Hi, sorry for not checking myself the battery, unfortunately I don't have much free time lately. Too bad its battery is a non-standard one... If you'd be interested in buying a new one, I have now written an inquiry to Cameron Sino asking them if they have it in stock. I have attached your photo to the email; if they don't have in stock batteries specifically for this model, we might be lucky and find out that it's the same battery for another device, which they manufacture.

Check also your PM.

Thanks for the heads up, I have updated the links in the post here and in the Gemini/Cosmo subforums with the links posted in the wiki. My only concern is that the links on the wiki might be now exposed to spambots harvesting for Telegram invite links. That's why I'm posting them in a spoiler tag, which is hidden to not registered users. I wonder if a similar links protection can be added on the wiki, too.

I can now open both tardis and yatli's mirror, maybe it was a temporary ISP problem? I'll now mirror tardis as well and host it here, just in case.

Zaurus - Other distros support / Re: Linux kernel version 6 support

Hi greguu,

thanks for the update. Please keep us updated about your work on 6.2, I hope not too much code has been left out which would prevent its use on our Z's. Sad to hear about the wireless drivers, though it was inevitable... I'm wondering is if it would be possible to use newer network cards on our Zauruses. An USB wifi dongle, connected via an USB type B-female A connector might be our best chance, though it won't look pretty. This way we wouldn't be limited to 802.11b connections, which might be already not supported anymore by some routers. In the past USB host adapter for the CF slot were available too, though I'm not sure if they are still available somewhere.

New products and alternatives / Re: MNT Pocket Reform
« on: March 24, 2023, 05:30:35 am »
I prefer devices with a more compact design, Planet's ones have IMHO the best balance between size and usability. I miss my Gemini, I still hope to be someday able to resurrect it, in alternative I might buy a secondhand Astro if I'll find one with an attractive price.

I remembered reading somewhere that the A300 has a replaceable EA-BL06 battery, though I might remember this wrong. I also have 2 A300's, I never had to check for the batteries since they both still work. I'll try to find some time to try to open one of them and check its battery. There's very little info about them in the forum, I believe they were not very popular since they lack a keyboard.

Hi maynard, great to hear that you're supporting other Zaurus models! You might want to order one or two new batteries from Cameron Sino, I have recently contacted them and they have told me that they still sell newly manufactured EA-BL06 (and EA-BL08 too for newer Zauruses) batteries. That will be easier than hunting for an A300, as they are quite rare even on Yahoo Auction.

Unfortunately I'm not aware of any other site with Zaurus ads than Auction, except for the few ones on Amazon/Ebay that are sold at premium prices...

Astro Slide - General Discussion / Re: Community issue tracker & wiki

@Varti Can this topic be pinned please? 🙂
Done, and thanks to shymega for his effort in setting this up. A public issue tracker was requested by many users back when the Gemini was released, and a wiki is a welcome addition too.

Hardware News / PlanetPC XR Mini Desktop - new Planet Indiegogo campaign
« on: February 27, 2023, 05:59:15 am »
"Planet Computers introduces the PlanetPC XR series of mini desktop computers. The XR series runs Ubuntu Linux and are based on ARM multicore processor technology.

The new-look XR features a unique integrated colour touchscreen, giving access to soft keys for frequent tasks, a system monitor and controls for WiFi, Bluetooth, VPN, Network disk, audio and other system functions.

The XR Series is truly zero configuration, allowing anyone to become a Linux user straight out of the box.The XR2 performance range features an 8-core superfast ARM processor coupled with a Mali-G610 GPU and a 6TOPS NPU to give extraordinary performance. The XR1 value range is based on a 4-core ARM processor."

I wonder if Planet has given up with the mobile devices market, or if they are simply trying to enter more than one market in order to diversify their products line.

Hi greguu, nice to hear you back, I hope you had a good holiday. Yes, the removal of Corgi/Tosa/Poodle support is heartbreaking, although as you said not unexpected. I still hope for someone to step in and do the necessary changes to devicetree for these devices. Nice to hear also that your Zaurus collection is being expanded.
This reminds me that I still need to do the testing you asked a while ago, ouch  :( I'll see if I can find some free time in the next days.

What APN are you using, and is the correct one? Also try to switch to IPV4 only, if you're using an IPv6 connection.

Astro Slide - Android / Re: Mobile connection flipping
« on: December 20, 2022, 03:55:46 am »
the mobile connection on my Astro is flipping. Sometime I have connection, sometime not. My german SIM card is from Telekom. I tried first and second SIM slot. First slot seems to work better. After restarting the device I have a connection for several hours. Then the connection ist lost ("No SIM Card"). Second slot ist flipping every few minutes from connected to not connected and reverse.
This seems to me like a bad SIM contact issue in the SIM holder, providing that the "No SIM Card" error is actually correct. Have you tried using another SIM card?
Though I see that all of you are having issues with the same mobile operator. It might be worth checking if the APN is correct. If the type of connection is set to IPv6, it might be worth to try to set it to IPv4 only too; where I live IPv6 support is still under testing or must be deployed, only one operator officially supports it.

Astro Slide - Android / Re: Astro won't boot -- userdata corrupt?
« on: December 12, 2022, 05:42:18 am »
Unfortunately the attachments' sizes limit is set (to 20MB if I remember well) by the database's settings, it cannot be overridden by the forum's software and it can be only changed by the host provider. I can however store the file on the forum's account and add a direct link to it, if you wish.

EDIT:
File mirrored here: https://www.oesf.org/repository/planet-devices/astro/boot_a.img
