Been there, done that.  I couldn't prove it's the alarm applet, nor will i waste any more time attempting to do so.  I'm just reporting (as i have before) that there are some serious problems with crashing that only occur after i install the /pi suite.  If i had any more details than i've shared in the past, i'd share them.

It's unfortunate.  I like the Z, and i like the functionality of the suite.

Sucks. Really sorry to hear that.
Are you sure it's not a hardware trouble? (I've had issues when I made my partition just the recommended size, now I always add a couple of megs for flash degradation, and it seems to have helped a lot. Since the kdepimpi suite is quite big, it could be a problem).

Since multi-calendar support was added (2.1.12?) I have not been able to select which calendar to add a new appointment to when creating the appointment.  I am using a Zaurus 5000d in potrait mode, and it looks like the field is supposed to be beside "Location" but it is off the side of the screen.  This is the same in the latest version (2.1.16).

I have been creating all appointments in the default calendar and then moving them to the appropriate one afterwards.

BTW, I really like the multi-calendar support.  I have the default calendar setup so I can keep overwriting it with my Outlook appointments, and any appointments I don't want to add to Outlook I keep in a separate calendar file.  I am also impress with how well this runs on my 5000d with no Home on SD setup.  Keep up the great work!

The location is the *physical* location of the event (party tent!)
You can select the "default" calendar using the resources manager, and all new events will be created there.
It's not super-intuitive, but it limits the amount of modification Z had to make, and it doesn't hurt the workflow of people who don't use multiple agenda's.

Though I'm incredibly glad to see it (at last!), I'm having a lot of trouble with the multi-calendar support. After associating the resources with several calendars exported from iCal, my next launch of KO/Pi told me that the loading of the calendars failed. They loaded and displayed just fine when I first configured them.

Any idea why this should be so?

The "what's new" notes of v2.1.16 states that a problem with the menu bar in KO/PI and using the "Menu" hardware key have been fixed. Actually, pressing the menu-key calls the "Filter" drop down, instead of the menu.
As far as i got, this seems to be the only drawback in KO/PI whereas in PWM/PI the menu-key still does not work     . Well, i can live with that. (Until next version

No. If you're running the testing branch on purpose, (meaning you are willing to test and I can abuse that fact), try cold-starting kopi from the command line and see what it complains about.
I need to ask Z to compile a debug version that will spit everything it can back to println, so we can determine exactly what goes wrong in cases like that. Multiple calendar support is still very much experimental, and when you add that to the finnicky parser, it tends to create troubles.

Testing this now. Menu key works fine when the filter menu isn't in the toolbar, so it's probably a focus problem.
edit: confirmed. workaround is to use the filter button instead of the menu. I'll put the bug in the DB.

Immediately after launch it says: "Could not open translation file home/QtPalmtop/1l8n/libqsl.qmid" (or something like that). Then it spits out the multiple "Error adding calendar file [with directory info]" errors for all my calendars.

Not much, but I hope that gives you something to go on.

Could you copy-paste the whole thing?
Can you import the calendars normally?

- Dang.  New releases are coming in a flurry!  I installed 2.1.13 and it's already old!  (grin)
- I had the same problem that someone else had ... when I fastload KO/KA it completely soaks up all memory after a restart, such that the Z complains and wants to shut something down with that little dialog.  Got that twice, shut down both KA & KO, still took up all my memory until I un-fastloaded them.  This after the initial install, when it restarted after installing the alarm applet.
- I re-fastloaded them after a few days 'cause I was tired of waiting for them to launch.  No problems what-so-ever.  Haven't rebooted since then to know if it's a boot issue or not.  Looks like I'll upgrade, first.  (heh heh)

- Custom sounds work now.  That's cool.
- Time zones don't.  (little boy pout)
- Haven't used much else yet.

- Other than this little memory glitch the entire suite has been rock-stable since I first stumbled across it.  That's why I keep using it ... I could care less what it does or doesn't do if it's going to crash.  KDEPIM doesn't, at least not with the Sharp ROM, in my admitedly limited experience.  Kudos!...

Alright. Sorry about that silly bug.

Thanks. I haven't talked ot Z in a few days, but if the calendars can be imported they should be usable once the bug is fixed. We might need sample data (it can be a sensitive issue for privacy reasons), but I'm just not sure yet.

In spite of it all, my Z is still crashed and rebooted often (but not always) when i open it up after the alarm applet has triggered (as it does every morning).  It's frustrating.

In other news, I've ran into the alarm-applet bug, so I'll work on reproducing it and hopefully fixing it.

Let me know if this is still outstanding on the latest devel version.

Exactly how do they not work? I've been talking to Z about the timezone framework, and it's quite hard to "get" properly. It's on the backburner for now, but if there are show-stopping bugs, let me know.

Um, if it's still outstanding, I wouldn't call it a "little memory glitch"
