Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Can't download Linux for Cosmo
« on: July 10, 2021, 11:52:05 am »
It seems links to Linux for Cosmo installers on official page are broken. When I try to download them, nothing happens.

Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Qt Development on Cosmo
« on: December 06, 2020, 10:26:54 am »
Tried to setup environment for Qt development under Linux on my Cosmo, but no success so far.
Installed Qt5 libraries and SDK, GCC and Qt Creator.
Qt Creator crashes when I try to open settings or open an existing project.
When I try to build the project manually or from command line, I also have nothing but errors.
Did anyone succeed in Qt development or at least building Qt projects in Linux on Cosmo?

Well... How can I work with only Russian layout enabled? How to type Latin letters?
If your using the gemian layouts and no one changed things since the gemini to break things then they come with two groups, you just press both shift keys to swap groups to quickly change which set of characters are used.
Yeah, that worked! Thanx!

Only one layout at a time seems to work, so you should be able to remove us (uk?) one and have the german or russian one working (though make sure it is working correctly, polish one was broken for example)

Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Additional keyboard layout

After adding another keyboard layout, besides default English, Fn combinations do not work anymore.
I added Russian layout to the list. Now I can switch to Russian and type Cyrillic letters, but Fn combinations do not work even in English layout! I can't even type "-" or "=", so the keyboard goes almost unusable. When I remove extra layout, leaving only default English, everything goes back to normal.
Yes, I set keyboard to "Planet Computers Cosmo Communicator" on Hardware tab of Settings, but didn't notice any effect.

- Left one is blue, right one is red: incoming call, press left to answer, right to reject.

For me it's

- Left one is Green, right one is red: incoming call, press left to answer, right to reject
Sorry. It was just a typo. Fixed.

Fingerprint scanner:
- Both red: Device is locked
- Both blue: Device is unlocked, both buttons functional.
- Left on is blue, right on is red: incoming call, press left to answer, right one to reject.
- Both blue blinking: Media playing (Have to hope we can get option to disable this "cop car" effect at some point)
Yeah, I updated the message above. 2 more lines added.

The correct legend of covers LEDs seems to be:

Top one:
- Red: Mobile network is not available
- Purple blinking: Mobile data is not available

Bottom one:
- Red: On charge
- Yellow: On charge, almost charged
- Green: On charge, fully charged
- Yellow blinking: Missed call

Fingerprint scanner:
- Both red: Device is locked
- Both blue: Device is unlocked, both buttons functional.
- Left one is green, right one is red: incoming call, press left to answer, right to reject.
- Left and right blink in turn: media playing

Didn't you forget to turn Use LEDison patterns on cover display option in Cosmo Settings on to make LEDison patterns work?

Cosmo Communicator - General Discussion / Shipping to Russian Federation
« on: February 01, 2020, 04:44:30 am »
I have some news here!

30.01.2020 I got an e-mail from Planet Computers Customer Care.

They said that my order was dispatched and is shipped via Skynet Worldwide Express. Also they said that I'll get a new tracking information within 1 or 2 days.
The next day I received the tracking number and the link to track. When I click the link provided, it says that tracking information for the number is not found, but when I enter the number on Skynet Worldwide Express web site, it says that shipment with the number was registered on 30.01.2020 and destinaion is my town. It looks like it's all right so far.

I think I saw that on IGG earlier, seems kind of crazy to me.

But one could also ask why DHL accepted the job/assignment in the first place, if they are not capable or willing to complete it???
Yes. This is the question I also interested in. It seems that DHL is a great delivery service where the right hand does not know what the left one is doing.

Hello!

Planet Computers sent my Cosmo Communicator to Russian Federation with DHL. DHL in Russia do not deliver goods to the private individuals, so my Cosmo was returned to shipper once arrived Russian Federation. Other contributors from Russia have the same issue.

Why do Planet Computers does that? Do they plan to send Cosmos to contributors from Russia? If so, then when and how?

I write it here, 'cause their consumer support e-mail is silent for last few months. Maybe someone from PC reads this forum and will answer?

Gemini PDA - Hardware / Compatibility of USB HUBs and adapters
« on: December 08, 2018, 12:46:51 pm »

The HDMI on the Gemini is CUSTOM, so you wont get HDMI-output without it. (Some people have reported getting an USB-C to Display-Link, and then Display-Link to HDMI to work, but that is probably/possibly because the Display-Link adapter "talks" to the Gemini on another level than an HDMI adapter does...?)

People have also reported that most (if not all??) hubs work, with the obvious exception that the HDMI ports wont work. So in that regard you should be able to just "knock yourself out" with buying, trying and using almost anything you like...
Thank you!

Gemini PDA - Hardware / Compatibility of USB HUBs and adapters
« on: December 07, 2018, 03:09:54 pm »
Original USB HUB and HDMI adapter for Gemini PDA are really expensive. Maybe it's interesting for Planet Computers fans, but for those, who just bought a good device for using it, there is no need in purchasing original devices just because of Planet Comptuters logo on it. Especially, if there is a lot of cheaper analogs around.

So, I start this topic to post here reports of experience with using such third party devices with Gemini PDA, to help others choose a device they need.

Please, post model names, links to the pages with description or where it could be purchased with your experience how it works with Gemini PDA.
