (.hex files and such things;-)...

My problem now is a pretty stupid one:

1) I click onto the connect symbol.
2) The connect symbol becomes red and says that it is connected.
3) Some seconds later a window pops up to tell me, that "No connection detected," and that I should "Check your TCP/IP settings."

The funny thing is, that between 2) and 3) the network is up and running. You can ping hosts in the Intra- and Internet (be it by IP or hostname), you can even browse the web. So apparently everything is running. But then the Zaurus doesn't know it?!

Pleeeeeeease help! I am to stupid to solve this last piece...

Btw.:
I have the same problem, when I am using a CF Fast Ethernet card. The TCP/IP settings are manual, with gateway and DNS pointing to my router 192.168.1.1

DRDR.

it sounds as if dhcpcd is failing. this should really be in the security and networking part of the forum
