Angstrom & OpenZaurus / I Screwed Up Something Trying To Do Ipkg Upgrade
« on: August 07, 2006, 12:29:20 pm »
I stupidly tried to do an 'ipkg upgrade' on my SL-5500, running 3.5.4 GPE. It started giving errors about not having enough space(I should've thought about that first), so I ctrl-c'd out of it. It still boots, and seemingly still works, mostly anyway. The Text editor, and Image viewer(and presumably other stuff that came w/ the base GPE image) won't load, giving me the error

Code: [Select]
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.4.0/loaders/ cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory
is there an easy way to fix this? or do I need to re-flash? Can I reflash, and not lose data?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / E-mail And Irc On The Z5500?
« on: July 13, 2006, 01:06:27 pm »
I've tried using sylpheed for e-mail, but the configuration boxes are too big, and I can't get anything to configure correctly.

I'm looking for an e-mail client that will read POP3, and an IRC client. I use XChat on my laptop, but that is seemingly not in the repos. Suggestions?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / X11 Forwarding?
« on: June 17, 2006, 07:49:04 pm »
I'm trying to get X11 forwarding from my 5500 to my laptop working. I've followed all the steps I can find online, and it seems like it'd work, but apparently not. When i try to run sylpheed, I get the error
Code: [Select]
root@exiguitas:~# sylpheed

(process:1765): LibSylph-WARNING **: SSLv23 SSL_CTX_load_verify_locations failed.

(process:1765): LibSylph-WARNING **: TLSv1 SSL_CTX_load_verify_locations failed.

(sylpheed:1765): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:

I installed a bunch of programs, firefox, thunderbird, gimp, gaim, and a couple of others.  I tried using firefox, and the icons were too big, made it basically unusable, same for gimp and gaim. Is there any way to make the icons smaller? I'm running a 5500, so the resolutions not the best, but it works. Suggestions? If there isn't, do you have any alternatives? Like versions that were meant for the Z maybe?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Bricked(hopefully Not) 5500
« on: June 12, 2006, 06:49:16 pm »
I was trying to flash back from pdaxrom. Well, ok, initially I was going to try pdaxrom, from GPE. THat didn't work, I wasn't actually downloading the zimages(links were broken). So I tried to flash back to OZ. I accidentally pulled the battery, and now my Z won't flash at all. I've googled around, and searched this forum, and haven't really found anything. None of the lights turn on, it's not taking power(or the light isn't showing that it's taking power). Even after trying the flash process again, it doesn't do anything. Suggestions? I really don't want to have to buy another Z.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Package Manager Hanging
« on: May 10, 2006, 09:54:59 am »
I can update my packages lists fine. Both from the console, and the package manager. But as soon as it's done downloading the package lists, it sits forever "reading the package lists". I let it sit overnight, and it was still doing it in the morning. I just got a wireless card, so this is the first time I've done this.

How do I install packages by default to and SD card?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Networking, Updated Rom
« on: March 22, 2006, 08:01:29 pm »
I recently updated to the 3.5.4 GPE image, and my USB networking ceased to work. I reset the usb0 configuration to what it was before, but my computer's still not recognizing it. Suggestions?

I'm running Debian Etch on my laptop.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Scp In 3.5.4rc, Not Working
« on: March 19, 2006, 09:57:06 pm »
I'm trying to upgrade to 3.5.4, and when I try to use the command
Code: [Select]
scp initrd.bin root@exiguitas:initrd.binI get the error
Code: [Select]
sh: scp: not found
lost connection

Suggestions? It's running dropbear if that helps.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Cheapest Wifi Card
« on: March 13, 2006, 12:35:37 am »
Does anyone know of a cheap wifi card that works with OpenZaurus. This is for a 5500, so low power would be preferable, but price will probably be the deciding factor. Suggestions?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Updating Via Desktop, Transferring To Z Over Usb?
« on: January 19, 2006, 07:55:57 pm »
Is there any way to update via a desktop computer, and transfer the packages over to the Z via USB? I don't yet have a wifi card for my 5500, so I'd like to update the packages another way. A script that would do this would be easiest, as I don't want to have to download individual packages....

For Sale / Wanted / 5500 Stylii, Where To Buy?
« on: January 19, 2006, 01:04:17 am »
My stylus broke. The little plastic tip snapped off the metal shaft, and it's pretty much non-fixable. Where do I purchase new stylii for the SL-5500? I've looked at ebay, but they're $10 a piece, which seems prohibitive to me, am I wrong?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Ssh(dropbear) Not Working?
« on: January 19, 2006, 01:02:21 am »
I'm running 3.5.4RC/Opie on my 5500. When I try to ssh in via my usb0 connection, I get the following error
Code: [Select]
The authenticity of host ' (' can't be established.
RSA key fingerprint is 0f:0e:47:2f:ff:e5:d7:c1:51:8f:73:c3:e0:86:b9:da.
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? yes
Warning: Permanently added '' (RSA) to the list of known hosts.
Permission denied (publickey).
The first part is pretty standart, it's the last line that bothers me. Is it my settings, or is it the dropbear client? Do I need to reflash?
