meanie has an upgrade path (go up to post #94)
https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showt...ndpost&p=156061
but I don't completely understand how to do it properly.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=156133\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Thanks, Jon_J, I saw that...but besides 'how to upgrade', what I'm also really trying to get at is whether or not I should stay on the 'Alice' path or are there some advantages to switching over to the 'Sally' path???

Thanks,

Mark
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=156135\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
I opted for the "Sally" path/version because I wanted everything basic to run from NAND.
I tried the "Alice" version first, back in January, and thought it was slow.
"Sally" on NAND seems a lot faster, much like Cacko, so I'm sticking with it.
I haven't installed any large apps yet, these will go on the microdrive.
Right now, I only have basic utilities installed.
I just reflashed last night to akita5.3.2 (Sally)
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=156138\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Thanks for that input, Jon_J!

Think I'll 'bite the big one' and flash over to 'Sally'.....

OK, just flashed pdaXii13 v.5.3.2 Sally on my 3200...

At first glance, it would seem like install was OK as it boots up to desktop and I can navigate around desktop, etc....

However, I did notice a few weird things....hopefully someone can advise.....

Code: [Select]
#df -h
Filesystem           Size       Used  Available  Use%   Mounted on
/dev/root         53.0M      53.0M          0    100%    /
none               12.0M           0      12.0M    0%       /dev
/dev/mtdblock3    68.0M       4.3M     63.7M   6%       /home
/dev/hda1          2.0G    259.6M      1.7G    2%       /mnt/ide
/dev/hda3          3.4G        4.0k      3.4G    0%       /data
/dev/mtdblock3    68.0M       4.3M     63.7M   6%       /mnt/user

1) Notice that it shows above that root is only 53MB even though I selected 128MB using the installer.

Although wondering if this has to do with after install, installer asked me if I wanted to do something with internal flash or something like that?? Maybe it resized it again??

2) I'm thinking that since root shows that it's 100% used and 0 available space that's why I'm getting a lot of messages during bootup regarding 'No such file or directory' and 'No space left on device' ???

Also, a few items show as [Failed] in red letters during bootup instead of [OK] in green letters like other items....

So, my SD card is not recognized nor is my ethernet CF card...got message during bootup 'sdmgr: No such file or directory'......

Given the above weirdness, what should I do, go through install process again and re-flash or ???

Thanks for any input!

Mark

Finally got pdaxii13 install on my C1000. Everything runs ok, and I can install ipks ok. Problem now is the Brightness and Zoom shortcut key don't work?

Anybody with C1000 having the same problem?

Archimark, have you installed pdaxrom beta3 first?
I flashed my C3200 to pdaxii13-akita5.3.2 last night with the 3 files.
initrd.bin
tools.tar
updater.sh
All I did was select flash or install new rom.
When it asked about partitioning my microdrive, I said NO to these because I already had done this previously in an earlier install of pdaxii13-akita5.3
I had no errors, all boot processes were in green [OK]

Thanks for your help, Jon_J....

Umm, not exactly...

I did install pdaxrom beta3 before I installed pdaxii13 Alice awhile back....but not now...

So, was I suppose to pdaxrom beta3 again now before flashing pdaxii13 Sally???

Also, I put the 2 other files on my CF card besides the 3 that you mention:

- zimage-2.4.20.bin
- hdimage-full.tgz

Is that OK??

UPDATE

Re-flashed again and this time did 'patch loader limit' (or something like that) under 'NAND Utils' in installer then did 'Resize Root Partition' and this time used 121MB instead of 128MB (as was noted on Meanie's pdaXii13 page...). Then did Flash ROM....

This time booted up OK - No error messages! All green 'OK'....

So far, everything now works good, connected to internet using my ethernet card!

Yeah!....

Thanks,

Mark

no, if you installed pdaxrom beta3 some time ago, you should be OK
I don't think you need those other files, I have always flashed and re-flashed akita (Sally) with just the 3 files I listed above

Oh, I forgot.
After using pdaxii13-spitz (Alice) I'm pretty certain I re-partitioned and formatted, or just re-formatted my hard drive during my first install of akita (Sally)
This removed all traces of spitz (Alice)

Another thing I just thought of.
Since pdaxii13-spitz (Alice) installs and runs from the microdrive, I'm thinking that you would need to reinstall pdaxrom beta3 to get the operating stuff back onto NAND, before you wipe your microdrive of the spitz installation.

I believe Meanie remapped some keys in pdaxii13.  I believe the function key is now mapped for generating F1 - F10 (function keys, kinda makes sense) using 1-0.  Try the kanji key next to the dash to activate zoom and brightness.
Device: SL-C3200 running pdaXii13v2 build 5.5.0

on a fresh install of akita, there is no Rox or Firefox. I installed mine with the pkg app.
The akita install is supposed to be a minimal install, and there are a lot of things missing that are in the full spitz version.
Just like the difference between Cacko full and Lite
you'll notice, no splash screen and no startup sound, no mplayer, etc, etc...

This is what is installed on my fresh akita5.3.2 install
Office: leafpad, abiword, X pdf
Internet: licq, ppp dialer, slypheed, xchat irc, dillo
Sound & video: oss mixer, xmms
Graphics: gqview
Games: (There was a small game in here, and I forgot what it was called, because I removed it)
Other: galculator, screencap (screencap is missing the stuff needed to cap *.png files and it's icon), X virtual keyboard, xclock, xterm, rxvt, xircp
System tools: cpu config, date & time, input setup, lan & wifi, light & power, ppp modem, package manager, look & feel, usb, usb keyboard selector, qtconfig, pdaxii config
Utilities: > Panel: app launcher, aterm launcher, battery monitor, cf/sd monitor, clock, screen blanker, volume control, wireless monitor, x virtual keyboard, cpu/mem monitor

Also, there is no "Reboot" on the menu, you have to install the reboot ipk seperately
