Want Compiled Thread?
« Reply #105 on: January 22, 2007, 09:48:52 pm »
Trying to compile something for the first time with pdaXrom.  After reading a lot of different websites about compiling for pdaXrom I still could not get KHDrecord working for my C1k running pdaXii13.

I tried
make clean
make

I also tried
qmake -project
qmake
make

however no avail.  Keep in mind I'm a newb however having fun   .

Can someone try compiling it.  It seems like it would be a cool app for recording lectures.

I want to know if someone else has any luck....

you will need to fix the makefile manually since there is no configure or project file supplied with the package. you also need to compile the dependent library artsc before you can build it

5 things that need compiling

firefox 2

a new minimo

nvu (maybe it would work ok)

some kind of updated gplflashplayer (i think...the one I have now crashes a lot)

sun java 1.5 with plugin.

...of course firefox 1.5/ jre 1.4 work ok? and the gplflash thing must be fixable...Ive had it working before.  and nvu might be too heavy for a Z.

just thought I'd mention 'em

I've been trying to compile firefox, but it's not working. I'll see about the other ones, but my Z is out of order, and it may be a few days.

I tried firefox too.  no luck

I've been hoping for a minio that lives up to its concept. It may not be written yet.

Good luck when you get set up again

Maybe compiling firefox onboard instead of cross-compiling? I have to setup 1gb swapspace and leave it compiling few days ... might work  but XFCE first ...

I do all of my compiling onboard. If you want to build it, go ahead. It certainally would be nice to have it optimized, though. Same for XFCE. I can't wait to try the new version!

Keep compiling!

Here's the fixed up sources that actually compile and build...

I've already compiled and packaged it up (see the new packages anouncement thread), however, if you want to try compiling yourself, here is the gzipped tarball of the sources. Check the differences between the original makefile and my fixed version if you want to learn more of the insides of configuring and compiling. usually, as i mentioned before, the developers supply a .pro file or a configure script which will create the proper makefile for you....

It would be great if someone could compile GTK+ latest version.
This requires new glib, cairo, pango etc. so it is a major task.

Hello again,
is there any Chance that somebody could help me with the little javafiles from ewe software (ewesoft.com)
Original posting is here

A user named "ofels" write here that he uses the cachewolf program, based on ewe, with qt-libraries. I saw some of them in pdaxrom threads. Is there (over the qt-libraries) a chance to run cachewolf, or is it impossible?

Thanks for the very good pdaxrom OS and the great support in this forum

greets from germany
Andi

Once I can get the install files for pdaXrom (pdaxrom.org is down   ), I'll get it set up again and see what I can do (compiling Ewe/CacheWolf). I didn't look at hacking the makefile before, but I'll take a look. I'll need a makefile to compare to, though, so I guess I'll have to try configuring some other app first (latest Stratagus   ), and probably compile it (with optimization). That shouldn't take too long, but I'll probably fiddle with my setup for a while before getting to any compiling.

By the way, does anybody know if compiling Ewe requires Java? I know I saw a package of it (Java) somewhere, but I don't know where. If it is necessary, could somebody post a link?

Thanks!

you will need java to build the ewe.ewe file and also the ewe.jar file, however, for compiling the binaries for ewe itself, java is not required. only problem is that ewe uses such an obscure way to compile things.... and the documentation lies, it says build instructions are included but it is only try for the windows source file, but not the linux source files...

Thanks for getting this one compiled Meanie.  The interface isn't ideal, but the recording quality for .wav files is great.  Mp3 and Ogg don't seem to work as well, but with a 4GB card, that's still over 6 hours of recording time available.

Now I need to get a decent mini-mike!
Device: SL-C3200 running pdaXii13v2 build 5.5.0
Networking: Symbol Spectrum24 WLAN card; Kingston CIO10T CF NIC
Storage: 4GB Transcend 150x SD; 16GB Transcend 133x CF; 4GB Seagate CF HDD; 4GB Patriot SD
HID: Logitech V450 Laser Mouse; generic silicone USB keyboard; 2 generic optical mice; stock plastic stylus
GPS: generic "UT-41" USB GPS Receiver
Case: neoprene case from my old Palm foldable keyboard
