that's foreign to me ??

---

What is a good english photo software?  I see the included one has no english menus.

I found a download link for TxImage, and put file in "install files" folder.  But, when I access the Add/Remove software on Zaurus.  It doesn't show this file.  It does show my other files that I have installed.

---

installed Portabase/zsolitaire etc, but they are not in landscape mode?  Is there a way to change it to landscape mode?

---

installed libptp2, but don't see it in the files or main application screen?

those are commandlines to show memory and disk space.  You could always just look at the system info program for a gui view.

tap and hold the portabase icon to uncheck zoom mode.   This will allow you to see portabase in all its glory
I'm now an iphone user and use my zaurii as serial terminals, perl and shell scripting and when I need 640x480 screens

You can try Sharp's own software "Photo Storage"
It has been converted to English, so it should be good to go.
Check the Cacko ROM archives and the hav the English IPK.  Should work fine for Sharp ROM as well.

Thanks.

I just got SD card, and placed in Zaurus.  It seems to read it fine.  Why do I need to format to FAT?

Most SD cards and CF cards are formatted as FAT from the factory.
On your Zaurus, look in system info and click the "Mount" tab.
This will show you what format the SD card is.
Mine shows this for my SD card.

/mnt/card /dev/mmcda1  vfat  rw,noatime

The part your'e interested in is the "vfat" under the "Type" column.

Also, how do I get the Zaurus to recognize my camera.  I'm using a camera usb cord with host cable to Zaurus.  It doesn't do anything.

I've downloaded libptp_1, but don't have any icon for it.

I'm trying to get this working before this weekend.

What camera do you have ?

After you plug in the camera,
do a "dmesg" on it.
(doing a dmesg isrunning the command in the command prompt on the Zaurus).

See if the camera is recognised as a device when connected.
Also did you do the mount on the camera device  to mount it as a storage space on your Zaurus ?

lookup the program qconsole and install it for commandline.

dmesg will tell you what is going on with the system, so it should tell you if it recognizes your camera or not.

A Search is the best tool to find answers to questions already asked.
Of course being a newbie, you dont often knwo what excatly to search for, so here it is...

GPhoto2 - great application to make your camera work on the Zaurus

Heres a thread with questions like how to mount manually ...
[a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=16048&hl=]https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=16048&hl=[/url]

And here is Gphoto2 and associated files
https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=14559&hl=

One thing though, you might want to switch over to Cacko ROM, since that is the most supported ROM which is similar (compatible) to the Sharp ROM, but also better with added functionalities built-in (like USB support etc).

But again, dont rush yourself - take it all one-step at a time.
