Sooo... I lost my CF slot protector...
« on: April 10, 2004, 01:06:35 pm »
Actually, I\'m more than a little shocked that it\'s taken me this long.

Does anybody know where I might find some replacements?

I supposed I could just stick a CF card in there, but I\'m a little concerned that it might be a power drain.

A little help?

Thanks.

Man, I haven\'t used my CF protector ever I don\'t think!

I would think the power drain is quite minimal, as long as you\'re not reading/witing to the card, so my vote is to replace it with a CF memory card.

If you want to make sure that the card is not a memory drain, I would think that disabling the CF card (cardctl commands) or disabling PCMCIA (/etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia) would take care of it.

Or, just put a piece of duct tape over the slot :-)

I think there is a section in the ZUG faq that addresses power drain of various components, and it lists the drainage of an idle CF card.
