Meanie:

I presume you did receive my UK keymap? I have two problems with USB keyboard mapping right now except from the lack of euro sign (Alt-GR and 4) that I already mentioned-

The four keys , . / ' (not on the numpad, on the main keyboard) currently all start xmms when using my UK keymap under build 4, but they do work when holding down shift to produce < > ? @ respectively. What is causing this?

The other keymap problem is how do I change the key repeat setting? Holding down backspace on my USB keyboard currently just deletes one character per push.

Have you considered using either Thunar or pcmanfm instead of rox as the file/desktop manager? I quite like rox except from the fact that you can't copy files in the way you do on every other file manager and its insistance on making you open two windows and dragging to copy is a bit awkward on a Z when you don't have a mouse or rollerball plugged in.

I've still had no luck getting cheesetracker 0.5.5 to compile but I think that we should also check out cheesetracker 0.9.9 which uses QT. I try and avoid QT progs when I'm running a mainly GTK environment in a restrictive amount of memory like under pdaXii13 but it should offer more features and hopefully be more stable etc. than 0.5.5. Unfortunately 0.9.9 needs a build tool called SCons which looks quite tricky to set up and I haven't had time to wade through its install instructions yet but I'm determined to get a decent music making program running on pdaX!

Other programs I'm looking to get going are apcstudio (an FLTK based sound editor), zynaddsubfx (just trying this again right now- the best fltk or otherwise synth prog for Linux EDIT Can't compile it due to problem with zgccs fltk-config library settings including fltk-utf8 that isn't included) and Rezound, a FOX based sound recording and editing app.

My plea to Menaie:

I have just received great news! No only is today my 26th birthday (EDIT Weird how my birthday ties into this in that I get my Z and at around the time of the release of the finished pdaXii13 - Xii13=2x13=26) but last night I spotted a c3100 about to go on ebay so I decided it was to be a mine and so it was! My lovely new personal Z (I've been hogging my dads mucho with all this testing recently) has been posted to me today so I should have it by tomorrow. I think its currently got Cacko installed according to the seller but I would love to get straight down to re-partitioning and installing pdaXii13 build 5.2 - It would make my birthday present double good!

5.2 please Mr. Meanie - a release candidate would be fantastic!

<drumroll to the unveiling of the worlds greatest palmtop OS....>

Thanks Meanie!

[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Great....  , but I added the utf8 only... it can display the chinese charater correctly... I don't know if I add the codepage 950 , can it display the simp.chinese and trad.chinese both correctly?

oh yeah... 1 more think... the samba codepage problem..
At PC side can't see the chinese files name correctly, I need add client code page 950. but some codepage files needed and put in
\usr\share\samba\codepages

[a href=\"http://www.kole.com/de100c/extracted/fsImage/target.root/etc/codepages/]http://www.kole.com/de100c/extracted/fsIma.../etc/codepages/[/url]

would you mind to put all of them in your build 5.2 ?

anyway thanks a lot...

@Meanie:

You are doing a great job for all C3000 users, thank you!

I've been successfully using pdaXrom 1.1.0beta1 for quite some time; unfortunately, the filesystem recently got so badly corrupted that I decided to give pdaXii13 a trial. Not bad, it is really a step forward compared to 1.1.0beta1! I've encountered only one problem so far, and that is that keyboard and touch screen sometimes freeze after resuming the Z but it looks like this thread contains some hints how to solve this problem which I will try.

However, I'm not quite sure now about the latest version. You mentioned that Build 5.2 will be the last image-based one before updates are done via the feeds. On the page "http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/feed/pdaXii13/files/" I see already distro images labelled 'build5.2'. Does it mean that this is already the final build? Or are you going to make changes to them?

As I said before, thanks a lot for all your efforts and keep up your fantastic work!
Owner of a very happy Zaurus SL-C3000 since the day he was fed with pdaXrom 1.1.0beta1! Just made him even more happy by feeding him with pdaXii13 build 5.4.7.

mainly you should not set the time on first boot (just hit cancel), stop atd, then set the time and restart atd.

Unfortunately my c3100 didn't arrive today but I've just installed build 5.2 on the c3000 and its looking like we're onto a winner - good work Meanie!

The important thing for me was that we finally have a version of pdaXrom (for the c3000!) with a working calandar with alarm with no magickal rituals required to get it working. The alarm even works when you've closed gpe-calendar and suspended the Z. However, the alarm doesn't sound if you're running a program that is already using the sound output but the alarm will sound as soon as that program stops (i.e if you stop playing tracks under xmms, alarm will begin to sound if it was activated whilst you were using xmms) and you will also see the visual alarm notification so its no major flaw- I think this is a limitation of OSS rather than Meanie's fault.

Thanks for including the UK keymap but I think I'm going to have to look into it a bit as those 4 keys I mentioned before are still launching xmms for some reason.  This is the only bug I've encountered so far and its probably my fault

If you make any changes before 5.2 gets deemed stable then please add streamtuner and streamripper maybe as a replacement for vlc. Anybody want vlc? What for?

I tried installing gnomebaker but when I run it is just gets as far as saying 'loading gui' then nothing else happens. I haven't got a USB burner to plug in yet so maybe thats the reason

Is it possible to install pdaXii13 on a c3100 exactly as you would on a c3000 but replacing the kernel on the install card with the kernel from beta3 or must I install beta3 and then install pdaXii13 on top? Has anybody tried installing build 5.2 on a c3100 yet?

Hmmm, thinking of trying this as I have a lot of X stuff to play with. Would it be difficult to do a dual boot of this and the sharprom/cacko (translator/dictionary)?

Meanie:

Sorry to add to my already swelling list of questions and requests but I'm presuming that zgcc hasn't been updated in the last few days as it is still called build 5 which is the last version I tried and that is unable to compile FLTK apps (see my Zyn on Z thread in this forum or your zgcc blog on tyrannozaurus). I don't suppose this has been fixed without the version number being altered? If this is not the case then please upgrade it to FLTK 1.1.7, make sure it can compile FLTK apps (i.e it doesn't start asking for fltk-utf8 libs that don't exist) and adding gtkmm would top it off for me and warrant the holy zgcc build 5.2 moniker

Time to show off those c3x00 machines - thanks to Meanie and sash for revolutionising portable computing!
