Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Camera on linux?
« on: January 03, 2021, 09:15:30 am »
Is there any progress regarding camera on linux? This is now the only thing that is stopping me to use linux as my only phone. I dont care if it is front or back camera as long as at least one works.

(I am documenting things that I shouldnt remember a lot using camera currently and I cant really live without it)

I am building a custom rom based on v23.

I have successfully deodexed and patched services.jar with haystack (https://github.com/Lanchon/haystack) but it looks like that replacing google gmscore with microg gmscore throws cosmo communicator into bootloop.

Is anyone having any expirience haystack patch (i have decompiled the patch and the changes seem fine to me), microg or knows how to logcat booting on cosmo/android9?

On May 11, 2020, PC has announced

Quote
* Suspend and Resume - on open / close

* Initial Voice Call telephony support

Both have now been implemented and are being tested.

Is anyone aware what is with it? Does the calling work?

I got myself into android bootloop when on v21 and tryed to resize it to one partition only and then back to Android + TWRP + Root + Linux. Android didnt boot when there was one partition and going back to multiple didint help.

I have a TWRP backup of v19 firmware but I dont want to do something wrong. It consists of following partitions:

* Recovery
* Parametr
* Frp
* Nvcfg
* Nvdata
* Protect
* Spm
* Proinfo
* Modem
* Nvram
* Uboot
* Boot
* Logo
* Tee
* System
* System Image
* Cache
* Data (excl. storage)

Since I am on different version of firmware (v21) I really dont want to mess something up, I was doing flashes and restores on other phones, but the amount of partitions here is just overwhelming. Probably the system partition is somehow corrupted, but what to restore to not get into some half v19 half v21 situation to get a bootable v19 and upgrade it again to v21?

I would like to start from fresh (I have Cosmo Linux Beta installed), but I dont have any official image to flash. I have seen this https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showto...mp;#entry294205 but I dont recognize the format of image and I dont want to flash it using wrong tool (or wrong settings). Can someone please help me out?

Has someone maybe encountered something like this? When booting trough root, sim "is missing". When I boot exactly the same image without root, sim is recognized.

Difference is magisk (while I did freeze all google applications and google framework, installed microg).

What i have found in dmesg is:

Code: [Select]

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Did someone install Nanodroid?
« on: February 15, 2020, 04:25:59 am »
I am looking for a way to get rid of all google spyware and get microg (and remove all PC applications, they might be nice but I really dont need them). Before I was using microg lineage so the signature spoofing was baked into ROM (PC, it would be really nice if you would add that too), but now I need to find a way to do it on my own (xposed framework is one option). Since Nanodroid does most of the changes I need it seems like a good way to do it, I have backuped the whole ROM using TWRP but just for any case, did someone try to install NanoDroid on Cosmo?

PC is constantly referring to some "Linux community". Does anyone know what community this is? (url? git? irc?)

Cosmo Communicator - General Discussion / Scam?
« on: October 24, 2019, 02:04:09 am »
http://retro-computers.co.uk/where-are-the...o-mrsic-flogel/

Has anyone actually seen Cosmo?

I would imagine it is not very hard to pay a few "influencers" to do some fake reviews, images etc. and to me cosmo looks like you would take apart cheap
smartphone and one non smart, do some chasis and put both together into same casing. Due to the fact that there is some place left on left and right side of
display, i doubt there is some real meat under the keyboard. And if nothing else you can still put some external keyboard into lower chasis.

I will be really sorry if this is a scam, not so much about the money but due to the fact that I would really love to have such device.

Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Cosmo hardware and linux support
« on: October 08, 2019, 12:54:58 pm »
Is anyone here aware of what is existing Linux support for Cosmo Communicator hardware, especially mediatek. My main reason for backing up Cosmo was running linux on my phone. I am sick of android and its toxic software world and I would really be happy to remove google out of my life without building roms and wasting hell of a lot of time on configuring netguard/xprivacy lua, reversing apps that I would like to have but don't offer non google play payment etc., but I am worried the PC wont deliver this... =/
