5x00 Hardware / 5600 Assembly Pictures?
« on: September 25, 2006, 10:48:08 am »
Hi,

I'm just wondering if someone has some assembly pictures for the 5600 (poodle). I'm looking for the memory chip manufacturer/number and if the board has 1 or 2 BGA chips? the poodle has 32M of RAM, so is it 1 chip? of 256Mbits or 2 chips of 128Mbits?

Regards,
Ced.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Ipk-link
« on: January 26, 2005, 10:10:21 am »
Sorry for a stupid question again...

I've add a new dest to my ipkg.conf file:

Code: [Select]
dest root /
dest home /home

which /home is /dev/mtdblock3

I've installed some app to home and it can't find my new installed apps.

So I've try to use ipk-link (I've got the version 1.6cvs20050120-r0) like this:

Code: [Select]
root@poodle:~# ipkg-link mount /home
*** Command: mount
*** Command: add
*** Locating package
Package "gconf" not found.
*** Command: add
*** Locating package
Package "gnome-vfs-plugin-file" not found.
*** Command: add
*** Locating package
Package "gnome-vfs" not found.
*** Command: add
*** Locating package
Package "gpe-filemanager" not found.
*** Command: add
*** Locating package
Package "libbonobo" not found.
*** Command: add
*** Locating package
Package "libidl-2-0" not found.
*** Command: add
*** Locating package
Package "libpopt0" not found.
*** Command: add
*** Locating package
Package "libxml2" not found.
*** Command: add
*** Locating package
Package "orbit2" not found.
*** Command: add
*** Locating package
Package "scap" not found.
*** Done.

Code: [Select]
root@poodle:~# ipkg-link list /home
*** Command: list
gconf
gnome-vfs-plugin-file
gnome-vfs
gpe-filemanager
libbonobo
libidl-2-0
libpopt0
libxml2
orbit2
scap
*** Done.

What am I doing wrong?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Custom Rom
« on: January 10, 2005, 10:48:16 am »
Hi,

I've successfully built a new rootfs of OZ GPE 3.5.x for my SL-5600 including matchbox 0.9 and updated gpe packages (I've created a custom distro from openzarurus 3.5.3 and familiar 0.8.1).

It's the first time I'm using OE so please don't flame me... :-)

I've got the following under "tmp/deploy/images":
Code: [Select]
-rw-r--r--  1 cedric users 13352960 Jan 10 16:07 gpe-image-poodle-20050110141435.rootfs.jffs2.bin
-rw-r--r--  1 cedric users   984364 Jan 10 15:57 zImage-poodle-20050110141435.bin

I've renamed the two files to "zImage" and "initrd.bin" and flash them using the SL-5600 updater.sh from the OZ 3.5.2 release.
After a success flash, I'm getting the following during the boot process and that's it... no GPE... :-(

Code: [Select]
RAMDISK: Couldn't find valid RAM disk image starting at 0.
Freeing: initrd memory: 4096K
VFS: Mounted root (jffs2 filesystem).
Freeing init memory: 84K

The goal of this custom rom was to test the new updated packages and the SL-5600 kernel without the cache bug errata enabled.
Previously this, I've got the OZ GPE 3.5.2 release running perfectly...

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Firefox Under 3.5.2
« on: December 09, 2004, 07:40:59 am »
I've installed firefox from the feed to my SD card and I'm getting this:

Code: [Select]
run-mozilla.sh: Cannot execute /usr/lib/firefox-1.0/firefox-bin.
The firefox-bin is not in the data.tar.gz

Can someone put a fix as an upgrade?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Sl5600 + Oz 3.5.1
« on: November 30, 2004, 03:44:50 am »
Hi,

Sorry to start another thread about a flash issue...

I'm trying to flash OZ 3.5.1 from the default Sharp ROM.

- with the OPIE version I'm getting:

Code: [Select]
RAMDISK: Couldn't find valid RAM disk image starting at 0.
Freeing initrd memory 4096K
jffs2_scan_inode(): Data CRC failed on mode at 0x007e0f04: Read 0xC16db9fe, calculated 0x439b386f
VFS: Mounted root (jffs2 filesystem).
Freeing init memory: 84K
BusyBox
...
kernel panic: Attempted to kill the init!

