Thanks for the advice - esp about "tone"
I think it's an "android" problem on my phone, or a small subset of Cosmo's ....
As I said - I can "see" the ringtone, inside the SD card files
I can play it separately, but I can't get it to play when the phone rings.
As for partitioning ..
Screen / Files / Home / San Disk SD Card / Ringtones / GBU.mp3 ...
But it won't play when the phone rings
BUT: if I go
Screen / Settings / Sound /Phone Ringtones - I'm presented with a VERY LIMITED list, which I think is not the standard "Android" option ??

I cannot tell whether the SD card is internal or portable - how do I find out?
Incidentally, I can find ANOTHER copy of "GBU" in:  ...SanDiskSd card / Download - I appear to be able to Cut or copy it ... but I cannot paste it into "Phone ringtones"... the limited list of ONLY FOUR tones appears to be locked.

LET'S TRY AGAIN

In Android, one should have a long list of ringtones available - yes?

I have only got FOUR & I can't transfer the MP£ tone into that list.
It's plainly a software fault
 - NOTE: "GBU" is the ringtone I have & want, but cannot load in the right place, OK?

The file paths are - :
1:  File Manager / San Disk SD Card / Ringtones / GBU.mp3 - it will play there, but I can't move it!
2: File / GBU - which then PLAYS - but I can't even shut it off - it loops & I have to restart the phone (!)
3: Settings / Sound / Phone Ringtones - which then shows a very limited list of four, ONLY
 { They are: Argo Navis / Atria / Backroad / Beat Plucker ) / - NOT WHAT I want, but that's all that is offered.

Plainly a software fault or faults ,- I can "see" GBU, twice & play it direct, but I can't get it into my very restricted actual ringtone list
What's happening here & how do I correcr it?

My Cosmo says Android V 9

UPDATE
I can now play the ringtone - I downloaded the "VLC" App ... BUT, But, but
It still won't play as an actual ringtone
I've worked out that if I can transfer ( Copy / paste via an intermediate machine ) my desired ringtone into the correct directory, it should play.
WHERE is that directory - can someone give me the file-path, please?

Since I got my Cosmo, I've had an externally-boought-&-installed (by me) ringtone ... (Good bad ugly theme, with an *mp3 suffix
Suddenly it's stopped working - "this format is not supported."
How do I get it back?

Got it repaired in Cosmo's offices,  paid fee
And - yes there was a small screen-crack, as well

CORRECTION / UPDATE

The "settings" menu says:
"Mobile Data is off - Internet available only via wi-fi

I press "Turn On" ...
And between 5 & 30 seconds later, it's turned OFF

 I've now told it to access via wi-fi, but hat still won't work if there is 4G signal, but no wi-fi.

Cosmo Communicator - Android / NO Internet

If i got to "Settings", turn "Network & Internet" to "ON" ... it turns itself off, within a few seconds & I can't get it to stay om.
How do I fix this?

NOTE:
1. I recently had the phone repaired it was doing this before the repair & it's still doing it. { P.S. Actual repair job was very good }
2. I took the phne to my network provider (EE) & they said it was nothing to do with them, I was paying for 50Gb of data per month, but not getting it & "not theor problem"
3. I can get wi-Fi, if available & logged in, but that is not the problem

QR codes simply DO NOT WORK on or from my Communicator
I have tried pointing the camera at them, pressing the button ... & I get a nice picture of the QR code ... that's it.

If I haven't had a reply by Monday, I'll phone them { Land-line or a borrowed phone, of course }

Incidentally, I see that the front/access screen has a second, separate chip - I wonder if that's what's "gone" -or it's connection?

While I'm here, I've got an unwanted shortcut on my main screen - how do I delete these & how do I alter them, if I want to?
