Software / Kde-pim/pi 2.1.0 Available!
« on: August 09, 2005, 06:54:09 am »
I've just installed v2.19 and want to report not actually a bug.
Now there's a tiny inconvinience with Ko/Pi.
The focus, once set to an editable textfield, such as the new todo field in quick-todo, will not leave, unless you close the quick-todo. This misbehaviour prevents keyboard shortcuts from functioning. The same is true for the journal-view.
The main problem seems to be, that the focus is set to new todo during start up.
Since i prefer the keybd shortcuts over screen tapping, this is a bit of an annoyance.

Thanks for all the fish

Software / How To Install Software, In Sharprom?
« on: July 22, 2005, 03:23:18 am »
you can force ipkg to install to a specified destination by using the -d option.

I.e.

ipkg -d /mnt/card install somepackage.ipk

will install somepackage on sd.
So far, this method never failed for me. (admittedly, I nevr tried to install nethack)

hope this too might help.

edit: confirmed. workaround is to use the filter button instead of the menu. I'll put the bug in the DB.

workaround works fine for me. Thanks so far.

The "what's new" notes of v2.1.16 states that a problem with the menu bar in KO/PI and using the "Menu" hardware key have been fixed. Actually, pressing the menu-key calls the "Filter" drop down, instead of the menu.
As far as i got, this seems to be the only drawback in KO/PI whereas in PWM/PI the menu-key still does not work     . Well, i can live with that. (Until next version

Hi,
i'm allmost, but not quite, totally contented with the latest version.
I'll have to dig deeper to find anything left to complain about.
Great work!

The other worrying thing is that the CF cards don't even seem to be recognized in the SHARP ROM - as in they don't get mounted, and I can't see the files on them. If I reboot the machine with the card in the slot, I do get a small CF icon on the Qtopia taskbar with an 'Eject card' option, but that is it. I can't the CF card in the 'Files' tab, or using the file manager.

How did you get the files on the card?
If it was on a windoze system, might be, that the CF is raw formatted i.e. without any partition and thus preventing OZ from "seeing" the files at all, since it is expecting the files in the root directory of the first partition.
Try fdisk /dev/hda and than p, which will show you the partition table of your cf.
If necessary, create a new partition, format it (on the Z) and put the files on again. Than start a new cycle.

Hi,
in Kopi 2.11, the menu key is still mapped to filter options. Is this intentionally?

great work so far,
just why did you decide to map the HW menu key to filter options (in Kopi)?
I like the functionality of tracking times, spent on todos. Still, it would add ease of use, if starting one todo would stop all others, since you usually can work only on  one task at a time.

Anyhow, i just thought it could be something to be improved.
I wasn't commenting on your possibly hammy fingers, I just didn't know you got from the agenda key to the OK key
No, obviously it has been the enter key, pressed with the supporting hand
(in the bus)

Added a timetracker funtionality in KO/Pi for todos in the todo view.
If a todo is set to started and then to stopped it is saving information about the runtime in
<yourhome>/kdepim/apps/timetrackerdir.
To read, display, print this information an external program is needed which will be developed.
It will display the data in a Gantt timetable view with one row for each todo.
It will have many possibilities sorting the data after category, parent todos, attendees, ... and for creating/printing status reports/summaries.
Merging of data from different computers/users will be quite easy because every run is stored in a single file.
feels like christmas - this is one request i didn't even dare to mention.
What a pitty, i won't have a chance to get my hands on it before monday

have a nice weekend.

Can't you refrain from pressing OK/Enter, or am I missing something?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=75023\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Well, like i said it was accidentally (sort of big thumbs), which means unintentionally, not meant to happen and of course not realized immediately.

Anyhow, i just thought it could be something to be improved.

Hi,
i have a minor complaint concerning the focus. Every time i start Kopi (fast load enabled) it has the focus on a todo and ennoyingly i happened to press OK or Enter accidentally and checked the todo without knowing it.  Can't the initial focus be on the menu or anywhere else, less critical?.

Hi all,
i've just had time to install 2.0.26 and
          - WOW -
the configuration screen, my favourite bug so far, both in Kopi and Kapi behaves (allmost) properly. I.e. it's actually resizing for portrait-mode.
It works perfectly when changing orientation, while in config.
Only draw back in Kapi: when you call the config while already in portrait, the sizing of the contact tab seems to get something wrong, because the list boxes for name extensions are so tiny, that you'ld have to read them character by character, provided you have entries enough for rollbars to appear.

And i still miss my "NOW" button in Kopi.

Apart from that, the perfect PIM-suite still gets better.

Greetz,

Sharp ROMs / Can't see CF card

I have similar problem. I have cacko ROM on SL-C860 and use 1GB CF card (sandisk). I needed to use my card on windows XP comp with card reader  and it worked fine but now after putting it back to the Z it doesn't work.
Z detects there is new CF card but doesn't mount it automaticaly. After mounting it manually from /dev/hda (not hda1!) card is read-only.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=74002\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
looks as if XP somehow spoiled your partition[table|ing]
I had the same problem after having had to format the card under XP and it turned out, that it was formatted as "floppy", i.E. witout any partitioning.
just try fdisking - making new partitions (don't forget to umount before)
and all should be well.

The trick for Autrix (  ) is to fix stuff without having the whole playcard castle crumble around him.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=73766\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
And he's doing a f** good job at it.
