Zuber, use this one and follow the instructions for pdaxrom 1.0.0. I got this working with CackoQT "elena" 1.2.1b. I didn't have much joy with Stubear's pdaxrom 1.0.5 and I haven't had the time to create one from my own installation.

Hi all,
I have a little problem with KA/Pi 1.9.3 importing an all-in-one vCard from Apple's iCal. The file with all entries is correctly imported but German Umlauts and "ß" are not recognized (some chars are missing, others are a quadrat. I exported in vCard 2.1 format (cause 3.0 didn't work), and I tried the Windows Latin1, Mac OS Latin, Unicode and UTF-8 encodings but nothing does the Umlauts right.

Any idea, or is this a know limitation?

I think I have found another bug in KO/Pi 1.9.3a, could someone try this before I enter it into the bug tracker?

Starting on today's date (21 July 2004) use any method (date picker, calendar display, etc. to go to 1 Jan 2004.  I get a lockup, screen display is colors of events only with no text.  Zaurus will autosuspend and turn back on, but no button press will get me anywhere.  I have to do a hard reset.  KO/Pi does the same think with or without fastload active on my SL-5500 whether installed to Main Memory or SD card.

Thank you.

The encoding should be utf8.

Please report this in the bugtracker with all information you have.

I see, you did it already . Thx!

Hi slocaus,

that is strange!

Does it happen also with an empty calendar?
Maybe it depends on some special entries in your calendar.

Can you try to find out more?

I cannot get this behaviour.

Hi Zautrix,  no error with empty calendar.  Tried to move mycalendar.ics as copy to old data location, and got error on opening after the message about upgrade from 1.9.1 and importing old data.  Have narrowed it down that something is bad before 15 Jan 2004.  I cannot access any date prior to that without lockup!

I'll have to look at my KOrg on the desktop to see if a can identify the event(s) in question, delete them, synch, and see what I can do.

Thank you!

It is my data!
KOrg under KDE locks up going from 11 Jan to 10 Jan 2004.  Tried 15 Dec 2003 and get lockups as well.  <sigh>  I'll sort it out tonight after I get home from the second job (this is an hour break between),

So it is not a KO/Pi issue at least.

Just a quick update if it might help anyone else:
KOrg desktop choose Month mode, go to Dec 2003 showed dashed lines in many days, which I'm guessing was a corrupted repeating event.  Bu choosing Delete / All for that event, I was able to clear the errors.

Then I physically copied that KDE KOrg desktop file (calendar.ics) to my CF card as mycalendar.ics and opened it wiith KO/Pi.  After warnings about files changed, I choose the Synch+Save option.

Now my data is fine, and I can scroll or jump to any month on any date with no errors at all.

In Ka/Pi,
I can enter Chinese contact list by Ka/Pi itself,
but I can't import/export cvs file in Chinese,
Can anybody import/export cvs file in Chinese,
or other way to import/export  contact list with Chinese code?

In Ko/Pi,
I can import/export data by sync  option with Sharp datebook data,
but Ka/Pi has no this kind of function,
I think it's a good way to solve this problem.

Ka/pi is a good software,
I really want to replace Sharp addressbook by it.
I will appriciate for your help

Keep in mind that KO/Pi was developed first and has a Stable version 1.7.5 and a second stage beta 1.9.x version.

KA/Pi is still first stage Alpha and has much work to do, as in CSV import / export and synching.  I find it totally useable and have had no troubles (as an English native writer/user).

I do use Unison to copy my changed addresses from my Zaurus to my linux KAB.  I did a similar thing with KO/Pi when it was in Alpha before the sync functions were added.

Zautrix and Ulf got sidetracked with some licensing issues with KOpieMail, but I am certain that KA/P will have sync functions and many many features added soon.

The pace at which KO/Pi had bug fixes / updates/ improvements was amazing.  KA/Pi will be the same, and is probably being improved now, but just no recent releases.

Thanks for your help,
So I still can only key in the contact list one by one,
I will wait for the next update of KDE/Pi,

Or,if anybody can tell me what kind of code is the csv file,
"maybe" I can find some software to convert it by hand?
because I can "type", "save", and "read" Chinese in my Zaurus, just can't "import/export".....

Did you look at the CSV import templates on the project homepage?  (First post on this thread.)

CSV import does work.  I happened to use the addressbook from my old Palm, since it had all about about a dozen addresses, and just keyed in the rest.  Using the "export function of the Palm (really J-Pilot Linux desktop) and choose CSV format.  I then copied that file to a CF card and then did the import on my Zaurus using KA/Pi 1.9.0.

(Oh and just a clarification.. you might not have understood that the phrase "to get pissed" means "getting into a bad mood", so this refers to the one who speaks the phrase, not to the one he tells it to... clear? So, please read that again. No threat here, but a misunderstanding on your side)
Unfortunately, "to get pissed" only means that in American.  In English, it means to get drunk, which might explain the reaction you got!

Glad you settled your arguments, though.  I was looking at this thread to try to work out where the pdaXrom fits in, and it seems to be "not yet".  Fair enough.  So making a point about KO/Pi that I'm using on the Xrom is probably irrelevant, but I'll do it anyway

When in the journal, I'm not sure if you can use the keyboard to get in and out of edit mode - I tap on the edit window or another window.  If there aren't any keystrokes to do this (perhaps the OK button to toggle editing on and off?) it would be nice to do so.

Thanks.

Hello kkkkkk,

First off all, KA/Pi is based on KDE KAddressbook. That means in general anything that works with KAddressbook should also work with Ka/Pi.
If you are not sure what the behaviour of Ka/Pi in the context of languages should be, simply try it first with the original KAddressbook. Then you know if it is a Ka/Pi bug or not.
Now I for my part have never tried to export chinese characters into a csv file.

And yes, right now I am working on the Ka/Pi sync module. If everything goes well it will have the same sync functionality like Ko/Pi and it will support syncing between

- Ko/Pi and vCard addressbooks (=Ko/Pi, KAddressbook)
- Ko/Pi and opie addressbook
- Ko/Pi and qtopia addressbook
- Ko/Pi and sharp dtm addressbook

thanks,
Ulf
