Can anyone recommend an inexpensive USB LAN adapter that will work with pdaXrom/ii13? I want one that is supported in both the 2.4 and 2.6 versions. Smarter folks that I have tried to get the driver for my DM9601-based adapter working with no luck. I thought with the manufacturer providing linux drivers it would be easier, but obviously not. I would like to get a working USB LAN adapter before my next trip. Thanks.

USB dongles with pegasus and rtl8150 based chipsets will generally work since those two drivers are included out of the box...
This means, most cheap USB dongles made in Taiwan will work, but the more expensive ones won't...

Thanks. Most of the listings don't specify the chipset. I will look though. If anyone has a link to an eBay or other listing for a known good one, please share.

I got mine (see my sig) from geeks: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=HE-130R&cat=NET
geeks often has grey market products from Taiwan and usually use generic chipset, which make them Linux friendly.

Edit: btw, I got mine for $8 + S/H (but i placed a tall order with a total about $150 to offset the shipping charge).

It costs me only 20 RMB (about 2.6 USD)...

I would not stop trying to build driver for it ...

now that is cheap, but it is not available here... cheapest one I can buy cost me $AUD 24

Yes, all the cheap ones I am finding have that chipset which is what I already have. I appreciate Meanies compiling and wellswangs continuing to work on the driver, but for a $10 (1.99 +delivery) I can't wait forever to get a working NIC.

but my rtl8150.o USB LAN can not work in the pdaxrom Beta1 in Tosa,the kernel is 2.4.18.

but i don't know how to compile the driver of it.

wellswang help me a lot .anyway,i won't  give up to make it work in my Tosa.

Rtl8150 is so easy to use in my sl-c3100. in the original rom and the pdaxrom any version

steps:
copy driver to usb folder in depmod
run depmod -a
put usb lan in
set ip address through ifconfig

Thanks. From the picture it's the same one as Geeks.com -  a bit closer to me.

Is the driver you're using the Davicom 9601 one discussed above?