- with the bootstrap image, I can use the console but I'm getting the same RAMDISK issue and the mtd stuff is as follow:
Code: [Select]
cat /proc/mtd
dev:    size   erasesize  name
mtd0: 006d0000 00020000 "Filesystem"
mtd1: 00700000 00004000 "smf"
mtd2: 01600000 00004000 "root"
mtd3: 02300000 00004000 "home"

- with the GPE image, I can't pass the login screen...

From the default Sharp ROM, I've got the following for the mtd:
Code: [Select]
cat /proc/mtd
dev:    size   erasesize  name
mtd0: 006d0000 00020000 "Filesystem"
mtd1: 00700000 00004000 "smf"
mtd2: 01900000 00004000 "root"
mtd3: 02000000 00004000 "home"

Why the mtd are different between OZ and the default ROM?

I'm currently flashed with the bootstrap image so if you need more info, please shout...

Regards,
Ced.

Off Topic forum / Graphic Novel
« on: November 23, 2004, 12:37:04 pm »
I've got some old graphic novels (Asterix & Obelix) and the pages are starting to detach from their support... How can I can transcode them electronically and be able to read it from my zaurus?

Obviously I need to scan it and... after?
What resolution do I need to scan it to get a good quality to be read on the zaurus (320x240) ? a page is a A4 paper size.
Maybe transform to PDF?

User Request for Applications / GDB
« on: May 26, 2004, 10:14:41 am »
I\'m just wondering if someone got GDB compiled for ARM?

I\'ve wrote a SDL demo. It work fine on my Intel PC but crash (on exit) on my Zaurus. So I would like to bebug my program on the Zaurus itself...

Qt/Qtopia / SDL demo
« on: May 24, 2004, 08:33:33 am »
I\'ve wrote a demo using the SDL library (1.2.7). The demo run perfectly via ssh. But if I try to run it from an icon or from the console then it freeze when the demo exists.
I can replicate the problem via ssh if I set the following environment:
Code: [Select]
export QWS_DISPLAY="Transformed:Rot180:0"

export QTDIR=/home/QtPalmtop

Do you think is something with my demo (dodgy pointer or something) or is it something with qtopia?

The main method look like this and I can see the last \"printf\":

Code: [Select]
int main(int argc, char ** argv) {

  // demo code

  ...

  ...

  printf("exit!!!!");

  return 0;

}

General Discussion / swap partition
« on: May 12, 2004, 03:44:19 am »
sorry to bring up again a discussion about swap partition...

from this article --] http://hedera.linuxnews.pl/_news/2002/09/0..._long/1445.html

can we move the partition /home (which is /dev/mtdblock3) to a flash card (SD or CF) and make /dev/mtdblock3 a swap partition?

so finally on the SL5600 (don\'t know about the C-xxx):
  * ~25M for the system (root partition)
  * ~32M of RAM + ~32M of swap = 64M of memory
  * and whatever for the home partition

Sharp ROMs / cacko ROM for the SL5600
« on: April 26, 2004, 11:54:30 am »
I\'ve done a proof of concept on installing/booting the cacko ROM (1.21) for the SL5600.
I\'m just wondering who is interested in this potential ROM?
Secondly, I\'m looking for maintainer(s) against the C series version... ;-)

Qt/Qtopia / ?? QDialog
« on: March 30, 2004, 08:41:07 am »
Hi,

I\'m writting a personal qtopia application using a QDialog for the parent. How can I add a scrollbar when the user enable the virtual keyboard?

For example if you use the OOTB editor application then the application is pushed to the top when the user uses the virtual keyboard.

Personal Java/Jeode/J2ME Personal Profile / compressed javadoc
« on: March 25, 2004, 04:22:48 am »
The jdk 1.4 javadoc is about ~150M and compressed about ~12M. Is it possible to mount the documentation as compressed?
I\'ve got a 256M SD card as ext2.
