Thanks Meanie, but please don't totally rule out the possibility of a 5.3, 5.5, v6 or whatever the next version is called that fixes most of the bugs we'll find in 5.2
You deserve a break but we may just find enough bugs that will annoy enough people to warrant another release I feel. I wouldn't call anything stable until 100's or 1000's of people have been using a given version for months or years without problem- especially when we're talking about something as vast and complex as a *nix OS!!! As it stands only a few people have given pdaXii13 anything resembling a good testing and its not for very long- even for yourself. I identified another couple of bugs in 5.2b today.
If anyone tries installing 5.2 before me (Meanie?) please check to see if these bugs from 5.2b been fixed-
* The Cancel key on the side of the Zaurus doesn't seem to do anything when running xmms - I'd like it to pause the track preferably
* If you slide the matchbox volume slider right to the bottom it stops working and matchbox volume applet requires you restart X (or maybe use a different mixer) to get it working again
* Does the USB keyboard work properly now? Unless somebody else fixed it then I can tell you that the UK USB keyboard map is missing a | key. I can get this to you in time for 5.3, I'm sure
* GUI MIME editor for adding new file associations to rox (if no better alternative- see below) like .flv, which mplayer can play fine, for example.
Also, if you haven't included it already Meanie streamtuner and streamripper really, REALLY should be a standard part of pdaXii13 full as I think most people want a good GUI to lots of streamed radio channels and vlc isn't up to it unfortunately.
Also, I believe rox should be replaced by Thunar or pcmanfm if possible as rox always ends up losing your desktop icons and wallpaper setting for some reason and offers
'I've just trashed your desktop settings, OK?' ( its something about 'updating your pinboard settings' actually but this is what it really means to say)
or something similar every so often as an excuse. I ran rox on my PC under Debian for a while and this happened there too so its not the fault of pdaXii13- its rox!
Also, I feel we need a better picture viewer than feh and gthumb- something that is as good as photostorage for cacko. There are 100's of linux/X image viewers, its just a case of finding the right one.

build 5.2 is a stable and usable build with most annoyances found in beta3 fixed. there is no need to constantly flash your Z and lose your existing setup. i don't know about others, but i for one hate it. once i get a reasonable setup, i tend to stick with it for a long time.
and also, don't forget that pdaXii13 was build for the specific needs of a single user which is of course me All the pre-installed applications are the ones I want. Every user has their own application requirements and they differ. If you remember my thread about useful applications, I was evaluating apps that were useful for my needs.
adding or removing applications is an easy task. just use the package manager which does not crash unlike the one in OZ, or use ipkg from the command line. gqview works fine for me. I got a 5 mega pixel camera made by samsung and gqview views all my images without problems. if you don't like it, install whichever image viewer works for you...
as for your uk keyboard map, it should really be an ipk that uk users can install since most people dont need it, i for one don't
the cancel button works in xmms unless the userdefined keyboard map has redefined its value.
volume mixer is just a typical example of a beta3 bug which does not annoy me since I never change volume to lowest. but again, once that applet has been fixed, then it can be repackaged and added to the feed for upgrading. most bugs fixed in pdaXii13 are really pdaXrom bugs and should ideally be added to pdaXrom repository.
now is probably a good time to start custom builds. maybe a pdaXii13 custom danboid build1 will do exactly what you need
pdaXii13 was build for customisation. you can add and remove stuff to your liking and backup your setup using zbackup. rename your backup file to hdimage-custom.tgz and you got your own custom build of pdaXii13 which you can use to re-install or upload to share with others...
