Windows Issues / How to connect using supplied connector to USB on XP

I looked in the HOW-TOs and searched the ZUG, but couldn\'t find anything about connecting to xp using the supplied usb cable from the connection on the side of my 860.  At this point I am looking for information for the 860, although there is probably nothing yet so 760 info would be fine.

I am only interested in a tcp/ip connection for web and ftp access, I\'m not interested in sync\'ing with anything.

I also understood that the 860 had some usb connnection stuff \"out of the box\".  I tried this but it didn\'t work out.  I may have installed things wrong - I plugged in to my pc before installing the sharp drivers - so maybe it is just a case of needing the instructions.

I am using OZ 3.3.5 right now, but am close to going back to the sharp rom so info on either would be appreciated.

General Discussion / Hancom Office IPK\'s

A few days ago someone sent me a url to use to download the hancom ipk\'s. I was having trouble downloading from the Hancom site so they gave me a url to what looked like a Spanish site that had them for download.

Unfortunately I have lost those ipk\'s and I think the message was lost due to the few days interruption of this site.

Anyway, if the person who gave me the url could reply with it again, I\'d appreciate it.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Opieplayer2 not found

I\'m having a lot of trouble getting things installed on my 860.  (Which works out to be a good learning experience for me).

I want to install opie media player.  Everything has installed alright but when I select the icon, I get the message \"Could not locate application opieplayer2\"  Yet opieplayer2 exists in the /opt/QtPalmtop/bin directory which is in agreement with the mediaplay.desktop file.

Any suggestions?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Right Shift Key

I\'m running OZ 3.3.5 and I notice that the right shift key doesn\'t shift. (Works fine with Sharp Rom).  

Has this been re-mapped for something?

General Discussion / model name - corgi? poodle? what?

How do the various names relate to the sharp model number.  I\'m looking at the OZ download section and a lot of the software is organized by the various dog names.  

I have an 860 - what name has it been assigned?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Is it possible to add C860 support?

I have an 860 and I tried X11 and cacko but no go.  I also tried OZ and it failed.  But only until there was a new updater.sh that recognised the 860 model number.  Once recognised, the install of OZ was fine.

Can the X11 or Cacko install just allow installation on the 860. I\'d be happy to do the initial testing to see how things work.

I\'ve installed a bunch of stuff using the Settings-]Packages app and stuff seems to install somewhat.  I get an error though during install

\"file_move: ERROR: failed to rename /usr/lib/ipkg/status.tmp to /usr/lib/ipkg/status.  No such file or directory\"

I look in the directory and there is no status.tmp but there is a status file.  Afterwards there is an icon for the app installed, but when I try to run it, it just puts a picture in the bottom status bar and then that disappears. So it looks like the app tries to launch but then fails.  This has happened with about a dozen apps i\'ve tried to install (mostly games from the OZ site)

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OZ 3.3.5 on 860 - problem - shuts itself off

I installed OZ 3.3.5 twice today.  It seems fine after flashing and works OK for a while.  Then after being off for a bit, it won\'t boot properly.  It boots to the main PIM screen but then shuts itself off after a half second.

Any ideas?  Should I be logging out before shutting off or anything?
