Sharp ROMs / Won't Suspend After Cacko 1.23 Update
« on: November 14, 2005, 08:44:14 pm »
Hopefully someone can help.  I updated my c860 from Cacko 1.22/hotfix to 1.23, flashing and formatting the user files, and reinstalling all my ipks.  Now it won't suspend (turn off) via the suspend icon.  Any way to debug or solve the problem?  It was fine at first, but then stopped responding to the suspend command.  Last thing that I installed was Wellenreiter, if that makes any difference.  It worked at first, but is also not working now.

Software / Ko/pi Error After Reboot
« on: October 13, 2005, 06:40:11 pm »
I'm having a strange problem, after a reboot KO/Pi (v 2.2.0) won't load my calendar file.  It takes a terribly long time to start up (KO/Pi) and then I get an error message saying that it can't load the calendar.  Any ideas?  Tried to import my last backup (ack!  two weeks old) and also to import Last File and it won't do so, KO/Pi closes when I attempt.  I hope I haven't lost all my calendar data...

Sharp ROMs / Cacko 1.22a And Wifi Function
« on: February 17, 2005, 04:28:27 pm »
After upgrading to the latest Cacko ROM, my wifi setup no longer works with the Any function checked; it will only work if I specify SSID.  This is fine if I'm in my network, but when out or traveling, I often don't know the SSID.  Is there a fix for this?  I have tried to get Wellenreiter to work so that I can sniff out the SSID of available networks, but haven't been successful getting that to work either.  Help!!

Accessories / Xigma Case Problem C860
« on: December 09, 2004, 10:44:52 pm »
I dropped my c860 in its beautiful Xigma case, about 2 feet to the carpeted floor, and it hit just right (or wrong) and both of the clips which hold the Z in place sheared right off.
I have sent a couple of emails to Xigma to see if it could be repaired - no response whatsoever.  Any suggestions?  Mighty expensive case to only last a few months and break in such a small incident.

If they won't repair, or give me some sort of a break (no pun) on a replacement, what is a suitable, similar replacement case?

Sharp ROMs / Display problems with Cacko 1.21
« on: July 26, 2004, 01:14:27 am »
I just flashed my c860 to Cacko 1.21 and Hotfix B, and I'm getting "ghosting" below the text and banding on the screen.  This is pretty noticeable on the main menus with the icons, and the banding is really noticeable with the image viewer when displaying photos.  I saw a post about this in an old thread, but no solution.  Anyone having this problem, and is there a fix?
Otherwise, I'm going to have to go back to the stock ROM...

Sharp ROMs / Time reset problem
« on: July 23, 2004, 12:56:25 pm »
Sorry for the cross-post from the General forum, but no help or ideas yet.
My c860 came back from Sharp Japan repair center (problem with the SD card
retention mechanism, now fixed) with a weird symptom. It resets itself to July 1,
2004, particularly when re-starting after a suspend and turn-on. I also noticed that
there are now two Date/Time icons in the Settings tab, one in English and one in
Japanese (different icons, but pull up similar but separate system time settings).
The clock has been running (now it is July 2nd) but I can't get the current date
reset to "stick".  Everytime I go into suspend or off mode, it will come back and
reset itself to the earlier July '04 date.
Anyone have a possible solution?

Thanks,
Mike

Software / KO/Pi time reset problem
« on: July 22, 2004, 11:35:33 am »
My c860 came back from Sharp Japan repair center (problem with the SD card retention mechanism, now fixed) with a weird symptom.  It resets itself to July 1, 2004, particularly when starting KO/Pi right after a suspend and turn-on.  I'll start KO/Pi, and the system resets time to a PM hour, and the date to July 1.  It will also do it on its own after a suspend/turn-on.  I also noticed that there are two Date/Time icons in the Settings tab, one in English and one in Japanese (different icons, but pull up similar but separate system time settings).
Anyone have a possible solution?

Running the OEM sharp rom, and KO/Pi-KA/Pi  1.93 and the current version KO/Pi Alarm Applet.

Thanks,
Mike

Cxx0 Hardware / Help! SD card slot malfunction
« on: June 17, 2004, 01:04:43 pm »
My (c860) SD card will no longer stay in the slot!  Pressing it in you can feel the spring action, but it doesn\'t click in to stay in position.  Anyone have a solution?  If not, glad I bought from Dynamism...I\'ll have to exchange/repair.

Software / New version of Tree!Explorer and English website!
« on: June 17, 2004, 01:00:56 pm »
I received the following email from Taku:

----------
Dear users,

This mail is sent to all those who are insterested in Tree!Explorer QT.

Finally I have come to open English web site of Tree!Explorer. All the contents are translated into English. Please come and visit the site!!! http://homepage2.nifty.com/taku2001/softop...op/index_en.htm

There have been several issues to non-Japanese native users:
+ Warning messages shown in Japanese even selecting English. After
+ quitting the application, the language setting returned to
Japanese.
+ Only Japanese Readme.txt prepared.

These issues are now solved in Tree!Explorer QT Ver1.60, the latest version released recently. Please download Ver1.60.  This version includes following features.

+ All warning messages in English (No more Japanese!) Some wrong English
+ messages modified.
+ Language Configuration continues (still in English after rebooting)
+ Readme.txt translated into English (Readme_en.txt)

Plus, I have contracted with Handango where credit card payment is available. If you want to register Tree!Explorer QT
Plus+(shareware) in English and pay, please visit Handango, you can do
Plus+it all in English!
http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDet...roductId=113191

Tree!Explorer QT - Free of charge
Tree!Explorer QT Plus+ - Shareware(registration required)

Here is something I need your help.
Since English is not my mother tongue, I am not sure if my English is correct.  I am afraid that my expression in web site, readme.txt, program menus(including warning messages) might be wrong and mistaken by users.  So if you found something wrong, please tell me.  Your cooporation is a lot appreciated.

If you have any questions or request, please email me in English.  BBS is also available.  English?  No problem! http://hpcgi2.nifty.com/taku2001/zau/texpl...erqt/top_en.cgi

Regards,
taku - Tree!Explorer QT developer from Tokyo Japan.

Security and Networking / Firewall?
« on: May 28, 2004, 11:30:29 pm »
Is there a way to run a firewall on the Zaurus?  Or is it necessary?
Lets say I\'m on a public system, like t-mobile at $tarbuck$.  What
would keep someone else on the network from accessing my Z,
other than locking out the samba folder via chmod?
This would be a pain, as I\'d have to change access rules anytime I
wanted to TCP/IP files with my notebook computer.

Software / Address Book fix?
« on: May 25, 2004, 01:53:17 pm »
Is there a workaround to fix the Japanese address book on a Cx60 so that the contact information is sorted alphabetically in English?
Mine is seemingly completely random, and virtually unusable because of it.  Also, is there a way to change/add fields?

Cxx0 General discussions / Problem with Japanese keyboard on C860
« on: May 23, 2004, 07:06:26 pm »
My new c860 came from the vendor without the handwriting recognition enabled.  I figured out how to enable handwriting here:
http://www.zaurususergroup.com/index.php?n...ing+recognition
but in the process lost the selection on the Japanese onscreen keyboard to toggle between 2-bit and 1-bit characters and it is stuck in 2-bit, so I can\'t type ASCII characters on screen, only with the hard keyboard where the toggle function (Fn-0 and Fn-9) still works.  How do I re-enable this feature?  I assume it is just a symlink that I\'ve lost?

Deals and Great Z Buys / Bargain SL-C860
« on: May 21, 2004, 09:11:51 pm »
Found a bargain SL-C860 on eBay.  If I hadn\'t bought mine from Dynamism two weeks ago, um I would have snapped this up in a second.
Oh well...
